Only 3.5 hours into it and there's been so many glitches. There's the Riddler glitch that everyone and their mother is complaining about on the Steam & WB forums where you can't get through the ventilation shaft. I had the Killer Croc audio/flickering glitch as most everyone seems to have also. And then on Anarchy bomb #3 mission I am stuck falling through the map endlessly. Restarts don't fix it. Not alone on this problem either. Pretty much have to restart the game from the beginning now. I'll wait until they fix it first I think. I am so disappointed I paid full price for this game. I was totally into the story, too, and loved the fight with Deathstroke.

I've only had the Enigma ventilation shaft problem, myself. I guess I must be more lucky than some. Sucks you have to re-do all that work.

Everything has been fine for me, Apart from the Riddler tower in Burnley at the ventilation shaft. I must've been one of the lucky people. Other than that bug the game so far is a perfect addition to the series imo.

Sadly, so true. I pre-ordered that Pool Nation game too. $8. Why not, right? The day it was released the dev's posted in the games forum with a sticky topic "The Beta is released!" Like, uhh... why is a beta an official release? It's a fun game, but it glitches like crazy. Maybe it's fixed now, but to get it to launch that first week at least, you had to turn off any of the graphics options. Why can't my GeForce 660 handle a billiard game when my NES could 30 years ago lol

They are working on a patch, hopefully these are things that don't take too long to fix. There is a bypass for the Burnley Tower though. http://youtu.be/HkDLaojdCCw

Until these things are fixed though, I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with Origins Blackagte to fill my Batman needs.

Bullshit? I've played tons of games as a kid with no game breaking bugs. In the past year alone I've played 2 releases that forced me to restart my game from the beginning all because the developers fucked up hard. On top of that, how many games as of late have patches within the first month, if not the first week of release.

Two of the most famous : it 's possible to jump over the pole in the first Super Mario Bros , doing so will lead you in an endless empty level until you run out of
time and die . Also the world - 1 , a glitched water level with coins and enemies that loops back continuously. Perhaps the most known glitch is Missingno from
Pokemon red / blue for the Gameboy.
Google " famous glitches" and check for yourself, most of them belong to older ages of videogames .

the reason is simple.......10 or so years before games was built upon a little pool of memory so the problems that can appears was 15% or lower{depent the company skills} now because of the big pool of memory used from games this has increase to 85% and over could be.Also weak systems make problematic the gameplay sometimes.

So somehow, the buyer at fault for buying a game on release and expecting the devs to have done quality assurance to ensure their product is in sellable condition? You are everything wrong with the gaming industry's standards.

Yes, the smart thing to do in almost any case nowadays is to wait, but that should not be the case. And especially with the previous two games being practically flawless, it's a big hit to consumer faith.

We have late 2013. The days with stable releases, no DRM that fucks up your system and kind support are gone for a very long time now. Who ever trusts a developer these days and pre-orders a game because of the stupid pre-order DLC-shit should be punshed in the face for crying later because he is the reason this stuff works. The money is gone and shitstorms don't do shit. Need proof? EA is still out there (Origin, SimCity, Dead Space 3, ...).

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh, lord, Origin and EA bitching as a deflection to actually answering the question. Okay, thanks. Can safely ignore you now. The proof is you. You are the one letting it happen by being so passively accepting of it all. I buy day one from people I believe deserve it. I don't from those I have reason to doubt.

1 decade ago

I let it happen? I don't buy on the first day, I buy when I know they don't try to sell me crap (or in a lot of cases, when the price is down to the value of the product). I don't care if they sell lousy console ports, not working games... because I don't buy them.

Yes, we're to blame for expecting a complete product on the day it's released.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Um, that's how it's supposed to be released. At least major bugs like being stuck in a room. Didn't anyone play through the story? I could see if it was like a hardware specific issue like they just didn't test on some random hardware configuration, but A LOT of people are having that Riddler bug. Many people are falling through the map endlessly too. Those are big problems. A buyer should expect at lease some level of competent quality assurance. I hope you don't use the same philosophy when buying food. "I bought this bag of chips from the store as soon as it arrived. It's okay that there's maggots in the bag. Bugs are to be expected!"

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So according to you it's the buyer's fault because he's got too much expectations?

A big studio like this should have Beta tested and made sure their new release was actually ready. Glitches that are fixed with a patch at a latter date is one thing.. game breaking bugs that stop you from being able to actually play through the game is something else. If they offer you a a pre-sale for a game they should at least deliver a finished product, not a half-tested botched game.

Reading your comment and seeing how you're complacent with that kinda stuff .. facepalm

He's not calling him Nigma though. He is clearly calling him Enigma like a code name rather than his real name. You can see it in the subtitles. I thought that was odd, too. Why not just call him Riddler? Not a big deal, but obviously creates a minor WTF moment.

He hasn't taken the name Riddler yet, in Origins. This is supposed to be before a lot of Batman history happens. Edward Nigma (or E.Nigma) was what he went by before he went totally crazy.

I'm hearing mixed things about this, which is saddening considering how deeply I've fallen in love with Arkham City now that I've finally gotten around to it. Are the new devs just totally out of their league or is it still a very good game, but the complaints seem more common because of how damn amazing AA and AC were?

1 decade ago

Is still a very good game. Hell, better than City, and it does definitively reaches Arkham Asylum goodness. However, it lacks pollish, and it has some bugs.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I was enjoying it a lot. Then it broke. I don't want to restart for it to break again. So that's the downside. There are some minor issues beyond the major bugs. I think combat is slightly, and I emphasize slightly, less fluid in Origins than in City. Sometimes my combo breaks for weird reasons like the logic is off on where he is swinging his fists.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So far I'm enjoying it more than AC. There are a lot of surprises and the campaign so far has been good, giving each assassins a fair amount of screen time which is nice. There also seems to be a lot more content and the multiplayer is actually really good fun, And I'm one who doesn't usually enjoy playing online I'd suggest getting it if you enjoyed the other games.

Bugs aside it's definitely better than a 6/7. It's not innovative at all. It's just more of the same, but what's wrong with that? The Batman games are excellent. If it's not broke, don't fix it right? I like the selection of villains and the Deathstroke fight was fantastic.

Only problem I have encountered was during the deathstroke fight even though I enjoyed that fight. But during the quicktime events, on the first evade/dodge, if you press Y(using a controller) more than once then it will count the second time you press it as early for the 2nd doge.

Not a huge problem but I'm trigger happy and took me a few times to figure out that was what was happening.

so you call a challenging fight a buggy fight? amazing people these days. if it's too hard it's definitely buggy. stop with the button spamming and maybe, just maybe, the game will react accordingly. that fight is all about precision and calm.

This is the first time I've seen someone complaining about the Deathstroke fight being buggy. All it took me was some patience and it ended up being one of my favourite boss battles ever.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I agree with this. My first time on that fight I got a little button spammy. Then I repeated it and just waited for the counter signals. Time slows down so you have reaction time. It was a challenging fight even then because it was easy to make a mistake, but I didn't find that fight to be buggy.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hey, I once twitched and double-clicked in a shooter while using a sniper rifle. If my character went through the whole animation of pulling the bolt, and then fired again despite my last input being way back, I think I'd count that as a bug. Unless it was intentional, then I would call that bad design.

If the game does it intentionally to force a state of focus on the player, then there should be a clear indication of what it is doing, otherwise it simply appears to be a bug. Given how many bugs the game apparently has, it's an easy mistake to make.

I knew better than to pre-order this after Arkham City had too many issues, but then I won Origins here anyway. So far I've only idled it though to get cards, I was going to start once I was done with Fable 3. Maybe now I'll wait until it gets its first patch.

The Burnley radio tower glitch is really annoying. And to make it better, the devs recommended you check out another glitch to bypass the glitch, which really boosts my faith in the rest of the game.

Sorry to hear that. I haven't had really any bugs so far. It crashed once while I was falling and on a couple occasions Batman spazzed out while gliding, but that's it. I guess I was one of the lucky ones.
