The recipient would have the game removed, not the account.

Your account might get suspended, but it'll be unblocked after you discuss with Steam Support. They have a weird policy of automatically blocking anything that's related to a violation or an issue. I guess it lets them see what's going on or something better. Presumably.

the payment for the gift can be charged back to the person who bought the gift- such as if the credit card was stolen. I think this is what the OP is trying to say; if this is the case, the gift would get removed from your account and the purchaser's account would be banned.

once some member of my gaming community sent me bf bc2 and then valve revoked that gift and blocked me out of my account. support replayed that there ware problems with the payment for that gift. And i got my account unblocked after a week of waiting and chating with support. Later it turned out that tad user was using stolen credit card infos to buy stuff online. So anything can happen :P

Super bad idea- that's a great way for gifters to get scammed by some jerk pretending to be the winner.
At least, until the mods enact the "can't see winner until they've received the gift" thing. (hint hint)

DO NOT do this. ONLY USE THE E-MAIL PROVIDED ON THIS SITE, USE NOTHING ELSE TO GET YOUR GIFT TO IT'S WINNER.
For fucks sake stop telling people to do this.

The account who bought it gets suspended, and the gift gets revoked.

Hi all,
I just entered a giveaway.
I understand that if you are gifted a game, but the gifter does a chargeback, the recipient would have their Steam account disabled.
What would happen at Steamgifts if this happens? Is there a risk involved?
Thanks all :)
