I opened pc with great hopes to buy all older Bethesda titles, Morrowind and Oblivion still at 50%, really wtf
Also after I won Dark Souls 2, I wanted to buy the first game as soon as the sale starts. It's like a total joke, it's even not on sale.

You will never find Bathesda games at 75 in summer and winter , that will be a miracle :D

Out of the four Steam-only games I wanted, three have the exact same discounts I expected. Worse discounts than what their siblings had in the past years, but still, what I expected
Of course it would also be nice if I could buy the fucking things, but I cannot get past the checkout screen, because Valve seems to be more and more unreliable each sale. Usually 2-3 hours were enough to get their shit together yet I still cannot do anything, even though it would be beneficial if I could download two DLCs today.

The Long Dark's "sale" is double the price of its lowest. Caves of Qud is only 10% off. RimWorld is never on sale, and still not. Dark Souls 1 is not on sale at all despite being in previous sales. This Steam Sale was a complete bust for me.

This sale sucks for a very new reason. I did not expect to spend a dime as I was not expecting anything good., and even in a good sale I only buy 2 or 3 games.
But now they've put a 75% or higher discount on 12 of my wl games. That's insane!!
How could they do this to me? Now I have to choose instead of being disappointed. I am so not prepared for this.

It could have been worse... Like more than 12 games on big discount . Now get yourself a set of dice and start rolling them to pick the winners(from your purchase list).

I like your positive look at things lol. Brought it down to 10 already and still have over a week to get ride of a few more. Must be possible.

For years I've defended the sale against the same "this sux" people, however this years heavy load seems a bit more intense than usual. So I can't have a look around at the deals yet to defend against the sux brigade, fortunately though it seems like everyones come to some kind of happy agreement that its all just very average!

I decided to boycott the Steam Store after the changes to the gifting system, and was wondering if the Summer Sale discounts would challenge my decision. Well, it turned out to be super easy. I just went over my wishlist and couldn't find a single discount which was hard to resist. My wallet is safe.

My own rant: I've hidden visual novels and VR games from my exploration queue - half of the games were visual novels and VR games...

They really need a "do not ever show me VR games" option on the store in general. Trying to browse new releases, half of it are generic shitty looking VR shovelware :P

I feel like the sale would be better if the damned search function worked. Can't find hidden gems if you can't leave the front page.

WHY NO DARK SOUL 1 FOR FUCK SAKE ... DAMN !!!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

None of the things I was looking forward to check out during the sale came at a discount I liked, but I wasn't expecting miracles anyway.
I did find some stuff that sparked my interest a little in my wishlist, mostly small indie titles, but the never-ending lag and hanging on just about every page combined with the lack of any exciting titles on sale made me drop everything and take my business elsewhere.
To be fair however, I have a fairly limited budget atm and there was a lot on sale I wouldn't touch simply because it's "not low enough for me" yet. Other people might have a different experience.

I just don't get why Valve can't make it to were Steam store doesn't run like shit every time they have a big sale.

I mean I sold my cards and got Massive Chalice. Steam sale always sucks. But when you have a stack of cards built up to use instead of actual money, it can be profitable.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1 : 80% off, alright. Already have it.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow "1.5" : Mirror of Fate : 80% off, alright. I will buy it.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 : no discount. Whaaat ?! I hope it's a mistake and it will be fixed soon...

Just 2 cards from the exploration queue. Didn't we get 3 the last times?

There are 3 cards, just ignore the message from your exploration queue cos it is some Steam bug :) Also I had to do 4 queues for a 3rd card to drop because Steam has a lag but it worked :)

No clicker game Check
At least a handful of my wishlist with 75%+ Check
Something on my wishlist with 90%+ No
Daily (or more) massive discount games No

Well it's better than the last sale but it's not pre 2014 sale quality.

Steam has ALMOST matched prices in retail stores in Poland. Well done!

Now I can decide whether I want to get a game key with no bonuses, or spend a little less money a hard paper box, physical artbook, soundtracks, a poster, postcards, and the game, possibly additional DLC (or, worst case scenarion, get the game and a neat box for less €), since 99,9% retail game copies have to be activated on Steam anyway.

HMMMMM SUCH A HARD DECISION!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I really, really miss buying physical copies of games. It's hard to find them here anymore though, unless they're "used"/overstocked games. I still have an original box version of Baldur's Gate 2+Throne of Bhaal that I found at a local half-price book/game store in mint condition.

I love my local distributor. They really make the boxes nice.

Homeworld, Deserts of Kharak - beautiful artbook, oldschool guide book, full soundtrack, full season pass, very nice hard paper box. Some stickers too, and a mid-sized, but awesome poster. I even got a high quality T-shirt (limited time only) - price on day 1? I paid 20€.
Battlefleet Gothic Armada - very oldschool guidebook with lore, huge map of Gothic Sector, stunning box, full soundtrack and full season pass. Price? 25€.
Flame in the Flood - absolutely beautiful artbook, postcards, guidebook, soundtrack, stickers, and some other stuff I don't remember. Price? 15€, day 1.
Or something more recent
Everspace - stunning artbook, stickers, full soundtrack, big, double sided poster, great box and a slick steelbook. Cost me 20€.

All of these have Steam keys you have to activate to play, cost less than on Steam (often even during Steam sales), and offer so much more game content (season passes, bonuses) and physical goodies.
