Not as much as most people think. But so far they are little more than a simple gimmick that may or may not catch on.

my father said the same thing when the first phone with a touch screen was introduced ._.

You can trade back and forth tech innovations that were either great successes (like how Apple made touch screen phones popular) or never really caught on. I could say that in the 1970s, many people thought that in a few years all movies will be in 3D. Almost half a century later it is still a semi-rare gimmick. As for VR, this is the second or third time they try it in the video game industry.

Hmm... Idk, those I've seen have been pretty expensive. Anyways, it sounds interesting, but I'm not too interested in VR headsets - as of now at least. And I got plenty of games to play anyways. :p

trash, free games and crap VR experience games. Tea Party Sim was free too.

That games will most likely ruin your VR experience, with your 900€ headset. If you use some cheap Chinese cardboard headset, that will be ok experience.

You are not missing out much. First episode is a bland platformer, the second is a nice trial-and-error puzzle, but the third is a terrible ratmaze simulator that really tries to imitate Amnesia but fails miserably. Altogether they are not unplayably bad, but neither in the category that they should be played if you have any other game at hand.

I played the third and the fourth, sure they are not the best of games but I got interested in the series, especially since I don't know anything about the story in the beginning.
The fourth one is great so far!

If you want the first two for the story, you will be vastly, vastly disappointed. It took me the end of the second episode to even realise what the premise was. The games really build on a certain atmosphere of uncertainty, meaning you go forward and do stuff, but never explained why.

Oh wow, I guess I was mistaken then, but I got to give props to the latest game, it is well polished compared to the third.

It has to be. The original promise was that the first and only game will be updated (not DLC, updated) with the rest of the episodes.
Then, suddenly, the third one was a separate game for the price of the first two.
Then, the fourth one somehow turned into some multi-chapter something, completely going dead against the original premise of a four-part suspense horror series.
Then, the dev started to throw out like a quarter million free keys in a few waves, making all the painfully few people still actually interested in the series think the game is going to be stuck in this pre-alpha unfinished state that seems to never get updated with any actual content… before out of the blue it does sometimes.
So unless the fourth episode is something awesome, this is going to be one really brutally failed promise.

Jumping the gun a bit, I fear. How many of the people that can afford a VR headset are shopping on bundle sites?

Should I ever have that much money (899€ in Europe, after import taxes and VAT), I'd rather upgrade my PC, or even build a new one from scratch, than buying an expensive toy.
Thanks for the link to the Vive's Steam page, I can finally mark it as "not interested" :p
Now it's time to hunt down those VR-only titles.

Where does it say that these games require a Steam VR headset purchased from Steam? It says they require a VR headset, it doesn't say you have to purchase it from Steam or that the Steam branded model is the only one that will work.

Like I said, it doesn't say anything about a Steam-specific VR headset, which is what your wording is indicating.

So, these games will ONLY work with an HTC Hive bought from Steam, they won't work with an Oculus Rift purchased from Amazon or wherever?

Thank you. Didn't mean to be so picky, but I didn't want people to think that there were no choices or alternatives.

There are cheaper VR headsets out there, the market isn't ready for the masses yet, but it will get there.

It's ok. I appreciate it.

At the time I wrote the post, I wasn't thinking and didn't realize there were other off brands. I just know they are extremely expensive so I posted steam's version because I thought they thought of the idea. Ofc this is very stupid and ignorant of me because there's always gonna be an off brand of any piece of technology. I was just thinking SteamLink... Well then steamVR.

Anyways I'm not very informed about the hardware section of gaming. That's just me being ignorant and well, not thinking through things. Sorry :/

That's OK, this is a relatively new thing. Here are some articles to give you an idea of what is going on:

http://www.wareable.com/headgear/the-best-ar-and-vr-headsets

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/132945-best-vr-headsets-to-buy-in-2016-whatever-your-budget

http://www.theverge.com/a/best-vr-headset-oculus-rift-samsung-gear-htc-vive-virtual-reality

And for the record, Oculus are the ones who started the VR market, so Steam is following them.

No one knows. They might wait until the last day to do a happy hour. Sales are a bit low compared to other bundles which already had their happy hour, so I'd bet they're going to do one for this bundle too. There's still time, though :)
