They call it "+1", because not every game is giving +1 to the games count in Your library. And for some people it does matter that You get new game. For example, I think games that are not available anymore are not counting towards game counter on Your profile.

Are you sure this is giving card drops? I'm not getting a notification of any drops when adding to my account via Steam... and usually they disable those for free-to-play and free giveaways, so...

Hmm... I removed the free Steam version, and added the Green Man Gaming version to my account... and it's still not giving me cards. Odd.

Card drops are on DLCs now. I think one for each of DLC (including the free one, Arcadia Bay Patches). 5 drops in total. (so those who already bought the game and idled, get 2 extra drops).

Some people are already posting giveaways with the greenmangaming keys. Is that allowed? For a game episode which is already free in Steam... that seems sketchy, at least.

That's correct. Even if it doesn't get done till tomorrow or the next day it will give 0 CV from when the GMG giveaway started. So any giveaways created today for Episode 1 will be worth 0 CV.
And yeah it does seem weird that these things would happen at the same time.
