Unhappily, a bit too common, but... oh well.

As others have mentioned, some people are probably assuming you are a bot account since you have only been registered for a few days, are level 0, but have already won some games. For some people, just being level 0 is enough for a blacklist.... You mentioned that you want to make some giveaways of your own, so that will raise your level and put some people at ease. Actually playing the games you win will go a long way, too (idling for cards first is fine, but if you don't make a serious attempt at playing at least some of your wins, it will turn some people off).

But most importantly just keep going about your business, enter some giveaways, and have fun!

Oh man, don't even sweat it. People blacklist, that's what they do. Could only be that you've been here 4 days and already won 3 GAs and that made a couple of people bitter.
Kudos btw, 3 for 300 entries, that's an amazing rate! Took me about 1000 entries to get my first win I think

Regardless, it really doesn't matter. Two blacklists. Hundreds of thousands of users. A couple thousand gifters. You won't miss their GAs and in any case they will miss yours (blacklists go both ways).

As I always say, the best way to make up for blacklists is to make great GAs the people who blacklist you will miss out on ;)
Hell, the best way to make up for blacklist is don't look at that blacklist counter, it serves no purpose but to aggravate.

blocking me from entering to win a game will never sway me from speaking my mind.
actively using their blacklist as a form of punishment for having opinions that differ from theirs is a fascist move and speaks volumes about the type of person they are.

dont sweat being blacklisted, whats the odds that the person actually does gives, or there give are nothing more the $1 bundle trash, or that you will actually win.
i blacklist those who blacklist me first and those who didnt say thank you for the win.

I was wondering the same thing. Before I even started using my account I was already on one blacklist.

It's not that I'm offended, I'm just really curious what happened there. Did I piss off someone in multiplayer and they went to find my account here just so they can blacklist me? I'll never know.

To add to the mystery, it seems that I'm now on no blacklists at all. Puzzling stuff.

Yup, same happened to me. I am also added to a whitelist, I really don't know why! I barely comment here.

it tells them when you blacklist someone? lol i always assumed it was annonymous when i was blacklisting all those people lol

I mean it is possible to track them down with ESGST, but kind of hit or miss because it checks the comments/giveaways/discussion creators (depending on where you run the check) and looks at their giveaways (so you would still have to know where to look because it doesn't search all users)

But more seriously -- as others said, that's just how things are around here. Blacklists are a fact of life. Don't pay them much attention.

If you dare breathe on the platform you will end up in a blacklist or 2 dont sweat it :p

Picture SG as a super-organism. Every newcomer to the bloodstream will trigger an immune reaction inevitably. I do hope you stick around despite your first impressions there are a lot of nice people here.

Not sure how many people were whitelisted by him, but please check iankiller64's page to see if you can enter the whitelist giveaways. They need at least 5 entries for a winner to be chosen.

Welcome to steamgifts! There are multiple reasons for blacklist. Be it reasonable or erratical Just live with it :D.

Yeah, don't sweat this too much. Happens all of the time. Most of the time, I have no idea who blacklisted me or why. I'm generally pretty polite and positive, and only get into a confrontation when someone is an epic douche canoe. So it really is a mystery for me the majority of the times it happens.

The thing to keep in mind is that blacklists are automatically bi-directional. So, when someone blacklists you, then they are also essentially blacklisting themselves from any of your GAs. I tend to, uh, do a lot of GAs (next goal is 10,000). So when someone blacklists me, they're generally cutting themselves off from a lot more GAs than from whatever they think they're preventing me from entering. What's really funny is that I often do these big "events" where I give away 100-200 games all in a week, and it's tied to some silly graphical story or even a small video game that you have to complete to enter the GAs. Whenever I host my next one, a bunch of blacklist entries often fall off because people want to participate in the event. It's pretty hilarious.

At this stage in the game, I really don't even look at it any more, and I basically don't blacklist anyone unless they do something really egregious. I think that there are like 10-12 people total on my BL after over 4.5 years around here. If other people want to have silly, knee-jerk reactions about stuff that doesn't matter and blacklist everyone who doesn't do things exactly the way that they do, it's fine by me. That's their bad karma to lug around, and they're usually shooting themselves in the foot, anyway.

So don't worry about it. Just participate in the community and the regulars will start to recognize you. Join high quality groups and participate actively in what they do (and you'll start getting invited to private ones if you're really active and have a positive giving ratio, especially in terms of real CV). Be cool, give lots back to SG, and you'll end up on a lot more whitelists than blacklists, which will more than make up for any toxic or bitter people that just can't stop themselves from throwing negativity around.

In the meantime, welcome to SG, and know that there are more fun, interesting, and chill people here than tools. The former usually stick around and the latter eventually get filtered out. You're gonna be just fine.

I have seen discussions of people asking to give more space to the blacklist... with that you see how toxic they are :P

People blacklist me because I have a cute cat so they're jealous. But I don't blame them. Just look how cute he is!
