So I was looking into this game and it looks pretty cool. At the end of the trailer it says for xbone and pc. I am like hey cool I'll go put that on my steam wishlist... but where is it? Oh yeah that's right, its ONLY released on the windows pc store as opposed to using steam -_-. Like I get that Microsoft is a company and wants to keep growing but how many people will actually get a game off of the Windows store? Man it looks so cool I'd even consider getting it on UPlay or Origin but the windows store, come on? What are your guy's opinions?

Worse, but Microsoft can handle it I guess. It's a shame all these corporations are so stubborn and can't handle the 30% fee and try to hog all the money they can by making their own store platforms.

As if you would not do the same if you could...

I wish people would stop acting like Corps are the only ones that try get max profit,if you wanted to sell something on ebay and the going rate was 200 bucks for said item, and fees are almost 20% would you list your item for less then 200 to sell it faster, and then on top of the 20% in fees.Or would you list on on say Craigslist or Facebook to sell it with no fees and max profits?

This is no different then them wanting to cut out the middle man.

And the 20% is rough estimate as last i knew paypal+ebay fees where almost 20%

I do not like Microsoft and how they handled windows live,so i am not sure how the Windows Store would be,but i do not blame anyone for wanting to cut out the middle man,i would to if i could.

Steam is not any better at being greedy with the market, and taking 30% and then trying to slip in paid mods.why does Steam aka Valve get a free pass while everyone else is treated like the devil.Steam is all about max profits, why you think it took so long to get refunds and only because they had no choice, not only that all the money they make they still have some worse support ever.

All well i will never get this biased hate like some how Steam is above the rest and gets a pass because of sales and stupid cards.I can say on the business end of this,i think it is still a stupid move on Microsoft to do Windows Store only, but time will tell how many will get from the Store, but still even if it is on Steam it still does not mean the game would be a success but surely it would sell more.

P.S. It seems you are stubborn and it seems you can only handle things being on Steam.

I get the business behind this, but nobody wants a thousand stores on their computer. Yes I can only handle things being on Steam, because I don't want my gaming library spread across tens of different accounts on different platforms and some shitty platforms like Uplay even force you to use them while playing their games from Steam. Not to mention that Steam went through a lot of shit to get to where it is today, dealt with a lot of issues to handle the things that it does. Every new store that comes up faces those issues and they fail. Origin and Uplay leaked account details, including unprotected passwords, which caused tens or even hundreds of thousands of accounts to get compromised, including mine. Steam has a lot of issues, but they never fucked up this hard.

Steam mods fiasco was stupid and I thought it was a completely fair deal. People just raged about it because they didn't want to pay for mods because they're used to free things and the execution wasn't done so well, but the idea itself was a good one.

The reason I call them corporations is not because they're evil and greedy, but because they make stupid corporate decisions without understanding their market or the issues that it brings. If they released their games on both platforms, I'd be fine with it, they can do whatever else they want with their platform, but when they purposefully take their games away from Steam, they only lose customers. There are plenty of games I'm not going to bother buying simply because they're not on Steam.

No you assume why people ragged on it for the paid dlc ...

The issue i had like a lot of others was the cut the creator was getting and how much Steam and Beth. where taking...that is why i was against it,and they just tried pushing it in..so yeah they where being greedy..

Second issue is...how many broken mods would be made and how much of a big issue would it have been to sort all that out,not to mention before it even got off the ground people where stealing other works to profit from.

I rather donate direct to the creator then be forced to buy something that i may or may not like just to give it a try...it was just a cash grab for Valve and Beth,to increase revenue. Also some mod creators where against it and some of them where quit popular mod creators. In the end it was not a bad idea so to speak,it was just handle in all the wrong ways.

Just the same as Microsoft is trying to do with this game, which is increase there profits. It is also from there own Studio so why would they not do this?Do you see Valve games being sold and downloaded on other platforms? How come they do not sell there games on Origin or Ubi,or the Microsoft Store..or on GOG.Again why does Valve get a free pass??

I also agreed that it is going to lose sales for them, but the fact of the matter is,you either going to get use to more things like this,or get use to complaining a lot more.Though same could be said for Origin only games, yet they seem to still be selling just fine without being on Steam.

Fact is i wish i could get all my games on GOG because i like DRM FREE and i am against all forms of DRM because in the end most of the time it just a FU to paying people.Instead i have to use other platforms i do not like or want to.I get the game to where it is going to give me the best deal.

The biggest problem seems to be that the games there are kind of locked, due to them being UWP.

Microsoft isn't going to give up on Windows Store, just like they're not gonna give up on Bing, Surface, or Windows Phone.
Microsoft might not be capable of generating an original thought, but their business method has always been to see what everyone else is doing, then copy it and leverage their size, connections, and wealth, to out-muscle the competition. Of course, for many reasons, it's not working too well at the moment, but they've seen the writing on the wall, and those services have enough potential to be worth the fight.
(of course, the smarter move would be to just buy Valve, but let's not give them any ideas)

It will sell worse and it's a dumb move. BUT I think it will be temporary and once they see that it will go on Steam. Just like with Tomb Raider as an Xbox "excluvise".

Well, Rise of the Tomb Raider wasnt't published by Microsoft...

I think they'll be using this to put their own storefront to the test, backed by plenty of wishful thinking that people have forgotten about Games for Windows Live already.
I'm also betting Steam is their back-up plan if this doesn't work out in the first few months, since that's how they've published a bunch of other titles already.

Tom Raider was a time exclusive from the start though i think even without it and a PS4 launch it would still have not sold as well as they hoped, even on the pc the sales #'s are not that great, selling less then the xbox exclusive.

There is no doubt being just on the Windows store and not on Steam it will hurt sales, but in the end..unless it was also on steam there is no way even find out if it would matter. As even a Steam release does not mean it will sell enough to matter.

it's not about sales for this game, it's about promoting windows store. In the long run, a well-developed digital delivery service is worth far more than any single game (see e.g. Valve: Steam vs Half-Life 3).

Of course, this is just a half-assed way to do it

Obviously worse, but it's probably intentional, get more people to gather around the Windows store, then release it on Steam later down the road to cash in a little more. They get more traffic and still make a buck.

It was never on my wishlist any way, so it doesn't bother me.

i'm surprised ubisoft isn't doing exclusive client games yet like EA, MS or blizzard...

which would be a good thing for us, no more assassin's creed and m&m heroes spam on steam.

I think the best business move would be putting their games on the windows store one or two months BEFORE Steam. This way they can still (hope) to grow their own store, and they'll still get the cash from all the people on Steam.

It won't use Denuvo so probably will be cracked a few days after release.

Publisher is Microsoft studios. They had released Max: The Curse of Brotherhood on Steam in 2014. But the situation is different this time. It's a AAA title.

I think we will see it on Steam too but i don't know about the time!.

  • Windows 10 only (as it uses dx12)
  • Windows store only
  • a porting from an xbox one requires a 760 gtx as minimum requirements

Hype status = K.I.A.

Yeah, the game seems too demanding. And I think I'll keep windows 7 on my main gaming rig since most of my games are old or indie games. I think moving to 10 there will only make sense when most games make use of directx 12.

I also would hate buying the game on the windows store, as that means lack of control. Steam allows me to tweak configuration files and many games can have mods.

Well, let's see if it won't end up on Steam sooner or later.

"Hey lets fk up the XBOX owners by releasing it on PC ! Oh why stop there, lets fk up the PC gamers by making it exclusive to Windows store !"

Microsoft is f**king retarded and they WILL release this game on Steam sooner or later.

Wow, looks really cool! I think I'll just wait and hope they put add it on Steam someday - I would probably not pay the release price even if it was on Steam on day 1 ... I actually bought Alan Wake not long after it came out for the 360, still only played the tutorial - I have more than enough to keep me entertained until MS sees reason ;)

Windows Store... does it mean it will require GFWL as DRM?

Well they are inviting a lot of people to pirate it I suppose, most people only like to use Steam and some others cope with EA and Ubi, but to cope with MS too for one game... lol, good luck with that.
