heyooo,
just stumbled across 3 keys for SCL, and i would assume that they are for the normal version, im not rly sure anymore, but i think they are somewhat leftovers from the time the game came out, and noone knew about the whole "you cant play the MP anymore because we rekt ourself hard!"-BS! :(
you still can download and play the SP no problem! (steam does not delete stuff no longer aviable in the store, even if its MP only xD)
now i tried to make a GA for those 3 keys, but it seems there is only the "Digital Deluxe" edition in the system (the game got pulled from steam), so i thought that this would not work/would be against the rules, and... now we are here :D

so should i just do it, and in case something goes wrong sort it out with support later on? or would that be a bad idea? is there even a need for my keys anymore? xD

maybe someone here can tell me what to doooo, if not, eh, np! ^^

thanks in advance!

Some SG groups require winner to delete the giveaway if theres a problem. I'm sure someone knows more.

Lootboy's group surely works like that, don't know others. ( OP can join by posting in the lootboy SG thread)

ash3dust2: Some SG groups

adam1224: don't know others.

Ninja Retreat also has that rule. Likewise, Positive Thoughts requires "entrants to do their best to accomodate reasonable requests made by the GA creator within the description of the giveaway". So we do cover "Please allow deletion if this key doesn't work" requests.

Of course, Lootboy SG and Ninja Retreat apply that expectation regardless of description, making them far better oriented towards users who give out iffy keys regularly (rather than just users who may stumble across a random old key, and want to be able to put it up without having to stress too much over it).

Just to support your "some SG groups" comment.. ^.^

If I read this correctly(?), the only difference with the Deluxe Edition is that it has the added soundtrack...

Deluxe Edition. https://steamdb.info/sub/79129/depots/

Also noted no cross region gifting or trading? Yours are keys, so its not a gift or trade???

oh rly? idk, i think they are... EU, or whatever that is called in "Steam" nowadays xD
and yes, they are keys. dont ask me from where. idk if i got them from somewhere on the interweb cough or it was just the way i got them from the 5 player bundle i think? were they gifts or keys, both? idk...
im playing Neverwinter Nights EE right now, and thought about the upcoming Baldurs Gate 3 (YAY! :D) and i was like: "ohhh, there was SCL too! maybe i play that again too!" and then i remembered the possibility to play it coop, but they got rekt and shut down the servers, and i had keys left for possible future friends i could persuade, and... now we are here ^^

maybe ill just give them away to ppl that want them, on a first come first served basis xD

Theres also Planescape: Torment and the Icewind Dale series that came out between BG and NwN. Planescape burnt me out on the engine.

The Baldur's Gate games weren't designed for co-op, and basically just added in as an afterthought. This differs from the Icewind Dale games, which were at least somewhat balanced and designed with it in mind to begin with (even though shopping and dialogues interfaces were pretty clunky for it).

(To quickly summarize the main differences, ID games played well to a single-character-per-player Diablo-like dungeon crawling focus, while Baldur's Gate games were strongly oriented towards exploration, dialogues, and large party play- resulting in poor balance if you reduced party size, poor engagement if players approached the same areas, and lengthy "down" periods that detracted from co-op immersion.)

Of course, if you want games of that sort which were truly built with co-op as the focus, you'd go for the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games on console, which focused purely on offering an engaging co-op dungeon-crawling experience. Theoretically, so was NWN for PC, but you'd need to get the Diamond version and play expansion/fan campaigns for that, or pick up NWN2, as the game's initial content and mechanics were rather lackluster and clunky by comparison to the game's later offerings/rebalances.

tl;dr version: If you liked co-op in the Baldur's Gate games, you may also enjoy it in Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, and Neverwinter Nights (as they're even better suited for it). [Assuming you haven't already played them all. :P] Conversely, if you want better single-player experiences, Temple of Elemental Evil and Planescape: Torment focused more on that aspect.

I'd be interested in SCL as well if you do "first come first served". I don't mind at all that it's supposedly more Dragon Age or Diablo style.

This game looks good! I don't think you can get these keys now.
I'm curious if it's like BG.

JFYI: SC:L was quite a lot of fun in SP for fans of the genre and the setting and it was even more fun in MP, still even more fun in DM-mode. I'm quite sad that this game is gone :(

It was pretty widely criticized but, watching gameplay videos, it looked good. I mean, [given how reviews described the system] I can see how the map editor/DM side of things was a let-down to those expecting a NWN follow-up, but it looked like a solid single player romp [which isn't to dismiss the MP side of things, just to note that this was one I was personally aiming for SP on].

( To be fair, I also found Torn Tales enjoyable enough, and that was an even worse reviewed.offering with a broadly similar framework. Given the more complex and engaging nature of SCL, I figured it was a fairly safe bet by comparison. )

Given that, it's rather aggravating that it oh-so-reliably crashes on me when attempting to transition out of the first tutorial area. :(

Though, I hear there's a lot of similar instabilty issues left over in the game due to the suddenness of n-Space going under. Bright side, they did manage to get their (free!) DLC out before the end [>>], which definitely puts it ahead of other games that've gone under suddenly. I mean, not that that has ended up mattering to me personally thus far, but.. still nice in concept. :P

Oh, well. At least I've got Grim Dawn now, to scratch my dungeon-crawling itch. And not only is that game rather solid on its own, but there's a full conversion Diablo 2 mod for it that makes other "full conversion" mods pale by comparison. So there's a lot of meat there, to go through. ^.^ Still, I'd love to figure out how to fix SCL at some point. :S

I remember that it was quite a hassle to get the game running without crashes. But after I managed to do so, there were no more crashes on my machine and it was a smooth experience. I know that that is/was only my experience with the game and that others, like you, were/are having a bad experience.
AFAIK you don't understand german, but to see the game running without problems on my rig, you could have a quick look at the Let's Play Together of the Multiplayer we did a few years back

It's rare that staff can't manually re-add an unlisted game to the giveaway, so it's usually worth noting noting such things to them [via a support ticket]. For future reference. ^.^
