My wishlist shows me the cheapest price, be it complete your bundle or otherwise. In fact, with Thymesia, it showed me a complete a bundle that wasn't even on the product page, but was the cheapest way to purchase it. Never would have seen that had I not paid attention to the pricing on my wishlist.
But, it's always wise to take a look at a product page before completing a purchase. ;)

oh, so that's why the wishlists were unavailable the first day of the sale

New feature indeed, a couple months old at most (not counting beta).

true it does show you the cheapest price even if that means buying from a steam bundle which is awesome.. but it wont show you game of the year upgrades or anything, so still should check the page cuz chances are for $1 more you can get deluxe edition of games you want

Never ever add a wishlisted game to your cart directly from Wishlist on Steam. Click on the title, look for the best deal and add to your cart from there.
Adding games from the Wishlist just gets you the base game. During sales it's not super-uncommon for a bundle of the game and its DLCs to be cheaper than the base game itself. Additionally, if you own a game it's bundled with and said bundle is of the "complete your collection" type, you can get the base game cheaper by buying it in a bundle that's full of game(s) you've already got.
While this stuff is always true, it's WAY MORE true during big sales. Distributors and devs tend to be relatively unsavvy in setting up game pages on the Steam Store (note how many games that drop cards have them accidentally hidden). Even if they're good at it, they may not be fully aware how bundle discounts that were set up by someone else years ago will combine with the discounts they add on during a sale.
