I've enjoyed some great puzzles on SG, and I want to give back to the folks that create them, so I've created an invite-only GA for Obduction - a beautiful puzzle game which I've enjoyed very much (review) - I just finished my second playthrough (missed an achievement the first time around), and I loved wrapping my mind around the puzzles again.

If you consider yourself a puzzle-contributor, are interested in the GA, and have not already been invited, please comment below with a link to one of your puzzles (perhaps your favorite) which you've created or contributed to in a meaningful way (and have attribution from a puzzle creator - e.g. they call you out by name to say thanks).

Edit: You're certainly welcome to create a puzzle to qualify, but if your 'qualification puzzle' was created after this discussion started, it must be non-trivial (determined by me, or possibly a jury of your peers), but you've got a few weeks, so get on it!

You're also welcome to share this discussion, and you are welcome to discreetly share the invite-only GA link with other puzzle creators - if you can't think of a way to share it discreetly, just post the user's puzzle details (reference) below and I'll take care of it.

To find some of my old puzzles search the discussions for "Puzzalphabet" or "Pixel Perfect Puzzle", can't find my pixelated profile pictures puzzle :/

You know, I see a first time a thread or GA for appreciating the puzzlers. This is sweet.

I don't want to play this game you are giving away now, but thanks a lot!
My puzzle threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

Mostly they had something unique in mechanics. My favorite was the puzzle [8] in "The Saw" style. I love making puzzles but it takes loads of time, has so small exposure to people, and winners are not usually interested in games so it is more a thing for own fun :]

You would definitely qualify, though. (in case you were wondering)

Didn't spent a lot of time on SG puzzle sections since one or two months because I'm working on solving a treasure hunt (and it's taking me a lot of time with very hard to break ciphers where you have to find the key with no hint like a pollux cipher) But I think that the best puzzles are the one that can challenge you. Sometimes when I saw puzzles that looks too easy or looks like I've already did this kind of puzzles a lot of time I didn't even try to solve them or I solve them but I feel like it was a bit boring and it didn't helped me to improve my skills in solving puzzles.

A challenging puzzle is not always something hard but also sometimes simple puzzles that forces you to think in a different way. i also like puzzles that looks creative because here we have some great creators who spend a lot of time to prepare a puzzle or an event. We had the Louvre by Mikalye recently or Nickchanger's event. And before that I think to some others name who made great things too! But you probably already know those names if you enjoy the best puzzles on SG!

I hope the community will have new creators of puzzles that will make things interesting with new ideas! When i'll have time after the treasure hunt or when I'll be bored with it. i'll try to work on something I think. And it won't be easy!

I'llt ry to take time again here to look if some interesting puzzles pop up!

The short time when I made puzzle on SG was amazing. I still have a list of puzzle ideas that I have not had the time to carry out. I look forward to getting back into making more people angry making more puzzles when I'm in a different life situation and have more free time.
Thanks greatly for your invitation and puzzle-appreciation thread. :)

This is my first and (for now) only puzzle, probably it's not enough to consider myself a puzzle-contributor...
P.S. i have taken out the super secret code from my review page because the giveaway was ended and the prize assigned

Fun idea, but yeah - I'm looking for more investment than that for this particular 'giving-back' GA. There certainly is still time for you to create a bigger puzzle, though, and more than a few examples of 'good' puzzles, even in this thread...

Hey, nice initiative, it's always appreciated when people acknowledge puzzle creators :3

I have done a couple puzzles in December and am planning to get this thread back up again this weekend because I got new keys to share.

I have coded from scratch a program that can generate a nonogram puzzle, which when completed, can be inserted into a QR code which can then be deciphered to reveal the link of the giveaway.

I had started this puzzle initiative when the Nono puzzles creator announced he was to take a break. Since the Xmas vacations, I've been dealing with things of my own, but now it's time to start giving again :).

I also made this puzzle, but had to cancel it because I f-ed up :(.
But I still have the code that generated it, so I'm planning on making a new one as well.

Thanks, and stay tuned for more puzzles :D!!!

Some of my own favorites were: Nongram event, Choo choo puzzle, Fishy puzzle.

I don't know if it counts, but I try my luck :)

This was my little "puzzle" I created: Coub-tastic Voyage

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm still on the fence a bit, but I imagine the coubs did take at least some effort to create (more than just one jigidi), and you certainly punished (and entertained?) at least a few people ;). Do you have plans to create more puzzles?

Yeah, it took me a few hours to set this up :) (Although I will be faster next time, now that I know exactly what to do :P)
The responses were really mixed :D
Some gave up before even trying I think :P
But that's the point of puzzles I guess...sort out people who aren't willing to take some effort :)

Will I create more puzzles?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure...but first I have to gather some new keys to give away :)
And I don't know what kind of puzzle it will be...
I'm not really good with these intellectual riddles, so it may be something similar to the videos again :)

The decision is up to you :)
Don't worry, I won't hold a grudge against you :D
It's nice of you to reward all the puzzle creators :)

Not here for the giveaway, just want to share some favourite puzzles:

  1. My first puzzle... by chiarap2000
  2. My factory day really easy puzzle for bundle boobie games by pooksalot
  3. Feel Phish by PlayfulKaitie

And here's a puzzle I made
My puzzle

What's your opinion on your poll?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Looks like chiarap2000 could qualify, but they haven't logged in to SG for 1.5 years. Pooksalot looks like they've contributed at least a few nice puzzles (and a bunch more GAs besides), and they have Obduction in their wishlist, so I'll be extending an invite. PlayfulKatie has contributed some puzzles as well - not for >1yr, but there was no 'recency' requirement, and maybe this will encourage her to get back into it.

Thanks for the referrals!

I'm indifferent on the poll, I guess - not surprising so many like jigidi's, but I'm glad the 'mind-benders/non-traditional' was ranked highly as well ;)

I don't mind a good puzzle, I also don'ti mind writing a bloody hard one (apparently)

Currently trying to write a few new ones for my left over GA's. I might change the format a little bit but I really like the idea of completing "stages".

anyway here you go... have a look at 3 & 4 especially... as it is ended the solutions are on page 2 at the bottom of the main thread,

I made this thing, does that count? Or is that the opposite and now I'm banned from the giveaway?

I don't think I've made any good puzzles yet though. I had a clever one once, but certainly none as good as some of the ones I've seen on here. I have a bunch of notes for a big one I want to try running, but I just don't have the time lately to put anything together.

Not sure I should be asking to join either since I'm having so much trouble working through my backlog as it is, but dang does that game look interesting. At the very least it's on my radar now, so thanks for that.

Anything added to zelgh's magic guide certainly counts as a contribution to the puzzling community, but I am going more for puzzle creation than solving techniques. Glad to at least put Obduction on your wishlist, though! Oh, and as a consolation prize, welcome to my whitelist!

Probably my favourite are mind benders
