You guys ever had problems with baggage allowance or flights in general?

2-3 days ago, I packed up all my stuffs for going home and the cases looked organized and clean. Then, the day after that, I weighed them and they turned out to be overweight according to the airline I'm going to use this weekend...

After so many hours, I ended up giving up because I seriously cannot get more thing out and they still are overweight (less than they used to, now they are only like 2-3 pounds above the free baggage allowance. I seriously am thinking abt throwing in couples of hundreds bucks so I can have one extra baggage.

That's the only part I don't like abt flying, getting stuffs from one place to another never felt this dreadful to me...I want a portal gun to be invented ASAP! or an instantaneous teleporter...seriously guys, how likely it is for us to have one of those in the future? 50% or less?

edit forgot to mention this but I'll be travelling oversea so the fee/cost of shipping stuffs would be is more than bringing them with me :"(

oh, here's a giveaway

Aww, that really sucks. :( Are you going to be returning to the place you're leaving? It'd be easier to just leave non-essentials and take only the basics.

no, but I will come back to somewhere close to it. I already have most of my stuffs stored at my friend's place but I bought so many stuffs for my folks and my sis that I could not bear leaving anything behind =(

I've trained myself to fit everything I need into a bag that can be carried on as hand luggage. Travelling for a few days or a month I can use the same bag. Sometimes difficult, but worth it.

Try wearing your heaviest clothes, throw out some things that you can buy or already have where you're going (shampoo etc.), and use a bag rather than a hard case.

the place where I go is extremely hot and I was wearing clothes so thick last year that I cannot stop sweating in the airport which made me look awfully suspicious

Sadly I can't help. Never flown before. My dumb idea is to see if you can find a big enough flat-rate box and mail your extra stuff to yourself. If it fits, it ships, regardless of weight ;D

Actually, I think there was a weight restriction listed in the fine print. Darn advertising.

Didn't happen to me since i was lucky to find out i need to have 20 kg on a baggage and not 40 as i thought. I saw a woman that had this problem and they make her trow some stuff.

My teacher back at highschool told us that he used to travel a lot. And instead of taking luggage, what he does is he ships everything through mail and believe it or not it saves a lot of money.

Dont pay hundreds to bring another bag. It would be FAR cheaper to just leave a bunch of clothes out, and buy some at the other end of your journey.

Sometimes it's cheaper to check in an additional bag instead of having one extra heavy bag. Just a smaller duffle bag or something like that could do it, no?

no can do, it can be either a cardboard box or a proper baggage. Duffle bag maybe allowed in domestic flights but not many international airlines allow it.
