Most I've seen is people trying to avoid the spam of "thank you" messages, not because they are mean, but for a rather practical reason.

They frequently use bots to enter into giveaways and you will gain +5 same comments from one user. This is not a "thanks", it's a "spam-thanks". You ask not to do it in the giveaway description - but your request is ignored.

Those comments are placed on my public giveaways. They've placed their names in the open. BTW I did not call those displayed as bots - "user A, user B, user C is a bot" - this is just shown as an example of what I see very frequently.

LOL, I had the same experience. All you have to do is give signs of life for someone to BL you.
It felt so unfair initially, but you just need to grow from there and understand that's part of the ecosystem. Just be free and enjoy your winnings, if possible GA some yourself and keep the circle of life in SG rolling.

As many people already said: Don´t take it to heart, someone will blacklist you no matter what you do. But those are more than countered by the huge amount of awesome people!
And the big upside: Those who blacklist you can´t enter your giveaways either. I always took great joy in that fact.

Do not worry. You can be added to the blacklist just because. Someone not liked your avatar, someone not liked that you entered his giveaways, someone not liked that you won something etc. You don't even need to write anything or start discussion with someone. Just forgot about that tab and do not bother, better care about whitelist :)

When someone blacklists you, it means you can't participate in their giveaways, and in return they can't participate in yours. So there is a solution - start making giveaways so that they will regret that they cannot participate in them :)

the only thing that blacklist does is make it so you can't enter giveaways and that is both ways so people who add people are band from entering the giveaways of the people they blacklist as well as banning the people they blacklist - maybe it's because you have won 3 games and not made any giveaways yet? so maybe they think your just another taker and will give 0 back (too many people like that on here) but anyway it's not that bad really

Some people also blacklist winners to give people who still didn't win any of their giveaways more chances. I don't do this, but there's definitely some people who do it, so you were not necessarily blacklisted out of toxicity

Making wl-only giveaways for the start is not the best idea, as for me, you need at least 5 entries to recieve some XP in return, and are you sure that you have enough whitelisted people who want to enter them?
It is still okay to give away something, but you just started, and some leveling up will be good for you too.

oh the textorcist is a really neat game, very hard for just 1 person, i beated it with my bf moving the dude and i typing, it is really fun with a friend but the story is quite skippable
i recommend you maybe keep it for yourself and try it, is very interesting, specially considering how scarce the typing kinda games are

The only guy i blacklisted so far after 5.5 years was this dude who ignored my messages for a week after redeeming a key and not claiming victory. I got so mad because of him

Hah, that's the same reason for my first blacklist too! It's also reason I put up my public GA's to level 1+. Then it happened again with people who gave away one really cheap game/DLC years ago to get to level 1 and entered 100k GA's. I do level 2+ now and never had a problem. There's definitely a big bot and/or leecher problem for level 0's and 1's.

I've found level 3+ for publics helps speed up the redeeming/feedback. 1+ usually for group giveaways so I can reach the 5+ entries.

Dont feel bad about it, i've been put on hundreds of blacklists in the past 2 years.
I've also been put on about a dozen whitelists in that time.
Generally people will take you off their blacklist if you give more than you take.

It might be different reasons depending on the person (got the game key free/bundled/cheap and want to share, not interested in the game, just to be nice, want a higher contributor level, etc.)
As for "ask for something in exchange later", I haven't seen someone do this yet, but it sounds like it is against the guidelines.

i just said that because if you gift someone just to be nice, you shouldnt expect that the person that recieve the gift do the same. (of course, that would be nice) But wouldnt be greedy to give to people that just gives back one day or another? i am not saying that is wrong or anything, i am just asking if it makes sense at all. atleast for me i blacklist people mostly when they spam thanks on every giveaway i have (then i may verdict that it is a bot) or if they got like 1000 giveaway wins and never gave anything away. i know regional difference exist and games can be depending where you are 10% of your monthly salary. i dont blame you to not afford your games because i was in the same situation and it got only better in the last ten years for me.
had also someone who blacklist to mark which he had gifted before ...
the best thing is dont bother about blacklist, one of the first thing i made was a post with unicode characters and it got me to +11 blacklist immeadiatley :D

first, you can send something if you CAN ... i dont demand that you make a givaway right now. i dont know your situation and you will most likely be happy if you get the luck to not buy a game that you really like
latin american countries are landmines of prices when it comes to digital hard and software. you dont need anything expensive, look up for some indies that you like, or if you find good deals that arent too expensive for you. if you are unsure, what to give you can look up for the community wishlist

Don't think so much about a few blacklists, they are normal here as soon as you dare to write a opinion somewhere. Special if that opinion is different from the masses one.
In your case it is maybe if you say thanks for a GA before you won it.
Because that is, mostly, done by autojoiner accounts that have a automatic thanks script running.
People are lately very annoyed because of this autojoiners with their thanks script i am too.
So this could be a sensitive thing that get fast Blacklists, besides that i can't think on something, for a fresh account like yours, that you could avoid.
Because you wrote you want to make GAs i want to advice that you set a minimum level for your GAs because each one that gave one, not free, game is, at least, level 1.
Easy solution to hold the worst rulesbreakers, win resellers, autojoiner user and bots outside (40% of the level 0 accounts have infractions for unactivated or multiple wins + the ammount of used autojoiners are much more as in higher levels).
And besides that it lowers the cases of problems with your winners.

Scroll down to the bottom and look at the "per level" info and you see 970k are level 0 and only around 165k have a level, 113k of them are level 1. So around 15% of the members from sg gave something and only 4% gave more as 5 games.

If I want to thank prior to a win, just for the creation of a ga, I usually go for something.. A bit different. Just to distinct myself from the typical bot lang xD Or I make a full comment + the thank you xD

a detailed comment, and on the topic, of course, will not raise questions. bots are usually very boring and monotonous, besides, looking into the profile and seeing the ratio of the time since registration and the number of written comments, there are usually no questions left.

If you want some, then advice people that make level 0 GAs that they should create in the future the GAs with a level restriction because 40% of the level 0 accounts have unactivated wins or multiple wins on sgtools.
I am very successful with that and get each few days one or more -most likely from level 0 accounts and partly from their higher multiaccounts- :-D
So they give me tracks to hunt the multiaccounters down. Win:win for sg and me, in the most cases :-D
