The Y40 looks like a pretty good deal, probably the best performance notebook out there for under $1000. I really like the slim form factor as well. It looks like Lenovo is catching up to MSI in terms of build quality.

Is anyone on here considering picking one of these up?

Nah, I got an Acer Aspire V5-561PG-6819 for $620 a few days ago, enjoying it a lot.
Edit: Specs:
Core i5 4200U @ 1.6 GHz Turbos to 2.6 GHz, AMD Radeon R7 M265 (2GB), 15.6 inch Touch display, 8 GB DDR3L RAM, 1TB HDD, and pretty much, yea.

They can get the job done. Sure the price is higher than if you built a desktop, but look at the specs of the laptops in the OP. Those would have no trouble running pretty much anything at decent settings.

Some people need a laptop for mobility and are not looking to buy 2 separate computers.

Try MSI and Asus Gaming laptops, even Toshiba close to gaming laptops but not Lenovo IMO.

I'm considering a Y510p still. Kinda hoping the new Y50's and Y40's help dip the price. (My laptop started to shit the bed about a year ago, and it's all but unusable now thanks to the mobo not supplying proper power and the GPU burning out... yay. And no, it wasn't a Lenovo).

It's more powerful than y50 or y40, but it weights more and isn't so slim. Y510 is really the best gaming notebook in its' category and it's cheaper.

I have a Y510P and it is really good, but shortly after getting it I got myself an Asus ROG G750JM. Now my Y510P is just sitting around being wasted, considering how good it actually is. Might you be interested in a used Y510P i7 for a cheaper price?

I'm still wavering on which of a few laptops I'm going to replace my not-that-old one with, though that SLI one's really got my attention.

i bought a thinkpad because it came with windows 8 profesional which changed to 7.(only reason i bought it for windows 7) And it runs really great on all my games except GTA 4 because it wont detect my RAM and the witcher 2, but that was expected

it only cost me $555.50
