Hi...
I'm recently friend requested on Steam a lot by private profiles (always below level 3)...
When I accept them quickly - they insta-send the spam msg (message).
When I accept later, they will trigger at some hour...
Adding one leads usually to more invites...
I keep reporting them... and even started to block them, so I have less invitations, but still have them.
What to do?

Their message looks like this:

Remember, a second chance can not be, it's 5 sec your time....
All in a virtual text document - https://pastebin.com/4Q9WjSiB and on youtube - https://youtu.be/LrF8YjB23Ms
Sorry for spam...```

Edit: I'm not looking into generic advices like:
"It's private profile, just ignore it."

More like solution to current state, okay?
And I posted the spam message, so if anyone tries to find solution to this problem, maybe when he uses parts of message as searching query it will lead him/her here.

quit most your groups and dump anything in your inventory of value and the frequency will likely drop a significant amount. it's typically done thru steam community groups & the more items in your inventory the harder the bots try stupid shit.

I already discovered that, but it's gonna take a while to leave almost 200 groups... considering one friend is also getting those, it's still 150 groups...

i had to drop around 75 groups to get it to almost entirely stop. i still get the occasional random private invite i just ignore (maybe 1-2 a month), but the majority of my invites anymore have been legit ones.

Use Enhanced Steam. There's an extension that allows you to leave groups in bulk.

I guess it's best advice and thing I can do... I'll try to filter the "faulty" group by removing 10 daily...
Maybe it will be helpful to someone else to find that "faulty" group.

It is the answer though. The bots are targeting members of certain groups. Usually groups obviously dedicated to spamming hoarded/extorted dev keys, groups around infamously scammer-magnet games like… pretty much anything with a store on the Steam market (chiefly games published by Valve). So, in essence, like 80% of your current groups. :D

First I removed all groups with "CS" in the name and the frequency of invites seems to decrease, but could be also effect of blocking accounts...

It's for Chrome only, isn't it?
Also, it will require me to have browser on... and when I play, I have it off...

I use that in chrome with background mode (so it works when my browser isn't turned on). Maybe level 2 is actually low, you may choose the higher number. My settings: http://i.imgur.com/XHwolZN.png

If the profile is private instantly BLOCK them. Bots always have private profiles, if a normal person wants to add you he will at least leave a comment on your profile with the reason he wants to contact you(if you have comments enabled for everyone).

The bots mostly add people from all those massive groups that promote fake giveaways/raffles for in-game items. The giveaways themselves are entirely fake with the purpose to increase the number of people in the group or raise the amount of followers and whatever on youtube/social media sites; Aand the raffles scam people out of their cards/other cheap random items but if 100 people put 1 card in those bots with few raffles per day you can imagine the profit those scams do even if it is for cheap stuff. There is literally no reason to join those groups, leave them and bots won't be able to find you and add you.

Yeah... those stupid groups, probably I'll have to re-enter some anyway, if want to participate in GA... so either way, I'll have to waste time. (Or dealing with bots, or dealing with entering groups...)

"Lottery is the poor man's tax"
people with faith can be scammed. some of them will be experienced and evade most scam attempts.

if someone adds you, check him before accept. if low steam lvl/private. block. problem solved. if your inventory has some $$ worth items, scammers, will try to find you. you can report bots, but its just a steam account... 1min, to recreate. cancers of society will always be with us. get used to it.

Why you even accept invites?
Ignore them.
Edit: It's like e-mail spam. Answer and they know someone gullible enough is there.
