Not to bad. you have to make them a good terrarium especially if you live in colder countries like i do. they need about 20 - 25 degrees Celsius ( that means heating lamp or mat). 1 meal a day dry cat food switched up with live bugs every two or three days. a bowl of clean water. some toys to play with my loves ruining on her ruining disc. And some time spend with her daily so she can be happy ( But that depends on the hedgehog some love contact others prefer to be left alone you have to ask the breeder about the character of the hedgy you want to take in)

Yes but you have to do everything to avoid them going in to hibernation. African pigmey hedgehogs don't have the instincts to gather fat for hibernation. So if they fall in to it they die of starvation/dehydration. That's why you have to keep them in temperature 20-25 degrees Celsius inside of a terrarium or have a really warm house.
