It can be considered as spam (as you're not offering anything useful if you offer the game while it's still free elsewhere), but also may be viewed as exploitation of a free promotion.
That is, the issue of exploitation isn't necessarily with any site-based benefit, but with the "stealing" of the game from others, by your acquiring a game you don't even want from a promotion. With Humble Bundle, quantities are infinite, so that issue (of quantity-limited promotion) doesn't exist- however, those who blacklist over such matters regularly may be too caught in their pattern to take notice of the distinction.

It also destabilizes economy of the website. Anyone can get the game for free, there is no reason to win it on SG during free promo, yet the flood of point such promo generates become impossible. Outlast GAs got disabled in slightly over hour since promo went live, still in these 1.5 hours there were over 4 pages of Archive GAs created and they generated over 90 points in this hour, if GAs were not disabled Outlast alone would generate hundreds if not over a thousand of points and noone would spend these points on Outlast they can get for free but rather on other stuff - so like I say, destabilising SG economy.

That's true even after a free game promotion ends- with free games being introduced to the site at a rate much higher than that of non-free games, and with most users presumably avoiding entry for such games, points have all but completely lost their meaning on this site since free games were introduced. From "those who are selective on what they enter being reliably at 300P", the site seems to have now progressed to "even those who aren't selective can reliably enter every other giveaway on SG if they don't enter ones for free games".
Whether the promotion is still running or not, the points are going to keep being put toward other giveaways by most users; similarly, CV-spam bundles (Gamemaker, Bundlestars $1 bundles) seem to be rising both in frequency and CV value [leading to more frequent spam of games that generate far more P than they consume]. Points have become a fairly meaningless concept- one which needs revamping (most intuitively, matching free games to their $0 CV value as far as their point generation and entry cost, and adding a graduated decline of generation for higher point value listings, thus making it so that spam of high value giveaways has less impact on the site), or- in acknowledgement of the site's seeming shift toward an 'enter anything you want' mentality- removal altogether.

yep, that's what me as well as many people were saying from the very start - it is great that free games can be given away on SG, a lot of great quality games in the past got banned forever simply because there was small promo with 1000 copies for example, or limited in other way (Dark Souls? Metro? these are great AAA games), and tghen people who missed promo cannot hope to win it on SG in the future. But disabling only Value for these GAs is not a great solution. Free games should have no affect on any stats or anything on SG whatsoever. They should not be generating points (reason we just discussed), they should not give GA slots (exploitable by trolls and really diminishes the whole meaning of building your GA slots over time), they should not give +1 to your Sent number on profile (easilly exploitable to fix your ratio to avoid BLs or to join SGT GAs) etc.

The thing is that there's no rules as to why a user might blacklist another user, is all up to the blacklister's point of view.
You see what you did as fair but some other poeple see it as unfair, as the system is set right now that's as good of a reason as anything else. Is just people using an option they were given, literally just clicking a button on their screens.
I personally don't really give much of a f*ck about what games someone gives and when, that's their problem not mine, but many do care and take action and I can't really tell them how to live their life it's their decision.

I've blacklisted only 3-4 people. For numerous violations. (multiple wins and not once) And I remember one man for saying "I don't want your ***** game! I just use bots. It is foolish to enter manually. Do reroll!")
I just see SG as a community of friendly people who want something to share. And for our part are trying to be treated favorably.

My suggestion to avoid a large portion of SG's drama is to stick to forum giveaways 90% of the time and if you do a public one make it at least level 1 or 2.
Being kinda fluent at english can also do wonders for the average SGer's daily experience, even if most won't admit it there is a tangible bias going on.

I have 101 blacklists. Reasons:
- greetings comments, ~22 bl
- thankful-comments, ~20 bl
- discussion which is insulting in opinion of bad/garbage "people" (not people who have not anything like money, house, etc.), ~26 blacklists
- discussion to the protection of those who once made a mistake. ~33 blacklists
As you can see big part of blacklists are for greetings- and thankful-comments (by other users not creators, I think). So, blow away thoughts about garbage-"people" and be happy you have some trash less in your life ;)

Whats wrong with invite only may I ask? I do a lot of invite only(well did when I was more active) to get people to participate more. I'd rather there was discussion and some interaction about gaming with the people I share stuff with.

Agree. I just started my first train as well, because most people nowadays seem to just have bots doing their work for them, possibly never giving stuff of their own. I wanted to give something to people who look on the Discussion page from time to time, which is why they also are for open for 1 week, so those who don't always get to be here can have the chance of entering.
To me, invite only is one of the best features. Reward those who do stuff and stop the bots. Nothing wrong with that, imo.

You can't see exactly who blacklisted you (unless you try to open one of their GAs) but it's really easy to check if a particular person blacklisted you, simply by trying to open one of their GAs.
And the recent changes to blacklists made it that blacklists automatically work both ways. So if somebody blacklists you they can't enter any of your GAs neither just as if you had also blacklisted them.

There's a script (ESGST - Enhanced SteamGifts & SteamTrades) that has an automatic Blacklist / Whitelist checker among many other things but it's honestly not worth the trouble worrying about Blacklists, specially now that they work both ways anyway ;)
But that script has many other cool functions beside the BL / WL checker in case you wanna check it out.

his ratio is not that bad tbh, if you consider actual CV of games it's over 0.5 (140$ Sent, 240$ Won), he simply win much cheaper games on avg compared to what he creates.
To put it into perspective - let's imagine a new user creates 3 GAs fro brand new AAA games let's say he gives away Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Nier: Automata and Far Cry 5. He wins 10 or 20 shovelware bundle games, each worth 1P, their combined CV being 3$. Do you call him a leecher or say he has bad ratio because he is on 3:20? Or should you also consider actual price, because considering it he will be sitting on 180:3. In other words while his numerical ratio will be 0.15 his Real Value Ratio will be 60.0 ;)

Sir, before blacklists were made automatically reciprocal, I only blacklisted those who blacklisted me out of fair play. When they made that change and I cleared my blacklist, I had over 100 people on my blacklist. A few of them are probably on this thread already.

Don't worry about it, there are countless giveaways from countless others so just go with it.
Fact of the matter is, some people are just dicks. They blacklist because of some obscure slight, real or imagined, or at a whim because they feel it gives them power or are just petty or any number of other reasons. Don't worry about it.

lotta people on here think their opinions matter, whenever i see a GA for a game thats being given freely i just pass it on by, i dont throw a fit, it doesnt raise my blood pressure, i dont need to know wtf is wrong with the person giving it away, etc etc. actually i believe now you can do GAs for games given freely (except not while they are being given away, maybe cause it cost points still >.>, not really a big deal imop) which is great, if someone wants to give out their free copy or 100 they managed to scoop up, great, thats 100 people who will win it and enjoy it. so long as it doesnt count toward their win\sent ratio it shouldnt matter

Under the new rules to giving away free games is not prohibited. Giveaways not rewarded any CV points,do not raise level,or something else selfish purpose.

Not so well as I check sites for discount,giveaways and draws. And in the end - I'm not forcing anyone to participate in my giveaways. Participate only those who need a game. (or Bots...)
