Ive recently got stuck with a virus called CloudScout which is putting hyperlinks all over Steam. I've tried my best to get rid of it, but nothing has worked. It seems to ONLY be on Steam as it doesnt do anything on my browser (Firefox) or Origin. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?
PC SPECS:
OS: Windows 8.1
Software Mainly Effected: Steam
I have a couple of options below.
Also programs I've used: Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro, AdwCleaner, and CCleaner

What should I do?

View Results
Buy Premium SpyHunter 4 ($39.99)
Backup My HDD to a External One ($100-$300)
Burn it With Fire ($1.00)

I hate to ask the obvious....but have you googled how to remove it?

Also, do you have a restore point or backup from before the virus that you could revert to?

Tbh I don't know how to get rid of malwares but I own BitDefender and its good enough, reinstalling windows is probably the best bet but you'd have to download all the windows again.

SpyHunter4 would probably get rid of it but idk tbh, burning it with fire is the worst option though js

I just went on google looking for a way to delete this CloudScout, well from what i've found, it's one tough mother ducking adware, good luck dude ! not helping a lot but this is the first result i found http://malwaretips.com/blogs/ads-by-cloudscout-removal/
and in worst case scenario, just erase everything and reinstall windows, get an anti virus as soon as you reinstall windows, and don't install weird stuff on your computer !

I don't know how CloudScout works, but some of the more insidious malware replaces program entries in your registry so that even after you clean things up then next time you try to open a given file extension it will execute something that pops it right back in, and then still opens the file you requested so that you don't know that it was rerouted.

I wish you best of luck. I haven't had to clean up anything recently enough to know how to deal with it, and my kids are more careful now because I just wipe the machine if they get nasty malware or a virus.

you can do a Restore Point to a time when you didn't have the virus. if you don't want to have a anti-virus

worst case: you lose some recent installed programs and stays with the virus

I like Mbam, since it's pretty thorough and best of all free. MalwareBytes Anti-Malware is probably my one go to for post-infection cleans, since it's one of the greatest cleaning tools in terms of performance footprint and very effective, with chameleon modes for the nastiest stuff. If it doesn't work, it's probably because the database isn't updated yet.

Try this guide.

if all else fails overwrite your hard drive then wipe it, then use old backup of your hard drive or reinstall windows

that useless, he will put the virus back, he should have a backup before he had a virus, now it's to late to do a back up

One thing with viruses; I'm good at getting rid of them, but terrible at telling someone how to.
Mainly involves lots of Googling, searching, and locating. Once you find a "clue" about there whereabouts of the virus on your computer, it's fairly easy to get rid of it.

Of course, I only removed small viruses and PUPs from relative's computers so far, nothing extremely big... :P

It sounds like infected a file in your steam application somehow. Maybe try uninstalling steam and then reinstalling? I had a virus which was putting loads of adware on my computer, and tried for weeks to get rid of it, but then yesterday I uninstalled Chrome and it worked.

Backup your important stuff and fresh install the whole os. also change password after fresh install of email / steam to make sure someone didn't hack your system and got your passwords.

Just wondering, how did you get the virus? This is to prevent more people from getting it.
