I know there was another discussion about this couldn't find it so I made a new one.
Personally I like to hide Visual novels (as I find them boring) and anything below 5 points.

When I'm down to like 9 points or when I want to join as many giveaways as possible to win some trash games.

Anything below 10 points and giveaways with 50+ copies - there are too many trash games so i try to hide most of them without wasting too much time

I personally like gore in games such as Doom. That's just me though.

VR and pixel art... (+ the dlc and the games I own already, but for some reason they still show here)

Games which are very popular in terms of GAs and which do not interest me. Alternatively, games with titles which sound good but which turn out to be bad.

If it was shat out by digital homicide.

Explain.

Digital homicide was a non-developer that churned out an endless slew of trash and asset flips before they were finally removed from steam entirely. A lot of them were given away for free en masse and when I notice any of their "games" in my library I delete them. I don't spend time hunting through hundreds of games, so I usually notice one or two here and there while I'm looking for something I want to play that isn't in my favorites list.

Games that I own.

With rare exceptions, I only hide giveaways for two reasons:

1) DLC I already own, or I already own a game that's been removed from Steam (like Digital Homicide stuff)
2) Games that I own on some other platform (I have Sonic Adventure 2 on Gamecube and don't need a Steam version)

Other than games and DLCs I already own, I hide crappy games, sports games, FPS games, VR games, survival games, zombie games, horror games, and in general any game that I have no interest in playing.

Games that are:
-Uninteresting or mediocre games. I may be that bored to eventually play them, but let's face it, that won't happen in decades. Be it a 2347th retro-inspired pixelplatformer game, or the current SlidingHentaiPuzzles89 from lewdlol420. Or The next Mortal Kombat because I played like 2 hours with 9th, and I barely play fighting games.

  • Games that I would not want even for free because repetitive, unappealing or other, personal problems. Like Beat Cop is claimed to be repetitive for 4++ hours - I rather skip that. I may be mistaken, but I rather take this bullet while playing my remaining 1400ish games.
-Weirdly enough, some new games. I don't want a 60$ CV dent on my profile if I can get the game for like 10-15$ in a year or two. I can wait. At least someone else will idle enjoy it while it is fresh.
  • Obvious trash? kind of goes with the uninteresting category. Like one of those assetflip platformer coincollecting game that has about 50 iterations at this point, from chef, to santa, to knights.
  • TBH I'm suspicious of games that have mixed or worse score, they very rarely have a value to them that outweights the shorcomings. I usually jsut click through the screenshots, and if it's not compelling at least, or have suspiciously high review rate compared to how weird it looks, I just mark it as not interested and hide it on SG. Though the 2D Superhot game was a lot, lot more fun than it should have been, based on how buggy and floaty and weird it was :D

I mostly only look at my wishlist stuff, maybe the recommended sometimes. (Yes, I sit at 400p almost constantly) so I never hide much on SG

I do hide things on steam queue though (mostly platformers anything that says "bullet hell" and a few that I just know I have no interest in)

  • VR games
  • asset flippers
  • games I already have on a different platform or launcher (though it's nice to consolidate all games into 1 library, I'd rather give another person a chance to try the game -- besides, I think at this point I am resigned to the fate of having a million different launchers each with their own libraries)
  • games with poor Steam reviews, or Metacritic PC ratings below 84 (I only have so much time, makes sense to only play games I'll likely enjoy! :)

When it's a wishlisted game from a new bundle, and I intend to buy it anyways (within the next days/week).

Apart from that, nothing really, as I only enter wishlisted and group GAs.

At 12,774 hidden games currently.

Visual novels, Hidden Object, VR, and hentai are insta hidden.

Also hide any game I wouldn't be interested in playing.

Also games I already own on consoles. No point in entering a GA for a game I can simply play on my PS4 any time I want.

I hide games with bad review and with no success. After I try to take games that I think.I can play a day.
To date I finished 50 games on 670 and have 67 on play. So I have to choose.

DLCs I already have, packages SG doesn't know I have, games I have on other platforms, and games with no single player.

I hid thousands of crappy games... there so many now... assets flips, shovelware of all kinds, achievements spam games, clickers, memes, date sims, stupid hentai puzzle games and other sex games, and all the pathetic obvious thrash "games" in general.

Also all visual novels, most anime and such as I would never play them.

Before entering a giveaway, I check its Steam page for genre, reviews and so on to decide if it's something I'd like to play. Some people have a massive wishlist that they use for guidance, I don't. I just decide as I go along.

If it's a game that I'll never play and there seems to be a bunch of giveaways for it, I'll hide it. Freebies that flood the site also get hidden. Also Definitive Editions for games that I already own, or DLCs that I already own.

Oh and anime games with tag "sexual content" = instant hide.

I'm over 14,500 hidden games.
Games I own.
Games I'm not interested in playing.

When I started on Steamgifts, I entered pretty much every giveaway I could. I won a good amount of trash that I just +1'd and farmed the cards for a nickel. Then I got wise. I make no promises about a deadline for me playing my wins. But I only enter giveaways for games I want to play. Every time I open the main page I hide more games.

I figure I have half of Steam's catalogue hidden right now, but they are definitely going to gain more games faster than I can hide them.

I regularly have 400 points just sitting there.
