I am really looking forward to DOOM Eternal
I am genuinely considering pre-ordering despite being very much against the existence of pre-orders. Conflicted!
So I decided to giveaway another copy of DOOM 2016
maybe I'll infect someone else with the DOOM Eternal fever once they play that - actually I wanted to give two copies of the game because you need to solve 3 puzzles to get to the giveaway, but fanatical told me I've been buying too many copies, and blocked my purchase... So we're left with one copy unless I manage to get it tomorrow and simply link it in the comments. So good luck everyone, there are two Jigis to solve once you get past the first hurdle

How do you feel about this giveaway, especially in contrast with my last experiment

nope, a solid attempt though

can you not post any answers here even if they are wrong? It's still a hint even if it's showing what is not correct.
I'd appreciate it if you removed that

Yeah, done. Either way, I give up. Spent like 20 minutes thinking about it on and off and got nothing in the end.

First, thank you for the puzzle and giveaway. :)
But Frankly, I don't like the new kind of GAs. The first one I didn't even solved (well, I got stuck and I didn't know what to do). I went through this one but I think, the problem is that not everyone is fluent in English and sometimes it is hard to understand what is the answer when you do not understand the question properly (especially when there are english idioms).

I can of course translate the question into a few other languages, but that's a slippery slope, I'll never write it in enough languages to please everyone

I didn't mean to use translator, because everyone can do this - I meant not using that many sophisticated words or sentences which are hard to translate to other languages.

I think the word "score" tripped non-native speakers, since it is assumed to mean "score in a game" rather than "musical arrangement"

I don't know this meaning of "score",but there is "soundtrack" before.So I took a guess^_^

Tbh, I recommend not to pre-order. Its hard to belief Bethesda nowadays even though they are only the publisher. The recent Young Blood didnt come out any better. Totally recommending to wait to see some gameplay and review on release. Unless, you're a diehard Doom fan and cant control the urge to.
Cheers, Happy Weekend ^^

I used to be a diehard Diablo fan, and I preordered D3
last preorder I ever made - I think everyone knows why

I actually thought vanilla D3 was really fun, at least until you reached Act 4 on Hell difficulty. And Inferno was just an awful, awful grind that sapped away any fond feelings one might have had for the game.

It's amazing how much better the game is now after the Reaper of Souls addition and the Loot 2.0 change.

But, anyway, I echo Cruse's advice - there's really no reason to pre-order. It's not like there's a limited quantity of copies, such that you have to reserve yours before they sell out. Just wait for the reviews to come out and confirm that it's as great as the 2016 Doom - or, in my case, wait till it's $10 or less. :)

D3 simply had no end game for me, it wasn't fun
infact D3 was the reason I went back to PoE and played it pretty exclusively for a while, I unfortunately don't have the time to play PoE these days - now that is a good game.

Yep, D3 was also the last game I preordered. Still remember coming home from Gamestop and trying for hours to even login to the overloaded servers, good times. When I finally got on the next day, I admittedly had fun for a while but the system was really dumbed down from D2 and I didn't play for long after beating the main acts. I agree that new ARPGs like Path of Exile and Grim Dawn have picked up the torch that Blizzard dropped.

I certainly like it better , than the previous experiment, in which from 111 players solving 222 Jigidis, 91 seem to run head on into a puzzle, with very badly worded question, which they were not able to solve at least till now.

Saying this, no, I don't hate it, but I'm simply not interested in this kind of IsTooHard puzzles. By "this kind" I mean a puzzle about a pretty obscure topic, which from most of us requires a mundane Internet search, instead of wit. It's additionally annoying with the 30 second wait between entering consecutive answers.

But, well, I have enjoyed so many of your Jigidis, that I see no reason to complain about the few puzzles, that I don't like ;)

an interesting observation, I'll consider that one and see what I come up with in the future.

Thank you for the input

I'm happy you put the ITH first this time because I have been searching for over 30 minutes and can't find the answer. No point in spending hours doing 2 jigidis if I can't get through the ITH.

Edit: Finally found the answer.

I think ordering the puzzles this way was much better. The ITH was also much easier to solve although there are arguably more than one answer depending on where you look. Still, it didn't take that many tries to get the right one and it was nice to know off the bat that if finding the answer was too difficult than I could stop trying before taking the time to solve the puzzles.

Thanks!

I find that this becomes more of a test of how good your googling skill is plus how lucky you are to find it. Granted that we know more about how the soundtrack of the game comes about, but it doesn't make sense when the question itself requires a certain obscure answer.

I personally pay a lot of attention to game soundtracks, and probably think about and analyse them more than the average gamer.
Some people might look at coding, or graphics, or whatever other element the same way - for me it's music and soundtracks.

This is just a small taste of what goes through my mind; I realize that sharing through discussion is more effective, but why be effective when I can be obtuse?

Totally agree with the ITH -> puzzle route.

This ITH was straight forward for me. Took me just a minute or two and got it on the first try. I could easily see it being non-obvious though.

I think language barriers may be something you could work around if you want, but you'd lose your style of phrasing. Things that could help: avoid idioms, use simpler vocabulary, ask progressive questions instead of having multiple steps in one question.

That said, there's noting wrong with doing it the way you are. Just like hiding a GA behind a complicated physics puzzle or a crypto puzzle, it doesn't have to be accessible to everyone. Don't be afraid to stick to a style you enjoy. You don't have to find your audience. You can wait for them to find you.

I've also enjoyed that you're focusing on elements of the game that may go overlooked. I appreciate the effort to highlight some element of the GA game beyond just artwork.

Thank you for the feedback Thac0

I might have different kinds of questions in the future, such as puzzles in the questions rather than trivia questions related to the games in question. But I will also have more trivia style questions as well. Maybe on a day when I have more than 20 minutes to set up a giveaway I'll come up with something.

I will not be reconsidering my use of the language though. I know that some people are having difficulties on that front, but one of the reasons behind these puzzles is to not just have a GA accessible to everyone. Changing my phrasing might allow too many entries. I agree with you on that one "You don't have to find your audience".

Cheers

Well, it was interesting learning how the soundtrack was made, thanks for that. Still, after trying everything I've found, I can't get past the ITH. I guess I'm missing something.
Anyway, thanks for the puzzle. I think too this order is better.

Edit: got it!

I haven't solved it. I really don't like ITH. It's very annoying not able to try several things quickly. I appreciate the change of order, that's something positive. But other times there were ITH puzzles here, I also had a bad, not fun experience, so I left anything with ITH - including when I thought I could have solved given enough patience with ITH.

I also like nonograms (40 hours in Picross) but I don't like how they're made here. So I'll stick with Jigidis from now on. However I applaud you for doing something different. And I think everyone agrees ITH first is best.
