And I kept meaning to throw up some giveaways to celebrate. So... here:
Garhasp The Monster Slayer (x5) ($0.01 CV)
Mafia II ($31.00 CV)
Spec Ops: The Line ($31.00 CV)

Out of curiosity how many of your own a home, how many rent, and how many get free room and board either from parents / relatives / school / whatever?

P.S. The best part of owning your own place is that pants are optional 100% of the time

I travel a lot so there is no point in having a home for me, i just rent places where i go.

I do use my mother's place as a bit of a warehouse for some of my stuff thought, sending some stuff there until one day i stop travelling around the world.

Pants are still optional.

Anyone else here think that owning an apartment would be financially better unless you had a family? I mean, houses cost a lot.

Assuming OP has a family, of course.

I don't have a family, but I'm currently paying less on my principle + interest payment than I did for rent by about $25. There's other stuff (home insurance vs. renters insurance, home warranty, utilities), but it honestly isn't that much more than just renting when you put it all together. Plus this way I build equity, instead of just flushing my money down the toilet on rent. Loans are cheap as hell right now, and I managed to save a nice chunk of cash to put down, which helps a LOT.

Huh, well I just assumed houses would be more expensive in the long-run. I mean, around my area houses seem to be going for a couple hundred thousand dollars. Well, in the city areas. I live in a country-ish area outside of a city.

Well they are, but you get 30 years to pay it off. So it breaks down to not too bad of a monthly payment

I've been living on my own house with my girlfriend for 6 years until we broke up last January, just moved back to my parents house 2 months ago because i'm currently unemployed due to health problems, had to rent my house so it pay itself :(

Living alone is the best.
