The history is abstract, there is 3 or more endings if I remind myself and many parts of it are cyclic (?).
In the start I was as confused as you are, but as you play the game, the system and mechanics starts to make (some) sense.
Hope this can help you

Haven't tried it yet but kudos for already playing a game you won 3 hours ago :)

It's pretty much a mindfuck unless you put a lot of effort into understanding it, or so I've been told.
Way too difficult for my tastes, regretted getting it right off XD
Also, please use the correct form; there in stead of their. I've been on the internet too long and misuse makes me feel uneasy ;)
good luck with it.

Put it this way - EYE is the only game I ever wanted to truly get a refund for.
The team made no effort to make this game coherent or playable in any way, and they completely altered (And ruined the last shred of playability) with one patch that came out this year.
So to answer your question - No, you are not alone in being confused. This game makes no sense, but not because it's supposed to - It's because the devs did such an atrocious excuse for a job.

I enjoyed the game. I still play it.
Basically, everyone is pretty much a cyborg.
You're in an assassination-esq group called E.Y.E
People have magic powers
Everything has robotic infusion and can be hacked
Hot Cultist attack you with powerful SMGs with the help of crazy ass flame throwing monsters
There is a boss enemy called Deus Ex, he's a bitch to kill.

Lol love the fact you had time to edit in a remark about Grammar Nazi's but couldn't fix the actually grammar issue.
Anyways I actually remember really enjoying the game the first time I played it and had quite a bit of fun. It was during the Christmas sale last year so I was trying out a lot of other games as well so only played a couple of hours. I recently tried it again and I was completely lost. Usually it might take me a little while to get back into a game but even after about an hour I still was fairly clueless.
In summary it wasn't really confusing until I tried picking it up again.

Only one thing I can say about this game, from my hours of playing the demo. Besides difficulty (which can be changed in the options, anyway) it's not bad, it is just a little weird in it's written dialogue from what I can see so far. Besides, the difficulty will probably become easier to deal with, when you level up enough.
Hacking is absolute rubbish, though.

OK....I recently won this game and I played about 40 minutes into it. I am totally confused with this game. Is their a story? What the hell is the point of the armory when I get every weapon for free? WHY IS THEIR SO MANY THINGS?! To the people who have played this game, are/were you confused as much as I am when you started playing this game? Honestly, some things are FRIGGEN awesome; however, there are more things that suck or are just too damn confusing to use.
EDIT: GO AWAY GRAMMAR NAZI'S!@#!#@$!
