One of the groups I liked released a new song and I'm curious what non-fans think of it. Maybe you can check it out and give me your thoughts on it?

Oh and yeah I need more people on my WL :p

Just leave your thoughts on the song/video below, don't be a huge leech and that's it!

Do you like listening to songs in languages you don't understand?

View Results
Yes, music is music regardless of language!
No, I like to understand what's being said.
I don't care as long as it sounds nice.
Potato? Kartoffel? Krumpir? Patata?

Not my type of music, but at least it had nice girls :)

Never heard of this group. But I also don't follow Kpop that much. I like the song. Not sure about the rap part though. But the song is good otherwise for me.

I don't care as long as it sounds nice. I'm italian but I always listened to american/english music even when I was a kid and did not understand a word.
I don't like this kind of music anyway

It's a nice song, Asians language just sound good, I think (I believe that one is Japanese, right?!)
For the question in the pool, doesn't really have an option for me. Like, I'll listen to a song in a language I don't know, but if I like the beat and stuff before I put it a playlist I'll try and find a translation for it. So: Yes, but I Iike to know what's being said.

For the whitelist, not sure I qualified, I'm not able to buy games to give it away (I can't buy those humble bundle because I don't own a credit card) so the one I got to give -- and any next one -- will be from cards and stuff on Steam. I try to play the ones I win but I'm little behind right now. So it's cool if you don't white list me.

It's Korean actually. But I agree, I tend to listen to a lot of different languages but I always end up looking at translations. It's also kind of fun for me to "guess" the meaning behind the words based on just music and emotions in songs.

Added you to WL for honesty then :)

I'm already on your whitelist so this is just for fun

Some of the best songs I've listened to are Japanese and I have no idea what the heck they are saying. As long as they sound good/catchy then I'll listen to it for days on end. Now a days people are addicted to those Spanish songs, I haven't gotten into them though

For the song you posted it sounds like if I listened to a few more times I would be hooked but for initial views doesn't sound that bad, since while I do listen to non-english songs its because they are opening/credit songs for my visual novels or jrpgs.

I actually listened to a bunch of J-Rock a few years back and this group, while Korean, has been known to have that "anime opening sound" in their songs usually so I guess that's why I got hooked on them.

Thanks for giving it a listen! :D

I havent listened to alot of Korean ones since well my stories don't tend to be Korean however I do have 2, dandelion which is a sure one and Nameless which I'm assuming is since by the same people and they aren't that bad of songs. Not my favourite of the bunch but certainly not terrible either

its always interesting seeing what the lyrics are behind them then thinking, what the heck is this? this makes no sense!

I actually think my most played VN was Taiwanese actually heh.
And that's so true! There are so many like that (but honestly when I give American pop a decent listen and lyric read I feel like I get just as baffled lol)

Not my usual, but surprisingly very nice. I liked the music and singing, and the video was pretty cool (thought I have no idea what it was about). If it was on the radio, I wouldn't change the channel. :)

As far as songs in other languages, it doesn't matter to me as long as they sound good. Though it does make singing along a fair bit harder. ;)

And yeah, I always go into these things with an open mind, but I'm usually disappointed or find that the music just isn't to my tastes, but the band you linked were actually rather good. What are your favorite songs by them?

By Dreamcatcher? There's Goodnight and Wake Up, again bit more on the rock side, and I also enjoy Sleepwalking (you'll notice there's a theme with their name and song/album titles haha they like sticking to their theme) which is more edm-ish type with some rock mixed in.
Listing that one since it's the most different on the spectrum since you said it's hard to guess your taste :p

My taste is mostly rock and punk. Bands like Bad Religion, Green Day, Rancid, Rage Against the Machine, Rammstein, Flyleaf, Evanescense, Metallica, Linkin Park. So Dreamcatcher is a bit outside my norm, but I liked the Piri song.

I'll check out the other songs you linked, thanks. :)

I like the music video better than the song. The high production value standard is very clear in how it sounds. What I mean is, it's obviously a big pop song from a big pop group produced and possibly written by many (expensive) people. Even though I can't understand a word in it, it sounds extremely generic. Now, that's not entirely a bad thing. If you're into mainstream pop music, this ticks all the boxes. It's not badly made or produced, it just has the same old sound and structure as all the made-for-radio pop songs out there.

That's true. I guess they're still a mainly pop group with some rock elements, just appealing more to the mainstream audience of casual listeners rather than actual rock/metal fans. Thanks for giving it a listen!

Hello.

Group recruitment is to recruit people to giveaway-oriented groups. Not to recruit people to whitelist.

I will change category of this discussion to general then, as it's created for various SG-related topics.

Yeah, we're not always around to check discussions regularly, and some may slip by. Same as creating topics "is it worth it to buy x" in "deals" section.

You're welcome!
Their title songs have that pop with rock mixed in sound, b-side tracks on albums tend to explore more different genders (some more pop, some more r&b) so they cover a lot.
Thanks for giving them a chance :)

I think it's interesting how sometimes when we "listen" to music but still have the urge to "understand" words in it to enjoy it.

I'll listen to any song that sounds good, but I feel like when you understand the lyrics it kind of puts you deeper in the mood, and it often tells a story of sorts. That said, when you can't understand the lyrics, it may as well be another background sound in an instrumental.
I don't dislike it though. This song has a pretty good beat to it.

Permalink

I agree! But sometimes I feel like not knowing the lyrics and it being "just another sound" makes you focus on the actual sound and/or emotions rather than ignoring it in favor of understanding the words.
Anyways, thanks for checking it out! :D

also... isnt first and third option basicly the same?

slightly. I was thinking of 1st option being for those who willingly seek out music in other languages and 3rd being more of a "ah it's playing in the background and sounds ok so I'll bob my head to the beat for now"
thanks for checking it out though!

ah i see. As a non-english mother tongueler (im german) ive always listened to english music since childhood without understanding.... so i guess its a bit diffrent for me... same for french ... and russian (though you could say this is my mother tongue as well)
also i like to listen to some japanese music as well. and if i generally like the sound of the band, i'll seek more of it as well.

Permalink

true but I also feel like english/american music is more forced on us so much that we're used to the "sound" of the language despite if we know it or not and people just listen to it even if they don't understand it. when you bring in other "non frequent" languages people sometimes get weirded out for some reason. but hey not me, and not you either apparently so that's cool :D

regarding the song, not my type of music, the girls are cute, the only language i listen to when it comes to music i don't fully understand is japanese(but even then i understand some of it due being an anime maniac XD).

I'd assume being an anime maniac, pretty girls in videos with pop/rock sound would be your thing :p
They're actually known as a Korean group that as the "anime opening" sound so if you're bored enough maybe checking out their other title tracks would be closer to the anime music you know.
Regardless, thanks for checking them out :D (and you already were on my WL!)

This is Kpop/rock fusion but its not really my cup of tea. Good video and production values but sounds too generic and cookie cutter to make it stand out. I am already on your WL so I thought I would at least comment on your thread. I hope you have yourself a nice weekend. :-)
