Thanks. No free sales cards yet through other badges.

I think they mean 'dropping' when you make a badge: they're getting a card instead of a coupon for each badge level, (those card drops usually starts a week before the sale starts. Then, when the sale starts, you get card drops for discovery queue, etc. (probably voting for the Steam Awards vs a mini game for this sale)).
Comment has been collapsed.
They don't drop through the discovery queue yet and I can't seem to find any mini game anywhere. For now it seems they only drop through crafting badges.

For appropriate context, it's normal for Steam to release the cards for crafting a bit before the associated seasonal event goes live, thus creating this sort of pre-event event. ^.^
(Cards market at higher value the faster you post them up, so that's a likely impetus for crafting early.)

Hey thank you, Miss, I might do just that!
If you still want to complete sets, you can always check my 1:1 thread. If you feel less lazy, that is? ;)

Aha, every time I think I'll get all these stupid cards organised in advance, and every time it's too much of a pain so it never happens... :(
Haven't used stm enough, but apparently it's working now so that's good. :) Any chance to (temporarily) reduce some of the useless crap in my inventory is welcome... :)
Comment has been collapsed.
In case you haven't tried it already, I can generally find a few more matches with https://www.steamcardexchange.net/ - but I rarely remember to use it. :(
During the big sales there's a long delay as everyone else is remembering it too, but the rest of the year it's quite fast. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, I never was a week early, but I remember the cards being in the 10-12 €-cent range early, as well. By the end of sale it was around 3-4 cents, usually.
Comment has been collapsed.
The price goes downhill pretty quick, the more cards are in circulation the less you can expect. 4 Euro cents last summer sale, which gives you 2 cents a card after commission.

It's not necessarily because of greenlight, but partially too, as the reason is a combination of cheap crap asset-flips with cards flooding the market, and the ease of farming with ASF. Previously you had to commit something to craft the badges, so the cards available early were worth much more as they were simply harder to obtain. When Valve made cards easily obtainable through discovery queue, other mini-games/voting, and badges craftable with absolute trash of 20+ sets for a single CS:GO key, entire potential value dropped so low it's simply not worth the listing effort anymore. It's still better than receiving a worthless coupon, but it's nowhere close to what it used to be.
Now that I think of it, level-up bots added a significant bit to all of that as well, since if they offer such crazy things as 10 sets per $2, then by definition the prices will stick close to $0.20 per set. They won't reach the very bottom, as there are still a lot of lazy unaware people that will buy off the market regardless, but it'll slowly drag down until it balances itself, basics of economy.

really wish there was a place I could swap a game for a bunch of cards without so much hassle - still have that overwatch game from the october monthly and no wish to create a battlenet account, or use the 3 or 4 loot boxes - but the stress of some of the web sites puts me off so it looks like I will be restricted to my existing cards this year :OP
anyone remember if archibot still does dupe trades or has a link to it?
Comment has been collapsed.
https://www.steamtradematcher.com/compare
Doesn't seem like I can grab a specific link for the bot, but it's amongst the quite few trading bots :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Check https://asf.justarchi.net/STM - it's a bunch of same-set 1:1 automated ASF trading thingamabobs. For each bot there are links to use "STM" automatically i.e. https://www.steamtradematcher.com/ or you can manually poke through each one's inventories and make offers...
Comment has been collapsed.
ASF STM listing already mentioned above is excellent way to match the dupes, either manually or semi-automatically (through STM). The top notch latest technology is using ASF's MatchActively which trades the dupes fully automatically and actively, without depending on STM being up or not. My lazyness eventually reached critical level at which even STM + userscript is too much, so ASF took over :3.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ahh, so it's kinda like STM, but completely automated? That sounds good... Oh, it knows cards with a trade hold still work for crafting badges? That's better, STM should learn it... :)
Hmm, curious about one potential problem that I've experienced with STM in the past, though: STM had incorrect information about certain specific badges, i.e. actual wrong data not due to any of your cards being newly purchased. Perhaps a scraping error or random Steam screwup, i.e. when checking a badge like https://steamcommunity.com/my/gamecards/454330/ Steam would (very rarely) show 7 cards required to make that badge, not 8.
Whatever the reason, for those specific badges STM would suggest trading away cards you needed for some specific card you already owned. And if you weren't paying attention, STM would keep suggesting those trades until you had no duplicates of any other card in that set... :(
Just wondering if you've ever seen that happen using STM, and if you think there's any danger of your feature being hit by a similar problem. An automated STM that actually works would be a huge time saver, but perhaps not if it's susceptible to that specific bug. :)
Thank you!

Didn't that problem got fixed already.

Thank you, I don't know if it's fixed but that would be good news. :)
Now that you mention it, I don't remember seeing that bug recently, but I still check every badge before sending STM trade offers, out of habit... Maybe it's a huge waste of time, but once bitten...

ASF's code strikes for perfection, it can do matching without even knowing how many cards are included in the set and what the set is even composed of. Mathematical process is flawless by definition, whether my code is - right now I believe so, but code is never flawless, there are always bugs to be found and fixed, and every ASF user uses ASF at his own risk, as stated in the license and the wiki.
So no, your issue where the set has more cards than announced definitely would not happen because ASF doesn't even depend on that info to begin with. Whether matching actually works - it works for me and for hundreds of users using this feature right now, there is a good chance it'll work for you too, and if by any chance it won't, there is another good chance that archi guy will reproduce your bug and fix it. Whether that is enough for you or not you should decide yourself, I'm only sharing stuff that I use myself, whether I actually coded it or not is a secondary factor for me.

Hello again, I tried the "MatchActively" thing with my removed games trading card trash pile and it seemed to work, so that's good news. :) Pointless, but at least I didn't risk losing anything important from configuration errors... :) Thank you! :)
One more question, do you know if anyone has tried using this feature with their duplicate smileys or backgrounds, or umm, those "Salien" things? I assume it would be dumb, since often there is one $$$ item and the rest of the set worthless, but it might be useful if I manually weeded out any good stuff... Just curious... :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Ahh, I guess ignoring rarity wouldn't work, oh well... It was worth a shot... :)
I suppose automated trading of backgrounds and smileys without throwing money away would also require checking prices on the market, which would be a completely different tool. And I seem to remember market-accessing bots are against Steam's TOS anyway, so I'll let someone else gamble with that one... :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Hello, hope you're not sick of these yet... :)
Just tried the MatchActively thing "for real" and already got a few trades I'd been unable to find for months. Ok, I wasn't hitting STM and steamcardexchange every day but still... And I didn't even have to do anything! Presumably it will automatically accept any fair trades random people send too, which is just gravy...
Even if it never finds another trade, it's already been worth the trouble. :) This thing is a badge junkie's dream! :) Handling purchased cards correctly, foil sale cards, etc. So much time I can stop wasting... :) Thank you! :)
p.s. Is there any way to see information like https://www.steamtradematcher.com/tools/fullsets shows (when it's working...) i.e. "there are X potential full sets hiding in your inventory." Or maybe something like "there are Y potential trades to be made total." Sorry, guess I am too lazy to read the code, and I probably don't speak the language anyway... :)
Comment has been collapsed.
That's impossible for ASF to tell you since it doesn't know itself how many sets you have. It'd be possible with extra requests and overhead, but it's suboptimal for idling program to include that. STM seems to work decent enough with this, and there is probably at least one userscript that calculates it on user side already. Still, wouldn't be hard to add such feature, except in this case I'm not interested in coding it myself.
<redacted>
Comment has been collapsed.
There's wouldn't really be any point to it, and I can always check https://www.steamtradematcher.com/tools/fullsets anyway, just thought it might be interesting to see some statistics or numbers or whatever... :)
I suppose if someone were aiming for a specific level it might help them avoid wasting money, but people making badges are wasting money by definition... :)
Well, I'm cheap so will probably wait until the Steam sale begins... :) Assuming I remember... :)
And you know the trouble with wishlists, you never know if it's a "really want to play this right now!!1!!!!" or a "don't forget this thing exists, but wait until it's at least 75% off" ... :)
I saw some Touhou things in there, but hmm... I think those are doujin games, and not the umm, "real" stuff like https://store.steampowered.com/app/745880/__Hidden_Star_in_Four_Seasons/ or whatever isn't even on Steam... :) Oh well... :)

Please, don't ask users for donations. It's against the rules
That's why I will ask you to remove part about donations from your post.
Do not ask users for payments or donations for any reason. Fees to gain access to gifting groups, or attempts to raise money for lotteries or giveaways is not allowed.
Comment has been collapsed.
You did ask for card donations for your bot. And asking for games from wishlist can be considered to be begging.
No matter if you do it directly or indirectly. "Hey, please give cards to my bot" is the same as "Hey, if by any chance, you want to donate cards to my bot you're welcome to do so".
If you wanted to write about donations to certain user, you could write to them over Steam Chat, if you have them on friend list. SteamGifts forum is no-donation, no-begging-for-games place. Users are suspended after asking for those, and threads that ask for payments or games are closed.
You can have link to donation page on your bot github page, and ask about it there. But not in the forums.

well, after reading the github stuff and attempting to alter my original json files to make stramtradematcher true instead of false I am still no nearer to understanding how to do this with ASF LOL - so I think I may have to go back to manual matching for now - in the absence of anything I can see on that page to tell me if I am changing the right thing, I could not actually see where MatchActively was supposed to be input to :P and I did not want to risk messing up ASF anymore than I did already - giggle :oP
still love ASF though - with the number of games I have, I would not have wanted to idle those any other way - so as always thanks for that :)

Why you're not using web config generator? You wouldn't need to worry where to put what, you'd just enable STM and match actively in your trading preferences. I have no clue why people are always making it harder for themselves when much better solutions exist and are very well documented.
Comment has been collapsed.
'cause, we're old and dense of course :) - it is somewhat akin to the way I have no clue why some people assume that we are all as capable as them in specific areas of expertise; for instance, I can build computers, I can install an entire central heating system, I can dye my own fabrics, and I can sew quilts and make buttons - but I am thus far not yet capable of interacting with ASF in something more than a rudimentary fashion :P (and completely forgot about the config gen, as the git hub stuff did not remind me LOL) - Subseqently, I would not expect others to be able to do the things that I can do to the same level either :)

This is why I'm just asking instead of bashing somebody or likewise, it was just a genuine question since sometimes people do come up with a valid and logical excuse upon which I can improve my projects and make them applicable for their cases. In your case case, I strongly recommend to use it over writing JSON configs manually, this way you can't possibly generate invalid configs and web config generator ensures its best to allow only valid values and settings.

Not sure if IPC is enabled out of the box or not, but for me I can change settings from http://localhost:1242/page/bots

Some people used to sell the sale cards early for profitz, but I think those days are long gone. Presumably if you have enough sale cards that the tiny price difference matters, you're crafting sale badges not selling the cards.
But smaller inventory = faster inventory. :) For normal people it's irrelevant but having thousands of cards vanish as you finally craft all the sets you've accumulated over the previous six months is a big help for the badge junkies... :)
If that sounds a bit vague, I can finally use https://steam.tools/cards/ again. Once you get umm, I don't remember the precise amount but let's say "a lot" of cards it chokes on your inventory and stops working. :(
Comment has been collapsed.
I actually do remember a script that bought all the missing cards at the lowest current price on a badge page, I think it was one of the card selling inventory management type scripts. Unfortunately I don't have it anymore and don't remember what it's called, maybe someone else knows?

All badges crafted for now... maybe more during the sale. :D
At the moment 171 badges crafted. :)

Just a reminder to everyone that the Steam Awards cards expire later today. Craft the badges, sell them or turn them into gems before they expire.

You're welcome! Just remembered myself.
Same goes for consumables too!

One hour left.
Cards... generally going for about $0.04 USD, if you're very patient ($0.02 profit). Might reach $0.05, but you have a lot of competition at that price. Penny profit is still something if you sell for $0.03; I did that for a bunch just to be rid of them. Or turn them into gems.
Consumables... I've had some listed for the lowest ($0.03 / $0.01 profit) since the middle of the sale... they aren't moving much at all. If you care to, I'd recommend just consuming them.

I just find out that the badge still can be crafted.
I exchange it with trade matcher, to complete some missing cards :)
