I am new to steam gifts and love gifting games, but I see many games that have such a high contributor requirement that it will take me a long time to have enough money to buy them and gift them. It's no big deal, but I just dont really know where to buy from except for humble bundle, and steam itself. Anyone have any other safe and cheap places where I can buy from so that I can afford to buy and gift as I want to but still where I can build up my points here in steam gifts to help myself qualify to possibly apply for the good games in the future. Thanks in advance for your time. Have a great day. PS, I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way. I really have a strong disire to help others, but I also want to help myself :)

Reddit is such a mess, how do you find anything on it?
It's so confusing.

Here's a tip. Get a RSS feed (even easier if you have a smartphone, you can just check every time you have a moment) and add the GameDeals subreddit to the feed. Then you can just look through the headlines real quick and mark everything you aren't interested in as read and tag the rest. Things you have already seen or read will not appear again. In the comments is usually helpful purchasing advise.
It is very thorough in the game sales and information is up much faster than on this forum.

You can usually do pretty well from Amazon too.

A bit of a warning... Don't give away games just so you can up your contributor value.

The odds of it allowing you to win enough games to recoup the value of what you spend on the games you give away aren't very good. You're better off just trying to get into some giveaway groups and keeping an eye on the forum for private giveaways and the like.

I know there's no way the total it would have cost me to purchase the games I have won would be even close to the amount I have spent on games to give away. If your only reason for giving games away is to get CV to up your chance of winning games, it will probably be cheaper in the end to just buy the games you want when they go on sale.

One way to circumvent this would be using sites like Swagbucks or Tremor Games (both of which are reliable, as far as I know). You just do random things, get points, and buy games with your points.

Tremor: http://www.tremorgames.com/ (this is not a ref link)

Swagbucks: http://www.swagbucks.com/ (neither is this)

Or you could get a job... both are kinda the same concept. Put time in, get paid, buy games.

Yeah, pretty much. I'd say Tremor and Swagbucks are less effective ways of doing the same thing for people who maybe can't get a job or don't have enough extra to get games on a regular basis.

IndieGala has a store front but check their offerings carefully since not every game comes with a key. Also, this site is pretty reliable for checking out the cheapest prices. http://www.cheapassgamer.com/

Probably Steam. You're always guaranteed to get a Steam version of a game there.

I personally wouldn't trust everything you can find here, but there are some very interesting prices...

You can't get safest anywhere near cheapest, and vice versa. They're opposite ends of the scale.
