It's a campaign to give out free copies of the game instead of candy for Halloween. The code is the same on all coupons.

How does someone redeem this exactly? Because according to the fine print at the bottom of the page, it's US only.

Just purchased this in the sale anyway, prefer to have it on Steam for ease.

Ofc, there's no DRM.
Argh, am I the only one who hates DRM-free?!

He is my reasoning, Which is having everything on Steam makes it easy, I can install the game with it, and it will Auto Update for me whenever it needs to.
While with DRM Free Games, I have to keep a Link to the Download, and depending, have to download it again each update.

As for updates problem (because it's true, Steam makes it easier to install things - unless your internet dies on you...) - when was the last time you had to update your anti virus software? So, it's more of a cheap developers who doesn't made server for updates and put auto-update option in their games, not DRM-blessing.
Unless, of course, we'll treat requirement of being connected to Internet to download update as DRM.
