Hello guys,

I wanted to ask if there is a quick way to mass sell Steam trading cards on the community market.

I'm aware of the Steam inventory helper plugin, but having to verify every listing on my mobile phone is very time consuming.

Is there a way to confirm the all at once, or a way to get rid of it?

Thank you in advance.

Sadly, I think Valve hates us all (I don't have a smartphone so I'm stuck with 15 days ontop a confirmation mail. Thanks Valve... thanks a lot for ruining the entire trading card stuff for me).

Use ASF. You even can import the credentials from yor phone (so no 7 days hold) and it can automatically accept trades/markedtconfimations.

Can't find this feature in ASF, the only thing I found was "SteamTradeMatcher" which auto-confirms trade request. Didn't find anything about market confirmation.

Could you help me, much appreciated.

I've been afraid to test this even on a virtual machine since I heard it's a big security risk. and even then doesn't it have like a 7 day cooldown because you registered a new machine on to the steam account. also if you use a virtual machine so you can destroy it afterwards for said security reasons, what happens if steam for some reason want's to ask for a login or something like that on that virtual winauth that doesn't exist anymore

Winauth is just as safe as idlemaster and asf.

I would use ASF, it can accept the pending request automatically. (If you tell him to).

The security issue consists in the fact that you're beating the point of two-factor authentication. Think of ATM cards (not credit cards), which, at least in Europe, can be used to pay in shop. They work on two-factor security, too: having the card in your hands and knowing the PIN number. If you write the number on the card itself, you collapse the two factors on one. In the same way, if you run the TAN generator on the same machine where you login, you weaken tw-factor security because an attacker controlling such machine will control all factors. This is why mobile phones are used to generate TANs. A virtual machine doesn't make much of a difference because the attacker would be likely to be able to access that, too. But Winauth doesn't pose security risks of itself. It justs beats the purpose of the whole thing.

FInally, if you destroy or lose access to the VM running Winauth, it's the same thing as if you lost the smartphone you use to generate TANs the proper way. Meaning: it happens, but it will probably raise a flag if it happens too often.

Except these days you can just tap your card to pay for small purchases without any other verification thanks to NFC. For most it would be much worse if someone bought 20x20€ worth of stuff with your card than losing some Steam cards.

I don't know why you said "except": I agree with what you wrote but I don't think it contradicts my words (which were a mere explanation). In any case, I don't use NFC! :)

Just as an example of how people don't want or need useless security hassle for things they consider not worth it. So many pick running the auth on PC instead of the horrible crapp that's almost useless for anyone who does bit more trading. So the except was just for banks and credit cards having less security for your money than Steam has for your couple cent cards, not really to contradict what you said.

Got it. It's true that Steam's security infrastructure feels a bit overkill right now. The fact is probably that they don't have and don't want to build the support infrastructure required to properly manage what is in fact an economy involving trade, commerce and crime. So they decided to focus on prevention, at the expense of user convenience.

no just use homeline or email, if you can't contact me right now via homeline or email i won't be able to respond you with a cell phone neither cause i am doing some thing else.

That way i can save 800-900 $ on phone services, crazy ??

( my price is in canadian (1.2 canadien = 1 us) )

So understand what i mean by wast of money, they charge you 60 $ (with 4-6 gb of internet data) + 15 % taxe + other taxes, they have the monopole in canada (at least 2 provider) so they can make their price higher.

i'll probably own a phone it it was 20-25 a years but 60 a month + 15 % no i won't. I know their is 40 $ but they have 0 or 50 Mb of internet data so still pretty expensive for some thing that you won't use considering that you have infinite usage in your home, every gas station, mcdonald, well pretty much every where for free anyway

Ah, Canada. You know, for being one of the best places on Earth, your communication infrastructure even in cities kinda sucks. A lot. My condolences. :(

well, if you consider all our kind public infrastructure (road (they are building them for the past requirement (20 years backward) instead of what we will need in 1-2 years ), telecommunication, the ''free'' healthcare ''$207 billion in 2012, averaging $5,948 per person'' so even if you are not sick like 90 % of the population, you still pay for it and take years to be able to see a doctor, but if you are in the private, you wait about a week or at least a month) so i don't think that our communication infrastructure is some thing that important for now lol

Harsh words.
I know all about desktop authenticators... but I still wont use them. If it was just for trading/market perhaps... but it's not, it's for each and every single steam login. Which means using it instead of having a "no, f* this bs" option by Valve gives one:

Decreased security due to 3rd party software.
Requirement to each time you start up Steam, which is about 5x per day for me.
*If you use more than one PC you need to carry your credentials on a USB-stick, which is again more decreased security, large increased potential of account being lost from theft or loss (impossible with my PC account before this Valve crap), having to have the desktop authenticator on each PC you use Steam on, and if you do forget the USB stick it's not just an inconvience, you're completely locked out of your account.

And even if one was to go through all that trouble, you would still need to do another stupid change, authorise each and every single sale of a 5-cent card. Which is beyond ridicilous and like the OP, who really wants to do so much shit. Easier just to stop giving Valve money.

I got tired of that too, so I got bluestacks. It's like an android emulator in it's own way. Completely free and the Steam mobile authenticator works on it, suggest it to anyone who doesn't like the wait and doesn't have a smartphone.

but bluestacks is much bigger than winauth, and its full of bloatware.

I've tried both and Winauth is definitely the way to go. Just make sure to set a password for logging into it at a bare minimum, and also use its "export" function to backup the data onto a USB stick or whatever.

Nope, not really you could always trade all of them for a game or something, but I think a lot of people just want cards for cards , might be worth it to try and make yourself a trading topic.

I just want to sell them, they can amount ~30€ more or less.

Oh well, that means I'll have to manually confirm each one.

Thanks Obama Valve!

Jeha but why don't keep a limit like before.
No confirmation needed for stuff under 20 cent or something. would help alot.

Permalink

no it would not , a hacker could break into an account and just sell all the cheap stuff, and still make bank - I have over 1k cards nearly all worth less then 20¢

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The thing is, he needs to buy them as well.
If I have something for 100$ I can put it on the market for 3 cents and buy it -> 86,94$ profit.(when you sell it on the market yourself)

If I have an item for 0.1$ I can sell it for 3 cents, but then most likely someone else (with an open buying thing) gets it. So with cheap (and generic) items it's next to impossible to make profit. Even if there are no Buyers you make 50 dollars with 1000 0,1 cards. (when selling it). That is just not worth the effort.

Even if you say there are people that want this pain in the ass, just implement a setting in the authentificator under what value you don't want to confirm and if you get scammed out of it, volvo doesn't care.
But no, because of a bunch of morons and whining kids, steam has to fuck everone in his ass.

Or..you could search for someone to trade you the cards for keys or items. And then sell those. But you will lose some value,

Are they crazy? Now I wanted to sell around 10 cards for just 5-8 cents, and I was forced to approve it also on my mobile phone !
They should make approving just for 1dollar or 1€ and higher, and not for cents :-(

Don't forget about the ''15%'' fee that if you put an item at 0.01 cents they remove 1 cent from your balance

Thought the same when the app came out. I agree that anything listing under $1/1€ with the average sales price of the item being under $1 for the past month should not require approval. The second part of this would limit someone who obtains access to your account from dumping any high value items without approving it via the app. Guess Valve prefers to annoy us.

Best solution is: Download a cellphone macro. Some are super simple to work with, and usually they work flawlessly, and best thing is that they are free! I had one installed before steam mobile app came in to farm some games while my cell was charging during my sleep, and as soon as I saw the terrible accept system of the steam app, I instantly used the macro and solved my problem. Seriously, it's the ultimate best way to do it, even when it's only 5 listings, why do it manually when you can just let the macro do it? :)

my suggestion is watch tv and then with your phone press the confirmation button over and over again... you dont even need to look at the screen
