Opinions?
Imo all gaming related websites shouldn't be places for such discussion.
Comment has been collapsed.
Because obviously gamers do not engage in these subjects at all right?
Don't get me wrong, I get the whole "Lets avoid a contentious subject." angle.
But at the same time if we can't even talk like civilized human beings among our peers - how will we ever manage among people who don't share our interests...
Many gamers do suffer from racially, sexually or otherwise driven discrimination.
And it doesn't hurt to get some knowledge and through that knowledge understanding of others.

There are gay illusions? (mirages)
On a serious note though, it's great and all, but i'm with Proximus on this one, dunno if steamgifts is a place for these discussions.

My thoughts exactly, what has the French Air Force got to do with anything?

Wait until they have a ton more couples to do research on, haha

That's a good point and it did cross my mind before. But since gay people are more open minded and communicate better in relationship I think the percentages wont change too much, that is gay couples will probably continue having more stable happier relationships then straight couples.

+1. Like, cool, sure. Yay for gays? Dunno. It's something that should have been legal in the first place so.
Comment has been collapsed.
Saying that sort of diminishes the struggle that they went through, just as other marginalized groups of people have to struggle to be recognized as being equal under the law. As persecuted groups of people are still seen as the "other" in society.

Yeah, I kinda worded it short n simple so I guess you're right xD I just don't understand why people have always considered other humans with different interests (or religion, ancestry, etc.) completely different, as if they were another species.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well I made a thread about it that is certainly home to a lot of....disparate viewpoints. I reckon a lot of people aren't posting in it because they'd just as soon not get involved, though.

Oh yeah, I can see that.. I dunno, I just wish people weren't so judgmental about everything. But I don't think that will ever happen :p Nothing I can say or do to help them, so I just don't say anything to them xD

Someday you and Mr Wiggles T Kitteh will be legal too.

It's just called marriage. Now it has only become more inclusive, I'm glad for all those couples who had to emigrate before to get just a status on a piece of paper.

I didn't thought about that! It's true, racism was quite strong in our western societies. About mixing religious I haven't read too much on the topic to actually know how shocking it was in the past though.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think it has dissapeared at all. But it's not as strong as it was before with the "coloured seggregation" in the US o the south african apartheid, I mean nowadays that's unthinkable and inhumane, and it isn't even THAT far away, I'm glad that such government levels of repression are slowly going away.
You might argue that in Eastern societies you still see floroushing racism in some societies, just look at the MIddle East, India, Nepal... oh well, let's just hope someday people will learn to tolerate and live in harmony with each other's differences. Let's hope...
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh I would strongly agree with that; racist and anti-ethnic pro-nationalist zealots are everywhere. It is certainly not a problem just in the west (even using terms like West and East is a form of Orientalism, which is itself a form of Eurocentrism:))

Not sure if serious or serious troll. Many other species in the natural world have homosexual tendencies. You are welcome to believe in whatever sky fairy and magic book you want, but it doesnt make your opinion correct or your "facts" any less wrong.

my opinion is as correct is your opinion or a gay's opinion or anyone else's opinion.
I am not trolling. As soon as some want to discuss it, i will say my opinion.
In the natural world, in the primate species there are no homosexual tendencies and that is widely known.

Just a 5 sec google search proved you wrong already.
You are welcome to dislike it, but saying that being gay is dishonorable or "against the history and meaning of humanity" shows that you know nothing of your own origins and your own history. You also are forcing your own ideology on others and trying to define what it means to be human. Humanity has a VERY long history of homosexuality since the early dawn of our ancestors up to the present day. Across cultures, age groups, and even religions. Simply plugging your ears and closing your eyes can and will never change that.
Comment has been collapsed.
Tell me one culture that doesn't have homosexuality, past or present. The fact that you quantified your request with, "decent" makes it an request doomed to failure. I can run down a list of 1000 different time periods and cultures and religions backgrounds and you would say, "well clearly they are not decent, since any "x" that supports gays is not decent".
I would normally say that Im sorry your are so butt hurt about people gaining their rightful rights, but in this instance, you clearly care about your own ideology above all else. If you live in the US, I would suggest you move to one of the ISIS supported territories.
Comment has been collapsed.
What don't you understand from the word "supported"? I didn't ask if any decent culture has or had homosexuality, i asked if they supported it. The question is more than clear.
And please, do show me 1 decent religion (i repeat, just 1 decent religion) which supports homosexuality or has it in its backround.
So, whoever is against gays is similar to the fcking terrorists? How long did it take you to consider that point? Have you ever even been abroad of your country to find out how people around the world thing or you consider your state of view unmistaken while you blame my statements?
Comment has been collapsed.
I just wanted to add at this point that the word "decent" is very subjective. For example I do not believe it is possible to find a decent religion, so that's out of the window. I guess we can also argue that there was never a decent human civilization - humans are, and always were a bunch of bastards. Also, aren't there more then two sexes? Also, you seem to talk about "unethical and dishonorable ideas against the history and meaning of humanity" whatever that means. It seems that the only "agenda" gay people may have is the right to have relationships with whoever they want. That seems hardly unethical or dishonorable. But again, codes of ethics can differ from person to person. And they are all made up.
Nothing is objectively good or bad. Things just are. Some things hurt people. Gay people being able to marry does not hurt anyone, so I suggest we let them do it. It seems that you have a very strong opinion on how the world should look like and want other people to follow your rules. I don't think the world should actually work that way, do you? Everyone following the same arbitrary standards made up by one person does not seem good.
I mean seriously, life is bad as it is. How about we just let people do what they want if it doesn't hurt us?
Comment has been collapsed.
People being happy around you can't hurt you or your children by simply being happy or being gay. Unless they steal from you or murder you, or something. But that has nothing to do with them being happy or gay.
And again, things are decent only because YOU think they are decent. For example I don't believe there are decent religions (well maybe except Pastafarianism) because all of them focus on misinforming people, yet followers of those religions think otherwise.
Another example: somewhere before this ISIS was brought up. People who believe in ISIS's ideals think those are decent and do everything to enforce them on others. Others think that ideals of the US are decent and will enforce those. Those visions seem to contradict each other, and yet they will all be called decent by some (it just depends who you ask).
Nothing is objectively decent. You can always find someone who thinks that what you believe is wrong. So the only logical thing seems to stick to what you want to believe and let others believe in their thing, unless they try to impose something on you or others.
What I'm trying to convey, is that people have varying opinions on what is decent, so you can't use that as an argument. I mean some people think Nazi ideology is decent. Term "decent" is too subjective and vague.
Comment has been collapsed.
I like how you pick apart what people write to have an excuse not to answer them so you don't have to counter their arguments. Someone said something about Wikipedia, so you refuse to talk about what they said (even though there are sources listed on the wiki).
I said the word Pastafarianism and you refuse to address my points. I think all religions are a joke, so a joke religion is the only fair one for me (because no one pretends it is not ridiculous). Seems like a fair view, no? I was basically reinforcing my point that all religions are a joke. And yet you just focus on the little things so you don't have to face our arguments. You constantly ask for proof, but you don't want to hear what we have to say. Your mind is made up. Why do you talk about your beliefs if you don't want to discuss them, but you just want other people to acknowledge what you are saying? You don't want to challenge your beliefs at all. If you think we are spewing nonsense you should discuss this with us instead of being condescending, you know?
It seems that you are just asking everyone else for proof, and not willing to talk about the issue yourself.

Cultures supporting homosexuality: The Roman Empire or Ancient Greece are good starting points.
Religion supporting/accepting homosexuality: Traditional Buddhism, most schools as of today. Sufi Islam doesn't make any distinction, as sexuality in general is something to overcome.
I don't agree with you however I applaud your belief in something deemed unpopular. We need polarity in our society to sustain change. After all LGBT activists were just like you one day, hated/judged and shunned by the norm.

Ancient Greeks (they even had those meetings - Symposium - where young boys were servicing older men, both in non- and sexual ways).
Ancient Romans had their strange views about that too - like proper guy will "have fun" with other males, but only a weak male will be a receiver. So, it was quite normal for guys to "use" their slaves, to show who is a dominant one.

I don't see any reason why they shouldn't have been allowed to be as unhappy as the rest of us! Here in Canada we've had it right across the country for 10 years now and you don't see chaos breaking out here, society is just as crappy as ever/, cats and dogs are not trying to live together.
Damnit... the bird is trying to hump the dog again.... stupid budgie....
I SAID CATS AND DOGS!!! I said nothing about birds and dogs trying to live together!

Its a big thing in the US. Unlike smaller countries whos populations have a more linear change, the US goes in waves as the older folks leave and new blood enters the ranks. However, instead of matching the pace with the rest of the world, there is often a delay in huge swaths of the country do to size and separation. Ideologies of hate are passed to children and those children pass it down to them without ever having a chance to be interrupted by being shown a new point of view. Many of our voting block are still huge bags of hate. If given everything they wanted, they would be a very close copy of ISIS. The same waves have happened in the past and will continue to happen.

Yep, any day now, Obama is going to take their guns and bibles away. I mean, the guy has had 6 years now, but no, any day now. Hate the guy for passing a stupid law, or not passing a law, but because of where you are from? So stupid, and frankly, a waste of energy and time.

I remembered seeing them on a nature special about ants (I love crap like that). The two that always stuck with me were the jack jumpers, which are venomous and aggressive little bastards (even to other jack jumpers) and the siafu, which are an African ant that migrates through the jungles in colonies numbering in the millions. Its so many ants, that it looks like little streams.

HMM... Death picked up a book at random and read the cover. "DANGEROUS MAMMALS, REPTILES, AMPHIBIANS, BIRDS, FISH, JELLYFISH, INSECTS, SPIDERS, CRUSTACEANS, GRASSES, TREES, MOSSES, AND LICHENS OF TERROR INCOGNITA, " he read. His gaze moved down the spine. VOLUME 29C, he added. OH. PART THREE, I SEE.
He glanced up at the listening shelves. POSSIBLY IT WOULD BE SIMPLER IF I ASKED FOR A LIST OF THE HARMLESS CREATURES OF THE AFORESAID CONTINENT?
They waited.
IT WOULD APPEAR THAT-
"No, wait master. Here it comes."
Albert pointed to something white zigzagging lazily through the air. Finally Death reached up an caught the single sheet of paper.
He read it carefully and then turned it over briefly just in case anything was written on the other side.
"May I?" said Albert. Death handed him the paper.
"'Some of the sheep, '" Albert read aloud. "Oh, well. Maybe a week at the seaside'd be better, then."

The U.S. has always progressed in fits and starts. Its just a unique combination of factors: large population spread across a large landmass, from a wide range of cultures. While ideas can spread quickly in large population centers, the large geographical areas have a natural tendency for cultural isolationism. The end result is that some people have to be dragged into modern times, kicking and screaming.
