Updates from the market every few hours, shows you the cheapest badges to craft. Along with the appx "discout" you get from buying a game and selling the drops.

Handy if you are wanting to gain a level or two for your profile.

is there any use behind this card"game"? oO

in my opinion its only a waste of money.
steamlevels, profile backgrounds and emoticons. none of those things have any real benefits worth paying for...
afaik the only real benefit for a high steamlevel is a higher chance for booster packs to "drop". but it's pointless, because you buy/trade cards, to get a higher steam level, to get more cards, to get a higher steamlevel, to get more cards oô

so... whats so great about this card game?

And have more friends. Steam level increases the number of friends you can have.

Also it allows some kind of profile showcase.

ah ok, thanks for the info.

I don't really need this "benefits", anyway any other benefits for a higher steamlevel?

Well, every time you make a badge you also get a random discount coupon. Some are frankly lousy while others can be awesome. I got a 90% for Portal 2 so it was only 2 dollars. And if you are really lucky you can end up with a profile background that sells for more than the cards cost you.

a new way to waste your money for useless stuff on steam instead of spending them for buying games.i think achievements were ok and everyone should craft the badge by completing the game and not pay for it.

There are no badges able to be completed by beating/completing the game.

A higher profile level (every 10) makes it more likely to get booster packs. Considering that you can sell the cards from these booster packs, you can pull a profit even if you aren't buying at low prices just to resell on the weekends.

That's why he said: "i think [...] everyone should craft the badge by completing the game and not pay for it."...

I craft badges to give the developer more money while getting some token rewards back. CTHCC, for example, was a steal at .75 cents, but I don't want to just throw more money at them, so crafting cards gives a good game more money while I still get something back.

Thanks. Currently, my only use of cards are crafting badges for games I like/gives a cool badge/emoticon, and for that I use SteamCardExchange but this is great for leveling up badges. Thanks!

You can try this too.

Interesting spread of information. I'm content to just continue selling off my cards as I earn them. I'd rather put those dimes towards new games that use it to fabricate a colorful icon.

Most expensive card: Periasc by night (Foil), $130.41 USD

Checked price on that card immediately. Lowest is 28.75. Highest price the card has ever sold for is 8.91 on July 25th.

I don't know, something seems off. Still pretty useful as a general guideline. Points me in the right direction.

Card could've been taken off the market by seller.

It pulls the data from what is currently listed, not from what has sold.

Most expensive card: Blaster Tower (Foil), $69.00

As there is most than an hour delay between updates, common sense should tell us that they may not be 100% accurate.

On a side-note, Periasc by night (Foil) still has one listed at $130.01 USD so there are some bugs.

I have 0 programming experience, so I have no idea how easy or possible this would be, but it'd be great if there was a way to take out the outliers that are clearly Steam Wallet transfers and things like that.

Just a quick question about cards (didn't feel it was necessary to start a new topic just because of this):

I've played a few card-giving games since the concept became public. But I've only gotten 4 cards from each game (usually within the first hour).
Take Saints Row 3 for example. Within the first hour or so, I'd gotten 4 cards. I sold them, and since I've played about 10 hours and I've gotten nothing.

Do you only get 4 cards in total per game, or can you get more?
(And not talking about card designs, but cards in general)

You get a maximum of 1/2 total cards for each game, rounded up. That's it. Visit the badges section of your profile to see how many drops you have left per game.

And once you've earned all of the free cards for a game, you become eligible to randomly receive a booster pack for that game. And to remain eligible, you have to have logged into Steam at least once a week (or some timeframe like that). You needn't launch the game or have it installed anymore.

But if I don't log in for a week, and then log in and play the game, I get back the chance?

You don't have to play the game ever again to remain eligible. Just make sure you login to Steam at least once in that week.

As a whole, to remain eligible to receive booster packs, you must've logged into Steam in the past week. To be eligible to receive a booster pack for any individual game, you must've received all of your free cards for that game.
