I started with The Prodigy and Pendulum. Went from Drum'n'Bass, through house, psychodelic, dubstep, metal-electro things, ambient, swing, chill, electro-pop and now I'm mostly looking for Bass House. Too bad that for most of my friends "electro" is a synonym to "dumb shitty noises". And then I hear them singing Major Lazer or Daft Punk... ehh..

Daft Punk... Dude. Daft Punk. You are putting them on the same level as Major Lazer?! I see where you're coming from, but you still gotta admit that they're one of the most influential musicians in EDM.
I personally got to EDM through Nu Disco and French House, so obviously I love them, but still... It's Daft Punk, dude.
Also there's one part in the Major Lazer series that I actually like, despite their fidget stuff or whatever they do nowadays. This one.

No no no, hold up, I'm not putting them on the same level. I just literally heard my friends hum Daft Punk and sing one of Major Lazer's songs few days ago. Daft Punk are definitely a cosmic entity when it comes to electronic. MJ are quite fresh for me, and make what I consider pop, but then again I never hated on pop-electro :)

Piggybacking off your recommendation, my band, Med Downline, is an industrial rock band with some chiptunes/NES influence. All our CDs are available for "Name Your Price" coughFREE.99cough on bandcamp. This is our industrial rock one with vocals I'm linking.. we have a complete chiptunes version of this CD, an original chiptunes CD, and a CD of MicroSongs Wario Ware style up there, too.
