I've replayed the campaign of that game like 5 times when I was younger. The story is short, it's no big deal to just redo it; plus the campaign has one of the funnest replay's in videogames.

Few years ago i lost my Oblivion saves in one HD that died, i was far into the game, and my character was strong, so i never picked up the game again, after that.
20 years ago i borrowed a game from a guy, i think it was Eye of The Beholder on Amiga, he gave me his savegame too and told me: be careful don't lose it, it's right before the final boss.
A friend wanted to play/copy the game or something, i trusted him, long story short: he deleted that savegame and i was ashamed when i had to tell the other guy D:

I had a hard drive death that took my first play through the first 2 Mass Effect games and Dragon Age:Origins plus the bulk of Awakening equating to probably around 250 hours of gameplay(I quit playing Awakening after I ran into a glitch that stole my best gear and never got back to it)

Dust: An Elysian Tail : I had completed the game, got the best gear and just had a few things left to complete to get 100%. I wanted to do a new game + but upon saving that new playthrough I realized I had saved the previous one on the quicksave slot. 30 hours of game down the drain :(

Monster Hunter 1 character due to memory card corruption. There were a lot of other things in that card too...

Pokemon Platinum.
I was in the second fight of the 4 or 5 to be a master or something like that (it was like 7 years ago so I don't remember everything) and then one day I turned on my DS, but then I saw "There is an error with your save and it will be deleted.".
I was so mad because I had a ton of hours in that game

lol, i got 200 hours of play time in Skyrim, no corrupted saves, and still haven't finished the main story

All I remember is a friend and myself were grinding something out and my memory card died or something happened to it. I dont remember the game but we were young and still needed our parents to drive us to places. Didn't start taking the bus till I was 11-12 so this was pre 2000. Anyways I had to leave the ps1 on for a few days but eventually we lost the save.

Gran Turismo 2, Unlocked all Licenses at near perfect and game completion was around 90% the only thing left to do was those long Endurance races, few of us was playing the game. months went into this game. all to end suddenly " No Save File Found " lol....
The memory card also had other important saves like: Final Fantasy titles and those games do take forever when your trying to max your chars & hunt for every secrets the game has.

Test Drive Unlimited 2... After the save game was corrupted, TDU 2 did not work anymore.
For luck, 2 years later, on 2.12.14 The Crew was released :)

The hours I put in Skyrim saves which got lost or broken, is over 400.
Also dear Devs, FUCK YOU if your game uses "AppData" to store your savefiles.I always forgot to back that shit up and lose a lot of save files even though I backed up my Documents in 3 different HDD's.

Pokemon Silver on GBC. I had 247 pokemon and around 3000 hours. The cartridge fell on the ground and it broke saving feature.
Also Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I had 1 milestone and 3 challenges left.
If you completed the game and lost the save it's not that bad. It really hurts if you spent so much time completing it and you didn't finish it.

When I got a new computer back in 2004 ( I know, I know :P) I hadn't thought of keeping my saves in a different HDD than the OS one. My first motherboard was DOA and so was the second that I replaced it with (I just stumbled upon a problematic patch probably) so I just sent it to be fixed. I did get a new motherboard ( ASUS I think instead of gygabyte this time) and a shiny new format.
I lost all my saves from FF VII ( with all the materia I had spent hours on collecting and leveling), planescape torment and about a couple hundred hours of the sims 2.
I never managed to go back and play them again ( I did briefly try the sims but it wasn't the same from scratch).
I have FF VII on my steam library now though and I am thinking of going at it again at some point before 2020 if I am brave enough. :p

Thanks! Yeah...I guess I really am. I did have corrupt saves, but I always made sure I had multiple saves and I never got all my files corrupted, just one at a time. As for games with checkpoints, I really was a lucky son of a gun.

Someone decided to try out my Pokemon yellow and deleted my save in the process. Why did they never add more save slots!?

You know, you have playing a game for a while and then suddenly the save is corrupted or a little cousin/brother/son erased it by accident.
In my case was Guitar Hero 2 in the PS2, my little sister erased my saved game with all songs and characters. It was value for me because i suck at guitar hero :D.
