I'm quite curious what old games people still play to this day. For me, it's the Aqua Nox series as well as Magic Carpet amongst the few others I still own on both steam and GOG.

The oldest game that I still play from time to time is Euro Truck Sim. 2, it came out in 2012 tho, so it doesn't fit your description precisely, hopefuly I can get a pass :)). It is one of my favorite games of all time and my most played non-multiplayer game.

I say 2012 Becasue, well it's been 11 years since then so yeah(a new decade, a new generation) Also I love ETS, play the game from time to time.

+1 for Euro Truck Sim 2! I've been trying to get into more D&D podcasts lately and ETS2 is perfect to have something to occupy my hands while not taking too much mental focus so I can still fully absorb what I'm listening to :D

2012 = old? Ouch. :P As far as games go, it has to do more with if I had already finished them or not; so puzzle/strategy/roguelike make up most of them. I'm not sure when they were made, but here are some that i would/still play:

  • Dino Run
  • Dungeon of the Endless
  • Mini Metro
  • Mini Motor Racing
  • the whole Blackwell series
  • Etherlords 2
There's certainly a whole lot more I could recommend as still being good to play if you haven't played them yet (but have low replayability)

Etherlords 2 doesn't get mentioned often but I still haven't found another card based game I enjoy playing as much.

Doom, as in the OG one, more often Doom 2. So many wads to discover means I'll probably still be revisiting it til I'm in actual hell myself.

My childhood. I still remember coming from school and sneaking up to my living room to play Doom, Wolfenstein 3D and Quake 1-2

Wow is that good!? I won it on SG, looking forward towards it ^^
And hopefully after that I will try to win Wolfenstein 3D😅

Yes, it's absolutely that good. The base game is pretty damn solid and surprisingly addictive plus the modding scene for Doom is one of the biggest there is. Pretty sure I can accurately say there's more than a hundred whole new games just from wads. Heck I'm pretty sure there's multiple Wolfenstein 3D remake wads.

Just to name a few:
Freelancer, Stronghold, Gothic 1+ 2, MechCommander (both) and MechWarrior (3+4), Freespace 2, Anno 1701 and Anno 1404.

... I could add a lot more games here.

Is 2012 an arbitrary number, or was it meant to exclude CS:GO? xD

Oh, that is really weird -- I just decided yesterday I would give the old "Aquanox" a shot. Spend some time downloading a patch for mouse control and figuring out how to frame-limit it (it was going 2000 FPS), but it is my next non-couch game right now. :D :D

And my couch game now is Sonic Adventures 2, which is 2012 on PC but 2001 for the Dreamcast -- I was nudged by the PayorPlay group to give it a spin.

Cheers!

But 2012 was 4 years ag- realization
I count 2007 and before old ^^" I guess I should up that number :P
I usually play old games, because I missed that era of gaming. Also because none of them are 80 GBs :P Too many to count atm, but some played recently/playing and/or installed are:

  • Gothic games
  • Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
  • Saints Row 2
  • Alan Wake
  • POSTAL

And a few others

You can still play it online by the way. Check this. They have a forum too so you can find someone to play with. But you must create a new character for it, so don't forget to backup your save files.

Is Project Paradise different from TDU World or they share the same server? First time hearing about it. :)
I love TDU2 too and it's nice to see it's still alive.

Different, i never even heard about TDU World before your comment haha. But same idea, although PP is way more active. TDU World atm has 3 active players, Project Paradise has 22.

I mean Skyrim is not exactly an old game getting a new version each year :)))

Well, being first released in 2011 makes it fit this criteria I guess. Portal 2 would also be an old game by now.

I started playing it less than a year ago and it's the game I more play currently.
I'm extremely overwhelmed for the variety and quantity of mods for this, so I play vanilla version.

Oh yeah. And I'm still playing League of Legends too send help

I replay or pickup to finally finish older titles every now and again- but TF2 is a constant. Either im playing it weekly or on brief hiatus, always installed- not even when i took the one and only hiatus from it, still there on the hd. The few times i had to format the hd, was the first or second game installed.

I've been playing the Trine games for the first time very recently. I've played Torchlight in the not too distant past. I really enjoyed Dust: An Elysian Tale, which is about 10 years old.

I don't classify those games as "old" exactly. Some of them are just as good as games that are released today. I'll still buy and play them if they are good.

Anything made in 2006 or earlier is what I'd personally refer to as old because the games are usually a little dated looking.
