So I'm kinda bored and decided to play my Gamecube. Not as fun as I used to remember as a kid, but it passed the time. What are some good gamecube games you know of/use to play that were really good? I'm planning on seeing if I can get some on eBay to play so I can have something to do.

EDIT: After seeing A LOT of reruns of the same games, I probably should have specified. Any hidden gems? As in, games people probably don't know about? (Partially because it will probably end up being cheaper)

Wasn't Resident Evil Zero for GC? Or the RE1 Remake whatever that was called. And RE4 like someone else already mentioned. Never had a Gamecube or any Nintendo system since N64, just remembered those being exclusives that the rest of us took notice of.

I think all the Resident Evil games (that are worth playing at that time) were out on the Gamecube lol. Zero, 1, 4 and Veronica.

Forgot about Veronica. Had it on Dreamcast and never finished it. Phantasy Star Online occupied most of my time (the day I was gifted hacked weapons online by a cheater destroyed my life,,, although I never really had much of one anyway).

I constantly read that Phantasy Star is a good game, is it really? I played it a few months ago and thought it was really really confusing. It was like Digimon World 4 but didn't give me ANY direction on where I was supposed to go so I ended up going to this forest where I was mauled by monsters numerous times. I really couldn't enjoy it

Are you sure it was Phantasy Star that you played? Because it's nothing like Digimon. Or maybe you were referring to a certain level in that game. In PSO you basically pick a planet or a section or whatever and you warp down to it and just follow a pretty linear path from one side of the map through several loading zones and then eventually to the boss of that area and you pick up drops and loot along the way. If you were playing it and you got killed a bunch you might have been picking a world or map that was too high for your level. And it's always a good idea to take other people with you. You could play PSO offline but it was much easier to bring a group with a variety of the classes including some healers. I can't remember the name of the different classes but I played the damage dealing type that used two pistols instead of heavy weapons and I picked the human type race instead of the elf looking people who are better for magic and also I believe there were robots as a race too. Heck they might even still have servers up for the bootleg Japanese PC release which I don't think was ever sold here. See what you've done to the rest of my night.... No Protagoras... you have plenty of games on Steam to play, you just traded for Balrum. You will not search the web for PSO and install it and try to get on a server that might still be running once you look for and install a potential patch! Okay other Protagoras, I'll play Balrum instead.

Anyhow it was more like a sci-fi Monster Hunter game. You had a central hub which was just a lobby really and then worlds that you could go to in groups of 3 or 4 or something. 3 I think. Man I cannot stop thinking about PSO now. Thanks alot!!! ALL YOUR FAULT! Totally whitelisting you. And yes I do mean whitelist.

I actually kind of compared it to Digimon because it was co-op, I guess other than that they are different. Anyway, It's Phantasy Star Online 1 and 2 PLUS right? I guess ill give it another try (probably preferably when my cousins come over so there is four of us). Too bad the online is probably dead anyway >.> But thanks for the totally random Whitelist!

Gladius is available on the Gamecube, and it's a really enjoyable strategy game. It has the option to play it co-op, and much like with X-Men Legends/Ultimate Alliance games, if you section off specific character slots per player, it ends up being quite enjoyable for it.
(Though it's just as fun in single player. ^.^)

That's really the only "niche" game that stood out for me (enough that I have it on multiple consoles, even- ha :P).

I saw a gameplay video of it and it showed a lot of the combat however I'm not a huge fan of that kind of gameplay. Like Final Fantasy Tactics for example (or at least that's how I took the video as) but thanks for the recommendation!

It's quite different from FFT in the specifics, but there's enough fundamental similarities that if you're not a fan of that overall genre style, then yeah, it wouldn't appeal to you :(

Basically most anything else I enjoyed on Gamecube was 1st-party or well-publicized/AAA.
If you wanna update your OP with the genres you prefer, I can try digging through the games I still have and see what stands out. :)
(Though the vast majority of what I own is going to be adventure, RPG, strategy, or co-op, same as on PC. ~.^)

I actually like all kinds of genres so its hard to pick out what I don't like because when I think of a game, I like that kind of genre. Other than whatever genre FFT and Gladius is of course. You can literally just list all kinds of games you loved to play on the GC and of course ones people probably don't know. Part of this thread is also for people to share their experiences with others so that people can say, "You know what, ill give that a try" and not just myself. I think the Gamecube is young enough and has good enough graphics to make people still play it.

Lol yeah I'm not a fan of the current Wii U Mario party game. Whenever my cousins and I get together even though we have a Wii U to play the new one we still play the older one.

I'll happily suggest GUN. Yeah, it's pretty short, and not very big, but I had a blast playing it. It was pretty much the best Western-themed game until Red Dead Redemption rolled around.

So many great ones that have been listed already

I still play my Gamecube regularly and my favorite are:
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Sonic Adventures 2
The Legend Of Zelda: The Windwaker
The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Super Smash Bros Melee
Mario Party 6 + 7
Resident Evil 4
Super Mario Sunshine

Don't forget Gamecube games can be played on the WII. ALSO if you buy this disc (below) you can play gameboy games on your Gamecube.

I would rather not pay for the Gameboy connecter mainly because I don't think I have the traditional Gameboy advance anymore, just the SP and that probably doesn't connect. Plus its probably going to cost me an arm and a leg. But thanks for the reccomendations!

You don't need a connector just the disc. At the bottom of your gamecube there is a slot that fits game boy advance games. :) just put the disc in the top where gamecube games go and then put the advanced game at the bottom. Then you can play game boy games with a game cube controller

The Gamecube does not have a Game Boy game slot. You need the Game Boy Player add-on attached to the bottom, along with the disc to run it. Then you can play Game Boy/Game Boy Color/Game Boy Advance games. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Boy_Player

Star Wars rogue leader & Rebel strike are the only GC exclusives I'm kinda jealous about. Because they're good games mechanically, and good additions to the Star Wars extended universe lore wise.
Also Ikaruga on GC is supposedly the most faithful port of the arcade version, but in terms of features it's missing the Prototype mode that he steam version has,

I don't think Evolution Worlds has been mentioned yet. It's a cool JRPG with mystery-dungeon aspects. Might be tougher to find than some of the more popular games people have listed, but worth it IMO.

I have the GameCube and I have
Starfox Adventures,
The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker,
Metroid Prime,
Super Mario Sunshine (Great Hidden GEM),
Pokemon (both)
Star Wars Rebel Strike (best SW spaceships battles ever)

Try with these

I can +1 all the mentions of:
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Tales of Symphonia
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean
Metroid Prime
Beyond Good & Evil
the Legend of Zelda games/ports

Also:
Prince of Persia Sands trilogy (Sands of Time, Warrior Within, The Two Thrones)
Lost Kingdoms
Summoner: A Goddess Reborn

If you like Mega Man and/or Sonic the Hedgehog, there's some great compilations to look for on the Gamecube:
Mega Man Anniversary Collection
Mega Man X Collection
Sonic Mega Collection
Sonic Gems Collection

-1 to Mega Man Anniversary Collection, but due to jump-shoot button placement of the GameCube controller. Quite awkward for most platformers.
