i got info from steam support.

they say my account was involved with hijacking of other accounts and they can't unlock it.

i figured out how it came to this:
a friend of mine lived at my place for almost a year and didn't pay anything like rent or something. then when he finally moved out, he gave me his steam account. he send me the password through steam chat and also in facebook. after that we had some arguments and it didn't end well. now he wrote steam support and told them, i had hijacked his account. i sent steam support a screenshot of the chats and explained them the situation but i think my account is gone now. just because he wrote them first. i dont even want to keep his account, if he wants it back he can have it. he only would had to ask for it. but this ***** wrote instantly to support to fuck me up and get my account locked.

what do you guys think? do i have any chance to get it back?

No cause you and he violated the terms of service.

You are not allowed to trade accounts or giveaway accounts to another person. If found out they will ban you regardless.

It is in the TOS somewhere.

EDIT: Checked it's in section 1:

"You may not reveal, share or otherwise allow others to use your password or Account. "

In short no you are never EVER getting that account back.

What happens when you BETRAY THE LAW!

Fuck does this mean I have to make a Judge Dredd alter ego now?

Also if you have an alt account you use you can use it still. Just the one that was terminated cannot be used!

he gave me his password, not i gave him mine. so wouldn't that be his problem?

Yes I was not clear enough sorry, it is his problem is what I meant to say, so therefore the account he gave to you is terminated. Any other account is alright.

lol that got me a bit more confused. nvm after rereading a lot of the posts I understand now.

well unless they're are records of you buying his account then no, I don't think your account will also be banned if it looks like he just gave you his credentials as a friend. Your account might be banned if you explicitly said you were being paid in any way

nothing like that. i thought so too. he just gave it to me. login and password via chat, no payment or anything. what i wouldn't have done anyway. my account has like 3 times the value of his account, so i really dont need it, also there are almost the same games on it as on mine. it would totally make no sense to buy this account.

so steam support won't listen at all about there being no proof of you buying his account.

Assuming you didn't change the password I don't see how this is even grounds for termination. Did he just send you the credentials and report it hijacked or did you login to the account? Either way, best of luck on recovering your account and at least nobody knows your login credentials (which is good if you're like me and use the same password for everything :b).

i logged in and i changed password to something i can remember. i wanted to use this account and didn't think it would turn out like this. i installed family sharing too, so i can play on my own account. after a week or something he reported it as hijacked. of course i traded his stuff to my account and sold it, because i dont need it twice.

THIS is what went wrong. If you did take his inventory items and sell them, you had crossed the point of no return. Make a new account is all you can do now.

So you took possession of his account, changed his password and then traded all items to your account and sold them? o_O

Doesn't look very good for you... I doubt Steam support is going to listen to any story.

but i have the screenshots of the chats, also the steam chat should have logged that he sent me his password doesn't it? also, doesn't this fall under "never give your password to anyone"? i mean shouldn't steam say in this case his own fault? why blaming me? i think my whole story should be proofable as well, because he logged in from my ip for almost a year, can't steam see this?

Why did you accept his account to begin with?!? o_O

Why did you change his password?

Why did you trade all items from his inventory to yours and then sell them?

These are things, that to Steam, make you look guilty...

I hope you get your account back, I was in a similar situation like yours a while ago so I kind of know what it feels like.

I played this mmo. I had a so called friend that gave me his account and moved away. He told me he was never going to play the game again so he gave me his account and login info. I waited a few months to see if he would change his mind and asked him if he wanted his account back and he said no he was done for good. So I stripped all his characters and sold the stuff off for in-game currency. About a year later he sent a ticket to support saying his account was hijacked and his items stolen so they banned my account since I transferred them to mine.

Anyway good luck!

Just remember, if you ever start a new account, just in case it ever gets hacked, buy a game from the store to start it and activate it using that key and then keep that box safe.

So if anything ever happens, you can show them the game that started the entire account. You can't get much more proof than that.
