Notes on Best Developer category:
"Best Developer” proved to be a highly-contested category with a lot of close calls among the top nominees. As a result, we expanded the set of nominees to 10. In addition, we’ve excluded ourselves from this category. We appreciate the love you’ve shown us, but we want to honor the other awesome developers on Steam, so we have excluded Valve from the final tally.

Personally, it's quite close to what I expected, but I really would have liked to see Larian studios show up in the Best Devs category.
Sorry, I fucked up writing the first poll option.

Do you generally agree with what was selected?

Yay. Some/most of my choices got through.or they seem meritorious enough. (+++)
Mostly yes, but I'm disapointed that some/many of my selections didn't survive the culling. (+)
I somewhat disagree with the choices selected. (-)
Nay. 'tis all a big sham! (---)

Almost as much as a meme as Telltale would've been.

The fact that you can nominate any game for any category is a big problem + not filtering out games that were released way earlier than a 1/2 years back from the nomination pool...
Offering a pool of games that meet the definition of each category for people to choose from is better than this kinda lazy approach

To be fair, it depends on the category. e.g. with "Labor of Love" I would even expect that it's an old game, while for game of the year it shouldn't have been allowed to nominate anything but this year's titles.

Old games on list and no sense everywhere, like every year... 🙃

"We’ve excluded ourselves from this category."

What did they develop this year?
A pay to play card game and hats? Ah yeah, the Battleroyal Mode for CSGo that nobody asked for as well...

And now they expect me to vote for stuff I can't stand just to get a trading card, eh?

After they had us to nominate stuff we know nothing about like VR game of the year, or game of the year other than Red Dead Redemption 2?

Yes. Yes, they absolutely do.

That's why I nominated Super Space Pug for best VR game of the year :D

Yeah, I wish they would have included a nomination "shove that VR somewhere up your ...", because that's about how much I care for that stuff. Anyway, let's do some random pointless voting, grab those cards, sell them and then eventually buy something proper (not among the nominations). Brave new world.

so 3 Ubisoft games got platinum in 2018 - Far Cry 5/R6/AC Odyssey

Funny to read hate/joke comments about Ubisoft on steamgifts. People buy their games and enjoy them, so if best developer will be Ubisoft i'll be not surprised :p

Live Stream of the awards presentation starts in about ten minutes... prizes for viewers? Who knows, but that's why I'm bothering to tune in and drop a message here.

20 minutes later, and it's over. Short, simple, no mention of prizes, you missed nothin'. CD Projekt Red's acceptance video (no live acceptances, all pre-recorded) was the best of the clips with a good bad-for-PR "thanks for your votes" and walk away from the camera before a longer, more genuine "thank you."
