Well, as it must happen with some gamers, sometimes I get overloaded with work or household chores... and without much enthusiasm to finish anything (shame on me).

When this happens, I usually play games that have fixed rounds, alternating each turn with a task. For example: I put the clothes to wash and play one turn, wash the dishes and play another turn, and so on… This helps me to do some tasks without feeling overwhelmed or sad because I am unable to dedicate a lot of time to myself or because I don't take care of my house and other responsibilities (ok, it's weird, but it works).

So… I need very specific games, which have regular time shifts. Like This War of Mine (which was the first game I won here, four years ago) and This is The Police I and II, which divide the shifts into days, where you perform some actions and then end the round.

4x games don’t work, because the initial turns of the game are very fast (since you have little to manage), and the final turns are too long (since you have a million cities, soldiers, workers and enemies to worry about). The ideal is that the turns always have an approximate duration (around 10 minutes, perhaps?).

If you can recommend something that can help me (while I still have fun) I will be very grateful. : )

For those who have not yet had the opportunity to play any of the games I mentioned, click here.

Thanks for the huge train. I think games like Monster Train or Darkest Dungeon would work well with your method.

also if play offline it's very beautiful game i like much, don't have storytelling, and at start is little bit hard (must put pole oxigen on earth first for survive or people thing game is bad because fast die , important put pole oxigen at start),but can explore different planets and manage terrain create or remove , and build things, craft, manage electric etc. very funny, and if when busy just go inside ship first (this will save status) then exit game.
But it's better if you sometime do backup of save folder, because this game many updates have, and if u play it long time i's better make a backup of saves every 1 week play for not lose it if happen something bad,and i know steam have cloud savess but i'm not a big fan of "cloud things" i prefer to make backup myself different storages.
edit:
and it's useful to always have 1 fan eolic in bag + 1 tank of terrain with you, just in case if something wrong fall down in holes or explosions make holes, then can make stairs with terrain+energy for fix go back.
Because put a dynamite under your ass and make it explode for try to jump up back it's not a good idea,i try it but not work hahahaha

Hey, it looks like you really like this game!

I like it when someone likes a game and shares these little tips with others, to share something they think is good, you know? I gave TWoM a lot of friends because I think it's a really amazing game, and I've done the same with other games too.

That certainly counts and now I am even more interested in playing Astroneer.

Xcom 2 is a great game that you can start and stop.

I'm actually playing Injustice 2, a fighter game, for the story! I play 1 or 2 rounds, stop and come back a couple days later XD It's quite fun in a casual sort of way, and the story mode is pretty satisfying.

Thanks for train bump

I completed the first XCOM a few years ago, and man... what an amazing game. I already bought the second game and the Chimera Squad, and I intend to start soon! It is good to know that they can help with my "specific needs". 😊

About Injustice 2... fighting games haven't been my thing since Street Fighter II (which I played with Blanka just because of the shock thing). Even when I went to the arcade with friends after school I just watched them play Teken, MK, KoF etc. at that time I preferred to play Final Fight, TMNT and Captain Commando. 😁

Thanks for the tips!

I saw this game some time ago and I was unsure whether to add it to my wish list or not. I really liked the art style, and simulation games are among my favorites, but the 'visual romance' thing made me... undecided?

Well, since you are the one who is recommending it I will give it a try. πŸ™ƒ

Time Management games might be up your alley. You can complete a level or two in your allotted time. Here are some examples.

12 Labours of Hercules series: https://store.steampowered.com/app/342580/12_Labours_of_Hercules/

Alicia Quatermain series: https://store.steampowered.com/app/646470/Alicia_Quatermain_Secrets_Of_The_Lost_Treasures/

Gnomes Garden series: https://store.steampowered.com/app/415830/Gnomes_Garden/

Roads of Rome series: https://store.steampowered.com/app/410770/Roads_of_Rome/

I really enjoy these series, and the prices are quite good. Except for the newer Hercules ones, of course.

You're welcome (and sorry for the late response!). :)

Here are a couple of more suggestions.

Cozy Grove: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1458100/Cozy_Grove/

Outer Wilds: https://store.steampowered.com/app/753640/Outer_Wilds/ (It has a time loop mechanic, so that may help?)

Now, the following game I finished in 12 hours, but I took my time taking screenshots (I have a ton of them on my Steam Profile), and getting every Achievement. If those don't interest you, you can probably finish the game in a short amount of time. It is one of my favourite games. :)

Submerged: https://store.steampowered.com/app/301860/Submerged/

Just gonna bump since I can't really think of such a game, but i would suggest considering mobile games as well since a lot of games on that market are built with small burst of play in mind. Clicker and idle game genres also fit this role, and you might want to look at the turn-based genre in steam to get some ideas:

Was it bumpy because it had "varied" games along the way? πŸ˜„

I tried to give only games that I liked to have played in the past or that looked good enough (due to the gameplay, graphics etc.), but then I saw that some of them seem to have been distributed for free at some point (like Kingdom or This War of Mine).

No, no I was referring to the clean/play rhythm which reminded me of my time in a jungle express.

What is "jungle express"? You have my total curiosity now. 😢

As I went to school I had to take a commute train every day. As you might imagine the carriages weren't luxury class exactly. So we rode to school accompanied by the steady Bam/Boom of the train. As a joke we used to call the train "jungle express" and the name stuck to this very day.

Concerning YOUR train I was surprised to see that we both seem to have nearly the same taste in games. I have only entered for one game as most of the others are already in my library.

I went through that too. At the time I was studying drawing too, so I had to get on the train with a huuuuuge case (i don't know what the correct word in english). The other passengers didn't like it very much. : )

Good luck in that GA!

So, I got FTL as a gift. I installed and played for a few hours (while doing some other tasks, of course). And... it's really addictive!

But even in the easy way I don't think I managed to get very far in my first three attempts. The game is apparently simple, but it is very challenging. : )

This game looks really amazing, and it's been on my wish list since it was released, but I thought it would probably be a continuous RTS, you know? It is good to know that it can also be divided into cycles.

I'm using Stardew Valley exactly for this purpose. One in-game day takes about 20 minutes (25 if you manage stuff in your chests a lot or spend the whole day fishing). Even though I'm extremely lazy, this particular game works perfectly and I've done a lot of boring stuff thanks to it.

(For the record, I limit the chores and other boring work to no more than 10 minutes and sometimes as little as 3 minutes in between each 20-25 min day. That's how lazy I am.)

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I have wanted to play Stardew Valley for centuries, but I haven't started yet because I thought it would be a black hole of time... that I wouldn't be able to pause when I started.

I am avoiding very 'immersive' games because I am also pursuing a master's degree (I finish in June), and this game is one of those on the "play when you have a lot of free time" list. πŸ˜„

Thanks for the tip, Saucisse, I think I'm going to buy this game soon!
