I unsubscribed to almost every email list I was on this time last year because of the spam. I have to say I'm happier for it. I'm not a very good retail consumer, so now I just don't see the deals I wouldn't buy anyways.

As a CS, your consideration is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, the people who cause the biggest trouble are those who are simply assholes and don't care. ;_;
I think the worse part is not being allowed to help people. Fucking formalities, rules, policies, engagement guidelines, etc... it's bullshit. And then when we keep repeating the same thing over and over again, they tell us not to be "robotic"... and then you try to be more creative and they pull back on your leach and tell you not to do this or that.
...I fucking hate my job. :D

I absolutely agree, although I wouldn't narrow this down to Black Friday or customer support. Politeness sadly seems to become a virtue of the past. I notice it nearly every single time I have to interact with people.

Complaining to a friend how my inbox is already spammed with "black Friday" deals... can't delete them fast enough... and he's like, "what do you think how I feel, and don't forget cyber Monday". He works in customer support for one large international retail store. Phone division...
Anyway, just wanted to remind people that weird things can happen, you have every right to complain, but remember that people who work in support are just regular human beings stuck at work during holidays and trying to help, but they have to follow the script because there's someone above them, so be patient and polite even if you are really mad at the company itself.
