Can't you use a coupon when the game is in a sale? I didn't know that. I thought that the discount was applied to the base price in that case.

Only on a very few occasions, coupons may be stacked with a sale. However, the majority of the time, coupons cannot be applied on games that are already on sale.
I assume that since the coupon is not stackable, it disables the coupon from functioning while there is a sale. Quite a silly flaw on Valve's behalf.

Well many people would end up kinda "abusing" this feature. 90% coupon on lets say 75% discount, is quite a lot imho

I absolutely agree on that. A easy solve to this problem would be to wait for the sale to end and get it then, but then there is the expiration date. Well it's one more flaw in Valve's system

Yeah, it's retarded. I'm surprised they never fixed that. I had the same problem once (like a year or two ago) and the coupon was set to expire before the end of the sale. I ended up making a support ticket for it since it was a special promo from the developer/publisher.
Assuming they never fixed the issue, one could wait until the sale ends -- if the coupon doesn't expire by then of course.

i do the same thing lol. I use coupons when the game is on sale. it just changes the 75% to 90%. if the coupon is 50% it wont do anything though.

No you don't.. there's no Coupon replacing a sale discount.. in the rare few cases where a Coupon can work during a sale it discounts the leftover pricing, doesn't replace the other discount like you say. So a 50% Coupon applied to a 75% sale would make the discount 87-88%.

Well check your facts because either you only used a few coupons in your life and was super lucky that they were the stackable kind.. either you're simply talking bs. It's mentioned on the coupons if they can be used with a sale and only a rare few of them actually can. To be able to use the combination you need to be timed with a sale and have access to a coupon at that time.
So to say "I always use coupons when the game is in sale"... puts you in a corner you won't get out of easily.

Me, I'm dropping coupons for Battle vs Chess that I can't even purchase because it doesn't exist in the NA store. (Here in NA it's called Check vs Mate and have a different ID so the coupon simply can't be used.)
