So I recently bought two tubes of Kalles Kaviar from IKEA cuz they were on sale and I've read up on how horrible they taste but it's really quite fine to me and the family, although the sis refuses to eat it cuz it's apparently too cruel to eat tubed fish eggs, roe, which we love and eat a lot of in sushi anyways, anyhow, what I'm trying to say is that from my google sleuthing, I can only find recipes for Kalles Kaviar with hard boiled eggs and crispbread, and I've also come across something quite interesting, cream Kalles Kaviar spaghetti, but there is no recipe.

I'll like to request for some recipes that you may have or can concoct. I'll add an invite-only level-according-to-the-person-who-suggested-the-recipe-specific giveaway for each decent recipe you can come up with. The two tubes expire at the end of the month tho lmao but I'll still probably eat it because preservatives and also it's in a tube, in a fridge.

If you have no idea what Kalles Kaviar is, Kalles Kaviar is super salty yet oddly sweet and fishy, cod fish baby eggs that is a stable in Sweden, where IKEA is from duhh.

Edit; "No in the way" is not a typo btw hahaxDd

And here, first one's freeee.

It's good on sandwiches and sometimes with egg, nothing much else for me.

There are quite a few different "types" of kaviar

The one with cream cheese is particularly tasty. Not sure if it's still produced though as it's been a while since I saw one.

Kaviar with Hard boiled eggs on buttered crispbread (knäckebröd at IKEA) is the classic way to eat it, like the guy on the tube does. But it's fine alone on whatever type of bread you want. We don't really use it in cooking or anything, it's for sandwhiches.

Don't know any recipes, but it is odd to see Kaviar as a paste instead of the single fish eggs.

I am an inverterate recipe googler - I read a lot of recipes and then modify them based on what I have in the house (or are willing to go shopping for).

This one looks interesting spaghetti with caviar and cream

This one uses mascarpone or sour cream Pasta with Caviar

And found one that mentions he is going to try the recipe with Kalles Kaviar (in the comments) Japanese Mentaiko Spaghetti

smorgaskaviar mashed potatoes it's exactly what it sounds like - just mash it in with some boiled potatoes

Also, it goes well on hot blintzes just make some mini-pancakes or heat up some small soft tortillas

As a Swede who grew up with Kalle's - and there's a tube in my fridge right now waiting for breakfast - I honestly have never heard of using it in any form of cooking. It's exclusively a sandwich topping really, often paired with boiled sliced eggs, and also used with hard boiled eggs in other settings on occasion.

I mean I'm sure you CAN put it in food, it's just not really done much, so might be hard to find recipes. I only found one in Swedish while googling that is really commonly edible, and it's a kaviar sauce to eat with fish... It's literally just mixing it with cream and adding a little flour to make a sauce. You can perhaps try that with your pasta? It's 2,5 volume units of cream to 1 volume unit of the caviar, and then add flour (like a tablespoon at a time if you make a decent amount of sauce) while whisking until it achieves the wanted consistency.

Hello, resident in IKEA land here. I don't eat Kalles at all, actually. But if you can find Messmör ( a special type of butter, to use on sandwiches) or Köttbullar (meatballs) over at IKEA, do give them a try.
