You really miss something out there indeed :D It wasn't free as a giveaway, you could just activate on account from the steam store. You could not get gifts, or keys for the game at all.

you clearly didn't even read the rest of my post. . .i know it's been 'free' so to speak, for the past few days. you can't extract a key or a steam gift from it, so it technically shouldn't be removed. . .the free promotion is gonna end any day now? what then? i'm just supposed to hand my legit bought key to bots as a cannon fodder? or go to that broken ass IndieGala alter? yeah it makes no sense. maybe it was a mistake from the admins or they wanted to wait for a week so people that didn't syncd with steamgifts can't enter for the game giveaways in here and win them despite already owning the game and then create a new giveaway for it with the newly acquired key (if they won a key) once they're syncd

The game was given for free, yes, but the game goes directly into the person's steam library. The game cannot be given away.

example i make a GA for it during this time period with a bunch of shady slimey friends who all also do the same, we all enter eachothers private gibs.
we all get CV from it by hitting "receieved" while simply just getting the game for free from steam,
sgtools and others cant tell it was a gift copy without getting proof of purchase

This method is exploitable regardless. Everyone in this shady group of friends could buy the $1 tier of this week's Humble Bundle and do the same thing.

sorry but i don't really get it how it is an exploit... 1 person buys 5 1$ HBs and give it among his friends in the shady group - it costed 5$ to buy these games to get CV. 5 people buy 1$ HB 1 copy each for themselves to give this other person CV, but nonetheless it costed 5 real $ to get these games. How is this comparable to the situation while 5 people gets game for 0$ and person receives CV? Or 10 ppl, 20 ppl etc, since as game is 0$ there is no cost incorporated.

That's not what I'm saying, I'm talking about a group of 5 or more people all buying the $1 tier of a Humble Bundle, adding the games to their account, then each member can create a group or private giveaway for 5 or more copies of each game depending on how may people are involved, knowing the winner already owns the game and can just hit received.

Its still different. If they create 5 copies ga each they will have all 5 multiwins -very easilly noticeable and leading straight to permaban for missuse of GA feedback. Here we have a case of single win, of games got for free which can be done ovee and over with different accounts.

guess that settles it. and I'm sorry, didn't mean to make a fuss about it, was just baffled (might be an overstatement!) by the removal, but clearly the logic behind the move was sound. especially after what WarFerret pointed out as an exploitative method. in all honesty, my mind never even went there; and even then it seemed like a bit of stretch for my own taste. i guess some folks out there are prepped for anything.
needless to say, it should probably remain like this for at least some time (~ a week after the promo's off so auto sync can kick in).
