GreenManGaming closed my GMG account. They said because I have created multiple GMG account. I have never created multiple GMG accounts and I want them to prove.

If they said because they just don't like me, don't like a random person, they don't want my money, they don't want a random customer, it's fine, I can go away, nothing big deal. But the fact is not like that.

They made up a lie to accuse me. I didn't do what they said. They slandered me.

So what? Should I shut up and go play with my toy car when someone slanders me? Or should I fight back for my justice? How?

Here's the emails:

Me, Jul 12 14:32 (BST):

Hello,
My GMG account name is himiller.
Today I tried to open GMG homepage and the browser kept returning 404 page not found. Some friends said they were able to open GMG homepage without problem, so I cleared the browser cache and retried, and the GMG homepage can be opened now. But, when I tried to login, it said my account is inactive. Why is that? What happend to my account and why is this happening?

everton109, Jul 12 15:36 (BST):

Hi
We have closed your account because you have fraudulently created multiple accounts and obtained games by deception.
Regards
GMG

Me Jul 12 15:49 (BST):

Sorry but I have to say, how rude you are!
How come I created multiple accounts? Why would I do this? What are the other accounts I have created? What are their names? Do you have any evidence?
This is an unacceptable and ridiculous reason.

everton109, Jul 13 07:42 (BST):

Hi
We are sorry that you find our reply rude. This does not change our position and we do not share sensitive information with customers. We have closed your account.
Regards
GMG

Update. Their recent reply to my email.

Me, Jul 13 08:50 (BST):

You are rude not because of your reply, but because your company make up lies, slander your customer and fear to prove yourself. I have not ever created multiple GMG accounts, if you want to accuse me with that reason, prove yourself, otherwise you are slandering your customer, and this behavior is against the law.
Iā€™m now formally requesting for a talk to your supervisor regarding my account that has been closed for no reason, and for I and my reputation have been slandered by your company.
Please forward this message to your supervisor and reply to this email in 48 hours.

Thanks to NGPriest, he helped me to make a call to the GMG customer service. They told me that they'll investigate my case and reply me, and then hung up my phone. (Before I finished talking. That's rude!)

This is their latest reply:

everton109, Jul 13 10:09 (BST):

Hi
I am the Supervisor of Customer Services. We have reactivated your account, but you will no longer be able to purchase games at Greenman Gaming.
Regards
GMG

Now my GMG account has been reactivated. I can login now, but I'm not gonna buy any game from them in my life. I swear.

Now I can see some doubt, why there are some people made up excuses for GMG? If you can't prove your guess, just don't guess. Here are their excuses:

Q: Trade-in Disciples II is not allowed?

A: Read this by yourself:

Not long to go until the end of our second birthday promotion, so in addition to continuing massive daily discounts we're giving out Disciples II: Gold Edition for free. This offer is available until Saturday 0900 UTC 26th May.

If Disciples 2 isn't your thing, don't fear! After the free promotion, you'll be able to trade in Disciples for $5 or ļæ”3 credit towards ANY game on the site! Combine that with some of our pre-order offers and you could be picking up games like Sleeping Dogs at a truly green discount!

  • The GMG Team

So can you read the above sentences from them? Will you prove you are selectively ignoring this?

Please don't forget, they didn't say anything regarding my trade-in, didn't say I was not allowed to trade-in the games to buy another game. They said the reason they have banned me was I had created multiple GMG accounts, but that reason does not exist.

Q: You must have multiple accounts

A: Prove it!

Why don't you just prove it when you accuse a random person? You have my login IPs, you logged everything in your system, if there are multiple accounts that belong to me, show the account names, and show the connections between the so called multiple account between me. Why don't you prove? Or do you just can't prove because everything you accused does not exist?

Very simple reason, because you made it up! If you are sure I have multiple accounts, you have enough information in your system, just prove it!

Q: You said you don't have multiple accounts, why don't you prove?

A: Welcome hijacker! You can prove a negative!

If I say you have multiple accounts, can you prove you don't?
If I say you have stolen my money, 50 million dollars! 50 million!!! Now you prove you didn't!!!

Q: Referral code?

A: I don't know what is that.

Now I see a new excuse, referral code! So much fun!
I created the account because I was convinced to get Disciples II for free. If you say I'm connected with some referral code, prove it! Show everyone the code, show the connection between me and the code. For example, how much money I've earned from the referral code? Show everyone the transaction log that indicates the referral code in my GMG account and my IPs, show all of my transaction logs in your system. You don't need to say much, proving it means everything. PROVE IT! Or did you just made up a new excuse?

It is super easy for a GMG staff to prove all of what they said, they got my information, my login logs, my IPs (I use a PPPoE connection, and I only login GMG at home from the same personal computer), but none of them did! WHY? Or they just can't because all of these were made up? Why did you hijack my thread but feared to prove what you said? WHY?

HAVE FUN HIJACKING MY THREAD! GMG!

Q: Why don't you just let go of GMG, they have already reactivated your account!

A: Because:

  • My account doesn't restore to normal, they put a restriction to my account so that I can't buy anything from them. Although I won't and I will never buy anything from them, I want it to restore to totally normal. Because I have done nothing wrong!
  • I've been slandered for doing nothing wrong! But GMG didn't even say a sorry to me! They owe me an official apology.
  • GMG can't stop everyone knowing what they are.

I was slandered for doing nothing wrong and they even didn't say a sorry. I want to let others know how they cheated on me. What I want from them is a "Sorry", an official apology.

Of course I would like to know the truth. Why they picked me? Am I just an unlucky random person? I guess I'll never know the truth, but never mind, at least I can let people know my case, I have just showed people a real case. And of course I felt better after posting this thread. Because I don't believe what I have done was wrong. I have no multiple accounts, no cheats, everything I did was simple and as they suggested, got two free games, traded-in Disciples II for credit, and later on used the credit to reduce the price on a game. They encouraged us to do this. I will never ever keep silent when someone slandered me, never.

And if a GMG representative sees and says an official "Sorry" to me, fine, I'll say "No problem" and accept that apology. But before that, unless no one still cares to post in this thread, I'll keep it open. That's all what I want.

I have only Steam, GOG and Origin accounts. What I fear most, is those digital distributors agreements. They have right to close your account for any reason they like. No necessary to provide any proofs or so.

  • So you pay for game (sometimes even more then physical disk)
  • Someone is having bad day, and they close random accounts, like mine.
  • I have lost EVERY game I had.

... I pay 50 (insert $/ā‚¬ here), and it is only 'for rental, as long as WE (distributor) like'. This is REALLY SCARY!

Every time, when I buy new game to my Steam account, I'm scared if they close my account someday. Even best horror games are not scary as that.

No need to worry, Steam and GOG wouldn't close your account without a reason. It's just in their EULA for extenuating circumstances, and to give them some breathing room in legal disputes. Origin might though, so feel free to worry about that one.

Exact same thing happened to me, they are fucking terrible at it, and it meant I never got to trade in that game for credit. I reckon it's a ll a big fucking scam on their side, where they banned accounts for this reason to avoid honouring the free credit, to save themselves some money.

That would be the stupidest business move ever. Considering that 1.) They are the ones that choose which games to hand out. 2.) They can determine the "trade in" value, and 3.) Closing a accounts just to prevent people from trading back the free games would be more then counter productive. Giving the games away is a move to entice new and old users into buying more games, and bringing in new customers. Fragging users, JUST to save a few bucks would only serve to build negative rep.

Wouldn't be surprised to find out it's something along the lines of you exploited the sign-up credit they gave out a few months back and they finally caught up to your actual account.

Oh nevermind... You tried to trade in a game that you got for free (Disciples II) to get credit on the site.

No. I saw their promotion and was convinced to register there and grab Disciples II for free. That is why I have a and the only one GMG account. I traded-in the free game for credit as GMG suggested, but didn't buy any game immediately, until that day I decided to buy Worms Reloaded.

Well this guy didn't get his acct suspended for trading in a game. Disciples II is free to trade in, they even explicitly state if you don't want DII you can get credit for it. He had to have done something else to get banned.
They claim he had multiple accounts, and my guess would be that he used multiple accounts when people were exploiting the referral code to get ~$10 USD in free store credit, and they just now caught up to his main account.

1 decade ago

I don't even know what you are talking about. What is the referral code? If you say I have multiple account, I have what referral code, why don't you prove it? And why GMG fear to prove it? They have my account in their system, if what they said was true, why did they FEAR? Or did they just can't prove because there is nothing to prove? Can't you see they just made it up until now? And why they finally reactivated my account? Why don't you open your eyes and use your brain? I don't have multiple accounts in their system! Don't guess, prove it! Or you are just trolling!

PROVE IT, OR SHUT UP!

If I stand up and say I guess you are a GMG staff, what do you think? Is it being a troll makes people feel good?

Yup... I'm SURE you're just an innocent who did NOTHING wrong and the BIG BAD COMPANY is just picking on you for NO REASON AT ALL.

They're not going to close an account for no reason. It'd be bad business for them. You obviously had to do something wrong -- and wrong enough for them to close your account and choose not to let you use their site anymore.

Also lol at you thinking I work for them. I don't, not even close, and I've only used their site three times, each time getting free stuff from promotions (referral, Disciples 2, and now Disciples 2 trade in).

Now, now. SteamGifts is an international site, as is Steam, and miller4 may not speak English as his first language. There's plenty about him in this thread to criticise without pointing out his English. Even if he does speak English as his first and native language, that's a low blow, especially given that he isn't letting go of this.

I know this, but I just kept seeing images of people kneading bread or waterproofing their roofs every time I read it. Better take my meds. No harm was meant.

And even then, they'd be highly limited on what they could disclose publically about a customer's (banned or not) account, so unless miller4 makes it into such a big issue that GMG has to put out a press release outlining exactly why they banned his face and the document trail that led to making that decision (justified or not), this thread and the GMG TOS (which state they can do what they want and don't have to answer to you for anything) is all we've got.

Okay, let me put it another way.

What do you expect to accomplish with this thread? To get your game-purchasing access back? To find out the truth about why GMG did this? Because I don't see either of those happening here. I understand that you'd be quite upset to have your service revoked, and if customer service was rude to you, especially if it was undeserved, I can see how that would be upsetting as well. I'm not here to defend GMG, because I don't know why they did what they did, and I'm not responsible for what they did.

But what do you actually expect to get out of making this thread?

How were you slandered? (You actually mean libel, because slander is spoken damaging lies, and libel is the written form, but that's beside the point.) GMG didn't tell anyone else about this. YOU made the situation public and brought this on yourself.

If you don't like their business practices, leave and take your money somewhere else. That's the beauty of capitalism and the free market.

Don't come here and smear your hurt feelings all over a forum dedicated to gifting Steam games. You'd have a better chance on the NeoGAF forums, since that's a general gaming industry forum (assuming you didn't get your thread nuked and posting abilities revoked on the spot by breaking rules, because they're even more strict than here on SG by a long shot). Simply put, you've come in here and stomped your feet and told us your side of the story because your feelings were hurt and one of your entertainment streams was threatened.

You're not selling yourself as a well-balanced person in touch with the big picture. But if we take your story at face value and you didn't leave any inconvenient little details out, that is definitely messed up for GMG to do. The problem is, the way you've been behaving, we don't believe you.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You don't believe me, that's fine. But please don't say "we" because you don't represent everyone.

And I accept some of your suggestions such as this is not a very right place to complain, and I can't speak some of my words in a professional and/or more appropriate way. English is not my native language, I'm sorry for that, I think people including you did understand what I was complaining about. That's already OK for me. Thank you.

I don't have the ability to write beautiful sentences in English, but I have told everything in my thread, that's all I can tell. If there is anything I can prove, I have every email from GMG in my GMail (they are already posted except the order emails). And if I'm not enough for someone to trust, feel free to trust GMG who accused but can't prove that a customer has created multiple accounts.

You previously said I should be banned because I traded-in the free Disciples II, later on many people remembered GMG encouraged us to trade-in Disciple II, so now you say I should be banned because I must have done something bad enough and GMG can't be wrong.

You position says everything.

You're right in this case. I mistakenly said that trading in Disciples II for credit would get you banned because I never saw the promotion they were doing.
But given that I did the SAME THING you did (get Disciples II, traded it in, then got a game for free) that is clearly not why you were banned. Furthermore, if that was ALL you did, then you wouldn't have been banned either.

Jesus titty-fucking Christ. I've been a member of many general discussion forums/newsgroups/bulletin-boards over the past 18 years and I've never seen anyone try to control what is posted as much as you do. You complain if someone talks about bad service they've received. You whine about "firstworldproblems" whenever anyone complains about anything game related. So why is miller4 not allowed to complain, and you are? Is he hurting anyone?

If everyone ran their topics past you for approval before posting can you give us some insight into what we'd be allowed to talk about? Anything?
