i'm pretty sure the orange box. then i think star wars knights of the old republic was the first i bought through steam. i shouldn't have bought it though since i'd already played it on xbox...

1st: HL2 + CS:S
and i believe the second one was Skyrim, which also really brought me to steam...
currently clocking in at about 150 games (er..? wow, never thought about it, and so many left unplayed!)

Mine was Battlfield 4.

Free Portal, then Assassin's Creed II.

The first game(s) was the potato sack. Then, I proceeded to get the golden potato, and got the entire VCP for free.

It was a good way to start using Steam.

Team Fortress 2, though by the time I got onto Steam it was due to peer pressure because it just went free-2-play. I've only been on Steam for a year, don't judge. :p

Well, the first one I /purchased/ was Counter-Strike: Source, but even though I bought that one, I couldn't play it on the comp I had at the moment. Go figure.

The first Steam game I /actually/ played was Recettear.
