I've been stuck on this nono for what it seems like forever. Does anyone see what I seem to be missing? Where is the next logical step to solve this?

I think I unerstand what you mean. 4th horizontal line (1 5 1), and you mean the second to last square in this row. I don't see the logic in this though. Why can it only be a cross??

Because the square to the left is either the end of the 5 or the second 1, thus it has to be followed by a X.

Easiest way to think about it is that if that space was filled, it wouldn't leave enough room for the 1.
Or alternatively: any string of 2+ filled squares in that row must belong to the 5, because the only other numbers are 1s. If you filled that space, you would have to also fill the two squares in between, leaving a string of 6, which is too many.

I don't think you're considering the 1 that you cut off in the column where you put the X. Look at the original image again.

oh! indeed. i copied a cropped image into paint and lost 1 in the column. my mistake
then we can solve from two possible positions of 6 in the third line from the bottom. it is possible only on the right. because on the left we will not be able to place 3 in the bottom line

Yeah you could also use "edge logic" in the top right. But both could technically be considered trial and error, so the logic of PtiLucky/WaxWorm's solution is more elegant.

I think you need to do the edge fill technique.
The 3 3 1 col. Filling the first row is impossible since that means you need to fill the fourth row of 3 1 1, so it means that the fourth row of 3 3 1 can be filled, which leads to the fourth row of 1 2 1 2 1 and 2 2 1 1 to be filled as well.
The 4 col. You can cross the last 6 rows because it wont fit the 2 1 1 row.
The 3 8 row. The only way in this set up to fill it is by filling col 2-4 so you can put 2 in the above row in. For the same reason, col 5 and 6 cant be filled so you can fill col 13 and 14.
The 4 1 col. 5th row is crossed since if you fill it, you wont be able to fill the 5 2 2 col below it. This means you can fill the first and second col of 5 4 1, and in turn, fill the second col of 5 1 3 1 and cross the second col of 1 2 1 2 1.
Thats all i can think of from this point. Im sure you can find more once you cross and fill out the cells since my understanding is limited if i dont see the image filled and crossed. Do let me know if you need more questions!

This screenshot is from the game Nonozle. The beginning nonos are a little boring and too easy, but I am very satisfied with the challenge the later puzzles provide. Can recommend it - and it regularly goes on sale for 0,75 €.

You can add X's because either the blocked in space to the left is the "1" or the end of the "5" but no matter what, it will be an "X"
Then you can fill in the "3" at the top of column 14, and go from there.

It wasn't hard, I completed it in +- 5 minutes without any guessing. I started with 1/1/5 column and 2/3/2 + 2/4 rows - then it was straightforward ;-)

It is just something you can mark as a starting point, as there is not much to start with. Column is more importent at the begining to build from. Then when you are at half solved those rows matter.

I think you probably are missing some way to find some "X" to help you.
edit for example, when you need a 2 but there is blue square 3 squares away the first square cannot be blue by logic because it can only be possible to be a 1 or 3+

I have checked solving methods at the linked site, they are good, I recomend to other to check it out, and have found one which I was not using so far, at least not knowingly - "Double positioning". Thanks once more for the link.

So lets agree to a coordinate system. We'll use X,Y, where X is Column and Y is row, measuring from Left to Right and Top to Bottom.
I'm going to assume you have everything right so far.
Youre right that 7,11 has to be an X, because Col 7 is [2 4] and the 4 cant extend the that space.
Observe that 2,5 has to be an X because Col 2 is [3 3] so theres no room for the 3 to fit in the 1 sized gap.
And because 2,5 is an X, 1,5 must also be an X because Row 5 [3 2] starts with a 3 and you cant fit a 3 in a 1 gap.
And because 1,5 is an X, what must 1,4 be, considering Col 1 [1 3] already has its 1 in space 1,1?
Returning to Row 5; since 1,5 and 2,5 are X's, we now have 4 spaces to fill with a 3, so what does that tell us about 4,5 and 5,5?

Also mark off the 1 youve filled in on Col 5 (at 5,11). Then consider whether you know what goes in 5,10

You can make an X where the gaps aren't big enough for the groups, for example 2nd column, and then that same line the same principle again for another X. My words are maybe confusing because we all have different terminology and different ways to think, but it should be clear when looking at the 2nd column and that single free space that in fact can only be an X.

As the numbers in the nonogram are quite high, it is quite easy to fill the cells ( once you know some tricks )

Back in 2020, I made the first version of the Nonogram Café, it was a lot of fun but it was quite tedious to create and play the puzzles.
A week ago I started looking at different alternatives online, and finally gave up, and made my own creator and player instead.
