For those unaware, Hitman Absolution had an online mode Contracts, and its servers were shut down a while ago (2018). And since the game had achievements tied to this online mode, if you decided to play the game up post server shutdown, that 100% ribbon on Steam would be impossible to obtain (well unless you use some tools that shall not be named). But finally, we have a fix. This isn't an official fix from Square Enix or IOI, it's a community fix, much like the Batman Arkham Origins Multiplayer one. You can now host your own contracts servers and play this online mode (for fun or just to get the achievements).

I didn't even know Hitman Absolution had this issue. Thanks for the notice!

Yeah, since like 2018 when the servers were shut down. There was some talk about possibly Contracts being revived with the Peacock project, but nothing ever came of that, until these mad lads created this. A friend tested it and it worked (was super hyped for it since he likes to 100% games and couldn't do it when he played Absolution this year).

Good to know that it is verified to work! A shame this issue has just been a thing for so long, though...

This should really be the (official) move whenever online services are disabled for a game. Or even just built in at the start

If only. Would be pretty cool. I mean, for Batman Arkham Origins, just deleting a single letter (or was it adding it? eh) enables online play. The server issues and shutdown came due to the servers not being compliant with EU's GDPR policies and seems Hitman just wasn't that big enough for Square to care to fix that. Just look at how easily they parted ways with the studio and IP.

Oh it’s a dream for sure, particularly with older titles. But would still be a nice thing to see implemented where it’s reasonably possible
