no it shouldn't :D

Bundles only go so high, so no, it shouldn't be $100. Spend more than a couple of dollars to get your value. Considering you used only bundle games, you shouldn't even have that much, so looks like CG missed a title during updating the bundle list. Well, it will be fixed soon, and you will have the $30 bundle maximum.

Was airbuccanners in a bundle?

Also, regifting.

Yeah, mentioned that, but the person I piggybanked deleted their comment. They also had multiple wins of the DLC.

I counted that under regifting :P

looks like they were both won yesterday, maybe he just happened to win both rather than win and then enter for it again. or maybe he didn't accept both(or get both, does it list wins you never received or accepted?(I don't know how that works))

if I won the same game twice after entering a bunch of them hoping to win I'd only accept the first one(even not knowing the rules what'd I do with 2?) and just tell the sender to give it away again to somebody else who entered.(and probably I'd mark received(cause I did so couldn't leave them hanging) or something and let the mods remove the duplicate credit, I donno....how hard would it be to get a reroll in that case? little enough hassle to just do that probably(and likely the same as it'd take to undo my marking recieved). so actually nevermind that doesn't make any sense lol don't know where I was going with this)

edit- ah, see what you meant it isn't just the duplicate wins, he gave away 3 copies immediately after winning 2 of the same thing.
is this one of the dlc that shows redeemed in a profile or is it like trine where it doesn't? if it doesn't show that'd explain how he'd be able to enter

He accepted both, or we wouldn't see them. It looks like he regifted as well. Ignorance of the rules does not mean he can break them.

in that case I agree.(and now I know how the won gifts stat works :))

To add to what others have said, any game in the giveaway list with an asterisk (*) next to it, is a bundle game. Value for those is capped so people can't abuse them for contrib.

Man, I can see how people get annoyed by this same thread popping up all the time.

TBH, the bundle thread that explains all this is somewhat hidden in the forums. :P

Yes, but if anyone making these was actually smart enough to use the search bar, they would easily find it.

1 decade ago

What does being smart have to do with knowing a home-brew rule? There's an FAQ that explains the "rules". Bundle vs. non-bundle value is not part of that FAQ. A reasonable person looks at the TOS (if one's available) and whatever manual/rulebook is around, then operates under the assumption that those are the only major considerations.

http://www.steamgifts.com/forum/91wob/faqrules-and-guidelines -- this is pretty clear, yet the same question pops up each day. Either everyone who joins is progressively stupider than the last person who joins or the site doesn't adequately explain how things work, causing frustration among the newer folks who join the site. I'm willing to bank on not all the new people being an idiot, so the site needs some better documentation.

Did you paid 100$ for those games you gifted?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You know what's crazy? He clearly spent the $5 on the BTA Groupees, and that will cap him at $30.

Buying 5 Galastore "non-bundles" for $5 would have given him $100 of c.v.

Because all of those Groupees games including 2 Worlds 2 are worth less than 5 copies of Shadow Harvest...

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's why they still should count as bundles. Same for the Amazon super-bundles (200$ worth of games for $15, yay)

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yup, otherwise what's the point of the bundle list? People will just find any "non-bundle" game to farm as we've seen so it renders the whole bundle list useless.

Now instead of getting a flood of games like Serious Sam 3 and Two Worlds 2, we get a flood of Shadow Harvest or Perimeter 2... How is that better?

What we need is a clear definition of a bundle/exploited game. There is a difference between a bundle game and a game that's on a good sale. It doesn't make any sense to immediately put a game in the list of exploited games just because people can buy it from a good deal.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah, but crazy machines and the like clearly were by any definition. it was marketed as a bundle, it was pay what you want, it had a bigger impact on contributor value than indieroyale or humble could have, it wasn't just a game that was on a good sale it was 4 games on a pay what you want with a bta for 2 of them and the other half with a min of $0.99.

maybe if it was intentionally quantity limited("buy it now at this low price, only 5000 left and dropping" sort of thing) instead of just accidentally running out of keys when steamgifts did a run on it that'd be a point against bundle list.

Yeah, Alpha Protocol went on sale on Steam for $2.00 a while back, but it shouldn't be counted as less for it, since you can't get it again at that price.

1 decade ago
Permalink

no see that argument is one that definitely won't hold up. Just try buying hib2 again. lol

you could have said that it was clearly a sale because it was a set percent off(rather than a minimum or a pay what you want with a bta), was sold alone(a very strong argument against it being a bundle since it wasn't...you know...bundled) ect

yeah, those galastore bundles(which they clearly are) need to be marked, no idea why they still aren't it isn't like the recent ones were the first, same thing happened month ago.

Instead of complaining about it, have you thought of asking the guy in charge and find out the reason?

not nearly as entertaining so no, of course not :)

where would be the fun in that? if we had an answer how would we argue about it?

Just that I'm finding it annoying since you like to keep bringing this up on Forums, when none of us are in charge of changing it. Go chat to the admin, bring up your reasons for wanting the change and see what he says. Then you won't need to keep complaining on the forums.

Then I'm happy, and that is all that matters.

didn't bring it up, ageoffarmageden did :) but yeah, i see how it could be annoying, but what else would I do all day if they actually got any action on it?

the internet is for porn and the forums are for arguments. its just the way things are.

I guess I could pick something else....

Even so, I only see you chatting about this. Surely there must be more interesting things. Follow AgeOfArmageddon and create a topic dedicated to beating a backlog and writing reviews for each game you play.

You know, your question is pretty irrelevant. I haven't paid full price for any of the games I have gifted, because I take advantage of sales. I usually buy games if they are on a good sale and decide later whether to activate them myself or gift them here. I understand what you mean, but some people just can't make the distinction between a bundle game and a game bought from an otherwise good deal.

over 30, until you gift something else.(full value up to 25, capped at 30 or 20% of the non asterisked games..something like that)

1 decade ago
Permalink

It's like that because you have gifted so many games considered bundle games (marked with an asterisk when you create a giveaway). They won't yield full contributor value unless you have gifted also enough non-bundle games.

yeah it sucks! yesterday i gave away 2 copies of testdrive unlimited 2 and my contributor value went from 44 to 68 when its suposed be 88, since the game worth 20 points. wtf is going on? can some one explain it to me?

You need at least TWO entries for it to count. Stops people from 'trading' through this site for extra contribution.

THIS ISN'T A DEBATE HERE! THE PURPOSE OF THE THREAD WAS TO EXPLAIN ME WHY I HAD THAT PROBLEM!! NO NEED TO BE RUDE!! STOP DEBATING AND JUST COMPLAIN TO THE ADMINS OF THE SITE, IF YOU'RE NOT HAPPY, INSTEAD OF TREATING OTHER ONES LIKE IDIOTS!! I READ THE FAQ OK, AND NOTHING SAYS SOMETHING LIKE "The game with * doesnt count in contribution points" or "YOU CAN MAXIMUM HAVE 30$ FROM BUNDLES" IT ISNT CLEARLY EXPLAINED!! SO IT'S NOT MY FAULT IF THAT FAQ IS NOT STRUCTURED ENOUGH!!

DAMMIT, I JUST ASKED ONE QUESTION!! AND NOW I CAN FEEL THE F****ING RAGE ATMOSPHERE IN THAT THREAD......
