I haven't bought a pre-built PC since 1998. At least back then, finding a good place to source PC parts was a lot more trouble. Everyone was on dial-up!

Same here. Why pay someone else to put something together that will be sorta-like what you want when you can pick the parts yourself and get exactly what you need for a cheaper price. Putting it together is not exactly rocket science. I might pick up an HTPC case at some point and throw a box together, or I might just stick to my 3 monitors and leave the living room TV to the kids.

Just found out that it only works for games compatible for Linux. So I think I'll hold on to my money until the steam machine works for games compatible with Windows.

They comes with SteamOS, which IS Linux. But since they're basically PCs, you're free to install Windows on them if you wish.
