Seriously what the hell is up with this site?

Indeed, ads can be localized, but this one sure looks like malware.

Regarding the loading speed of SG: I noticed it's much quicker to click the main page again than using the back button. Not sure why that is; the latter should be faster, so I guess some optimization could be done there.

The only "Ads" I see (Adblock OFF for this website) are the GamersGate/GMG sales banners at the bottom of the page.

I had these ads once. They are not from the site. I got them because some weird fucking toolbar got installed with a program I downloaded. Search for that shit and remove it.

Any site that uses databases can be a total bitch where resources are concerned - if it offends you so much, go offer to assist with hosting costs. If I remember right, they're moving over to new hardware soon anyway, so hopefully it'll increase the connections/speed.

I don't see any ads, and I'm not using adblock.
Those ads are there because of a plugin you might have installed to watch movies or shows in some website (Remember having the same issue after installing one). Just reinstall Chrome.

I do frequently have to refresh up to 5 times to get a page to load, but it's hard to complain about a site that exists to give and receive gifts. You'll survive.

First off, you have adware installed on your computer, second, it's your computer not the website.

I never have annoying ads on my side. By the way, the server thing is also on your side. :)

It`s not my computer. I got this problems when wintersale started (large burden on the site). Site need to be optimized.

At times this site runs very slow for me, but I dont see any ads. I use Firefox

I just checked my other laptop which has no adblock. there is not a single ad on this site.. except for Gamersgate.etc...

I have never seen such ads. However, the site is mostly terribly slow. From what I understand, there are browser settings which would remove the need to keep refreshing, related to how long it tries to open a page?
