I talked with another SG user lately about how people say, or don't say, "thank you" for the games they win. During this talk, I had an idea. My idea is simple:

When you win a giveaway, and after you've activated the game, you'll go and click the "Received" button. What if, when you click this button, a reply text box would appear, just like when you reply on the forums, where you could post whatever message you want to send to the giveaway creator, and it would automatically be posted as a comment on the giveaway you've won?

I don't really feel like this is an absolutely NEEDED feature. But I feel like it could be a nice touch if it's something that's not too difficult to implement. It's not a hassle to say thanks for the giveaway as it is now, but it would still make it easier. And some people could also have a tendency to forget, but now the option would always be presented.

Since this is all down to personal preference, I don't believe this is something that should be forced. We all have different viewpoints about what or why we should or shouldn't say thanks for. But if you did want to say thanks for the game, this could be an easy and convenient way to do so, when you click "Received".

Apologies in advance for no giveaways, I am but a poor welfare bum.

Do you think this is a good idea?

Don't care either way/It's fine as it is

I feel indifferent as I already message thanks to nearly all games I manage to win on this site so I already do it anyway. If it can be added, it will make life very slightly easier. If it isn't, then that's ok too.

Indeed. It would just be a minor quality of life feature.

i think its not really needed since it will not effect anything and most of the people already comment "thank you" message most of the time

Then some just automatically spam that button as they already spam certain giveaways while entering, then you will get a non meant thanks.

It's a reply text box in the suggestion, not a "send thank you-button"

TLDR :P

Still feels useless and not truely meant, someone can still just write oh well yeah thank you, just because it's there.

Some might even just say thanks after they win now, because they feel they have to, i mean how many truely say hey thank you so much for this amazing win, i had this game for ages on my whitelist etc etc or just simple ones like thank you.
And if you are also properly raised you should just do it out of yourselve, not because someone reminds you.

Its like most things in life Lugum, the easier something is to do, the more likely people are to do it even if it is just a simple thank you for winning. I personally, would prefer a simple thank you then nothing at all when people win one of my giveaways like it is in a lot of public giveaways.

I didn't want to write a comment because I really don't care:
if implied, it saves me one click on each win. It takes more time to sneeze, so technically doesn't change anything
if not, then also nothing changes :D
It's not useless, but I really don't feel it to be notably beneficial. One can just say thanks before activating the key (or write the comment and send if key works) and there we go.

As other stated below, it's not a thank you button, it's a rpely box, just as if you want to reply to my comment here.

What if there was just a thank you button next to every giveaway so noone would have to spam this :D

I mean so it would work like a poll, just showing the number of thank yous, not every message

I try and always say thanks (haven't won yet, but on the ones I enter), but it feels like a lot of people don't, so I would love a button like this as it would mean not having to type it and as you see, I inevitably ramble and spend too long on it!

I meant a thank you reply box for winning the game, not a thank you for the giveaway.

lol, nah, if someone cares at all and is civil enough to say thanks, they'll just leave a comment in the GA

I think it's stupid to make people give non-genuine thanks, then what's the point? thanks will lose it's meaning if it's not genuine, let me just judge them as the leechers without feelings they possibly are

Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my OP. It wouldn't be a "generic thank you". It'd basically be the same as you going to the giveaway, and leaving a comment saying thank you. It'd be the exact same thing, just possibly slightly more convenient.

I am against.

Why on earth make it easier to say thanks!?
That almoste suggest -at least to me- that saying thanks is difficult or something.
If you tend to forget to say thank you for something you've won, that says something about you.
If you need a reminder to say thanks, or an easy added feature, how sincere is your thanks then?

Please leave things as they are and have the commen sense/courtesy out of your own heart to say thanks and when possible make it a little personal!

This function is in the ESGST usersript. It's kinda handy.

If a person is ill-bred enough that it's hard for them to write a simple "thank you", then just let them be rude, I don't think any crutches are needed.
