Also to the self introduction example you can add that you know what you want,tell them about what u are aiming and explain them how important that is for you,or let them ask questions and add specific achievements in your life (might be one or two, dont make the list long,also highlight your strenghts,abilities and What you hope to accomplish through your education looking forward to working. Also avoid telling jokes except if the audience aren't young like you and you know they'll enjoy hearing few jokes it will help you not being nervous.

I've recently went through some job applications myself, so the cover letter templates would be good for self introductions because you will have to state and sum up your skills relevant to the research position/ application, and why they should choose you, state your interest and what you can bring to the team, etc.
