I just want to add lots of friends who are really into writing game reviews because I really enjoy reading them. I might ask you about games that you have whenever I try buying them.
Just please add me as a steam friend if you are really into games and enjoy talking about it. Thanks!
Or you can talk about your favorite games for comments. Just wondering!

I'll take this as an opportunity to recommend a game you my not have heard of called Suzy Cube, a 3D Platformer similar to Mario 3D Land that deserves a lot more love than it gets. There are six 'worlds', five of them with a boss along with each having a bonus level with its own quirks. The bosses are pretty much all the same deal and so are the levels, each level you get to the end while being timed and there are 3 hidden blue stars, often hidden behind a puzzle of sorts. Each boss looks like a giant Onix and are identical aside from getting progressively harder. Very simple stuff, but it doesn't get repetitive and it's actually a really fun game to just pick up a play through some levels in short bursts

I don't often write reviews but i really like reading english reviews, to learn more about a game (before buying it or sometimes just out of curiosity). So... Thank you for all these reviews !

I'm not sure about my favorite games, just that it's probably not the ones i've played the most.
In your wishlist, i recommend you https://store.steampowered.com/app/486380/Shigatari/ and https://store.steampowered.com/app/381780/80_Days/ and https://store.steampowered.com/app/358130/The_Curious_Expedition/

Oh... About the trail, i played it for 100h. And i feel mixed about it. It's extremely addictive to discover new landscapes crafting things, but it doesn't really make sense, no real final end or secret.

Oh yes and I have played 80 days but refunded it bexause i could finish the game in 2 hrs too focused on text dont you think?

Yes game is really talkative and i feel english level wasn't easy. But the fun part is trying to discover the fastest way, because there are different ways to go around the world. It's a little indie game, they probably had a short budget and they tried to adapt a famous novel so text was probably the most obvious to keep format.

do you tend to keep the game even if the game lasts less 2 hours but leaves you pretty satisfied while playing it? I usually refund it when i feel theres no replayability even if it is really good

Comment has been collapsed.

Depends. https://store.steampowered.com/app/408280/Message_Quest/ for exemple. Game is 1,5h long has no replayability. But i liked a lot the full short game and price is honest 3€. Then i feel it would be dishonest to refund so yes i keep it.

But usually as a lot of players, i hope for 1h of fun for 1€. So if game is 2h long for 20€ and i don't feel it's fun, it's a no.
80 days i paid 7,50€ and enjoyed it for 11h. So i think it's fair yes but it's absolutely understandable that someone else doesn't like it, eventually for the same reasons i liked it.

o ya this game is on my wishlist too guess we have similiar taste... lol yeah.. for me if it's under $5 and makes me enjoy 2 full hours i would keep it too.

Did you not enjoy 80 Days? Did you not want to play it again? While you can certainly beat it in under 2 hours, there's so much content that you'd have to play it many times to experience.

I only ever refund games if they're broken or I don't enjoy them. I don't care if a game is short so long as it's good - with little time to play, I value quality over quantity. I'd rather have a tight and focused game that lasts 60 minutes than have that same game stretched out to 2.5 hours just to put it outside the refund window.

80 days was indeed a good game but i didnt really wanted to play the game ever again because the game was too texty.. i mean i know its what the game is supposed to be but it was too much for me i refund a kind of game that is over 10 dollars with absolute no replayability which depends on very personal feelkng

It is indeed very text heavy. In fact, it's basically a choose your own text adventure. I figured you picked it up when it was on sale for $3.

If you're open to text adventures, there's a lot of fun to be had with it. Conspiring with robotic lions, passing out in an opium den, winning a boxing match, being attacked by pirates - and that's just a single playthrough.

Hello, I suggest you following few Curators on Steam. As they write short descriptions (Around 200 characters) and some of them add full reviews. I can not recommend any, but I suggest you browsing for some!
Hope it helps.

Yes i follow over 30 curators but i love to read a persons review because most curator pages try to have more objective view. I believe the review seems more beleivable and fun when its personal. Thats a thing for me

Agree. Then I'd suggest you looking for small curators with around 100 followers or even lower. Because curators like this tend to be casual and put their opinion out. + You would be supporting beginners :)

Then again i dont see the real difference between curator page and pesonal reviews when the curator seems to be too personal.. i expect curator page somewhat more professional and objective.. am i too picky? Lol

I don't write reviews all that often because I find it hard to find the time, but when I do, I write something like this Void & Meddler review. You can see all my posted Steam reviews here.

But I'm happy to chat about games in detail (I've inadvertently written many reviews for games in Reddit chats), and realize that the most important part is not whether someone likes or dislikes a game, but why someone likes or dislikes a game. One person's negative (The compass always points to your next objective. It's awful!) can be another person's positive (You don't have to worry about getting lost, and always know where your next objective is! It's great!).

Dunno if 80+ reviews are a lot, but there...
I don't make a review unless I finished the game or the game finished with me, usually because of bugs or otherwise unpalatable gameplay. So it might take a while for me to post a new one. ;)

If you're looking for reviewers, you could always take a peek at the Steam Reviewers' Guild. All its members are reviewers who write quality reviews (although they don't all write regularly).

https://steamcommunity.com/groups/ReviewersGuild

While you can't really join the group yourself without being a reviewer, you can always follow the public discussions in the group forums, such as the thread where members share their reviews (thread was recently resetted, but new reviews are added daily).

Oh, and I myself write reviews every so often: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198030788488/recommended/

However, I don't really add strangers to my friends list, so if you really wanted to follow up on my reviews, the best bet would instead be to join my personal review group, CJ's Opinions: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/CJsOpinions

I LOVE writing reviews, and I try always to review games that have little exposure, or like 2-3 English reviews, or even no English reviews at all and maybe only Chinese or Russian ones, so that I can help all the English community!
I tend to write reviews about indie games, since big RPGs and so on have already 100 new reviews per day and it's of no help at all probably writing a review for Skyrim and the like..
The bad thing is that I think that when Valve removes a developer or a single game, even the review fades =P
Anyways I'm having unfortunately little time these weeks but I'm always eager and willing to write reviews for those games, I found out through the years that I have many readers and that's awesome, even because well I'm always sincere and I try to give as much help as I can, which means of course that I write lots of negative reviews.. helping other English-speaking players to avoid spending some money on games that aren't worthy xD
Tomorrow I'll read all this thread and thanks a lot to Sal_Monella who pointed me at this <3
oh I've just seen that so far I'm at a round 450 reviews, I think all thorough and at least some of them funny and silly =P

I really enjoy writing reviews. Back in the day I would mostly just recommend a game because it was awesome, and not really write too much (as you can see in my early reviews). But as the time passed, I started to dedicate a little more time to share my opinions about games I think are great (and not so great). Writing was never a problem to me, it's just a matter if I want to dedicate some time to write a proper review or not. However, I only feel compelled to write highest quality reviews when I feel the same about the game. I don't really pursue a career as a professional game reviewer, but the idea of making a living off of reviewing games is a bright dream to me. You know, even the idea of getting free games to review them sounds really amazing to me, and I'm happy there are people out there who manage to do this.
