Prince of Persia (the original) was mad fun, I had good times with it. So did with populous 2 (and spent way too much time on populous the beginning). I enjoyed Kohan and Morrowind a lot. Theres too many to list, I made a list of the games that had the most impact on my life on raptr, click here.

Playing Smash Tennis on the SNES without really knowing how tennis was played, always making it past the early opponents but losing when you started to face any decent opposition. Trying to knock a spectator down a mountain repeatedly, my dad buying it from the local video game store after renting it a lot then the cartridge getting corrupted, left me a bit sad.

wow nice idea! never heard about Head over Heels but it's understandable, I'm not from UK or even Europe :P plus there's a chance it's from a different time in which I either didn't exist or was already over playing games .......... bullshit! real gamers NEVER EVER stop playing games! :D :D
Now, my first console was a coleco vision, you can imagine an old phone with the numeric pad and a anolog stick right above it, 2 pushable buttons (d'oh) at its sides, and ofc, cartridges to play! it was full color and I had one of martians and a space ship, a donkey kong one with mario climbing stairs and jumping flaming barells so he can save the stupid princess that loved (still does I think :P) getting herself kidnapped! Think my dad traded that console for something else, plus I don't remember what was the 3rd cartridge..
I still have the second and third console, a family game like we call it here, and a sega, still, cartridges, fully working, mortal kombat 1-3-ultimate, spiderman, sunset riders, the punisher, robocop vs terminator, among others, thats for the sega. The family one had those 1000-in-1 type of cartridges, it wasn't really 1000 since you had like 15-to-20 and then clones haha, pretty fun still. it came with the pistol for duck hunt and others. Battletoads and DoubleDragon was mostly what I played the most, chip n dale too, and others.
It was a fun childhood, when I got to play, that is..
Remember those times when you were playing and the thing would just freeze? oh yeah, sometimes it didn't saved, you pop the cart, blow it tho it now some people say it can damage the carts chip since you're blowing spit saliva and crap all over a circuit, plus it wasn't really dirt or dust huh? idk, most times it just worked fine! till it got hot, sigh good old days! :D
I'm gonna close this comment with this: I attempted way too many times to finish Golden Axe III (I think it was) and always lose near the end, the crystal caves or little ahead. I was always playing alone so it was sorta of a challenge to beat all that over there alone. Then eventually finish it with flying colors in PC era, either with MAME or emulating it which is kinda similar.
That collection must still be around in a folder somewhere or even burnt in a DVD.

The one game I remember playing a lot (and I do mean A LOT) in the older days was Rock n Roll Racing... it was the first time racing game was so much fun, at least for me. I heard it got a remake that was on Steam for a while but no longer available. :/

So last time I posted a discussion people voted for trains without crap puzzles. But it felt boring to just say 'here are the games' and I felt there should be some sort of a theme. And then I had to go to my moms house and recover some of my childhood crap from the loft because of insulating work. And it inspired me to add a discussion about video game nostalgia.
This game that I found is an absolute classic that deserves to be remembered. It's called 'Head over Heels' and is an isometric puzzle platformer. The player controls two dog-like creatures with unique abilities. Head can jump and glide and can acquire a weapon that shoots doughnuts and paralyses enemies. Heels can run quickly and can acquire a bag that lets him pick up and carry objects. The two characters can also combine into a single entity. The game features several hundred interlinked puzzle rooms featuring moving platforms, lava floors, enemies, pressure plates and diverse traps, triggers, projectiles, etc. Many of the puzzles required significant lateral thinking.
In hindsight many of the games puzzles were surprisingly similar to those found in Portal, but the game had an added level of complexity in that the puzzle rooms were non-linear (quite aside from the fact that in control of two characters you were basically playing Portal co-operative testing by yourself). Some rooms could only be negotiated by Head or Heels individually while other rooms required them to work together, so working out the routes and paths that allowed them to come together at the right times was an ordeal in itself. Plus, despite its complexity, this was still a hardcore 8-bit platformer with no saves and three lives. It was an obsession for many UK gamers for some time...
